Are your contacts' phone numbers in different formats? If you've had multiple phones, chances are that each phone formats its numbers in a different way. Some phones use xxx-xxx-xxxx, others use (xxx) xxx-xxxx, and some just leave the number as-is, like xxxyyyzzzz.
Tidy Contacts will update all of your numbers to one consistent format. You can pick one of several standard formats. Optionally, you can add or remove the country prefix (e.g. the "1" in front of the number: 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx), as well.
Tidy Contacts also supports countries outside the USA. Users outside the USA can format their numbers according to the standard national format, the E164 format, or standard international format. The national format is determined by the phone's region code.
International numbers are treated separately from national numbers. You have the option of leaving them alone, or formatting them in the E164 format or standard international format.
All potential changes are displayed in a preview window, so you know exactly which numbers will be affected. You can then commit the changes or change your formatting preferences.
Note that not all numbers can be re-formatted. For example, phone numbers linked from Facebook contacts cannot be changed. Tidy Contacts automatically excludes these numbers from processing. If you have Facebook contacts, you may want to use the xxx-xxx-xxxx format, to be consistent with Facebook's formatting.
