THE APP DOESN'T LOCK YOUR PHONE, NO SECURITY! Don't download if you want security on!!!!

(Light sensor combo works great with recent smartphones like Galaxy Nexus; Light sensor combo could not work good with old smartphone, because the built in sensor is of poor quality).

If you use TIMER DELAY + LIGHT SENSOR: Timer delay will start every times the proximity sensor is covered, but it will turn off screen only when is reached the "minimum + sensitivity" of light condition you set in the settings.

- If you use Task Killers or Memory Cleaner, remember to add Smart Screen Off to exceptions!

************ DESCRIPTION *************

Smart Screen Off PRO it's a simple and light app which uses the Proximity Sensor built in your Android smartphone to turn the screen off and on automatically.

************** REASON ****************

I decided to code this app when I bought my Galaxy Nexus: this device doesn't have any physical button on the front screen. Being a quite huge phone, it's quite difficult to press the "turn off" button every time I wanted to turn it off and on. So I needed a way to turn the screen off every time I put it into the pockets and off when removed.

************ HOW IT WORKS *************

The app itself is a toggle button, to switch it on just press the App Icon. Then every time you put the phone into your pockets the screen turns off.

If you put the smartphone upside down on the table, the screen turns automatically off.

NOTE: It doesn't lock the screen (just like in a call)

************ REQUIREMENTS *************

In order to use Smart Screen Off, you need to have a phone with Proximity Sensor and Light Sensor (nowadays every smartphone incorporate both).

Would I like to see a swipe option I've tried several different apps and this is still the only one that can turn off the screen without going to the lock screen that works on my phone. But I would like to see an option for the sensor to have a minimum time covered so that the screen can be turned off by a swipe but not by covering the sensor for a long time

Prevents Gal. Note from going into Deep Sleep mode Works on my Galaxy Note (CM9) but prevents it from going into Deep Sleep mode, draining the battery faster than it should. Script in Tasker can do the same without draining the battery... Lite versions works OK though, no problems with the Deep Sleep state. Wrote to developer a week ago, no response yet...

Works on Galaxy Note Outstanding app that works great on my blue Galaxy Note with a small modification. You have to put a white sticker on the inside of your cover where the proximity sensor is located. This will allow the proximity sensor to correctly recognize when the case is closed. PS: For anyone concerned about power drain, I haven't noticed any reduction in battery life.

1 more option disable screen off. the maximum in system i can get is 10min. if the screen off without me close my flip case, i still need to use home button to wake him up. flip off and on does not wake it up after screen timeout edit: from 4* to 3* because this app failed to re-run itself after i play heavy game even turn on icon in notification bar. need to open app, save and restart app

Perfect. Though I have an Atrix with an in-pocket sensor the screen doesn't turn off if I put it face down & come back on when I pick it up. With this app when I'm interrupted doing anything at all on the phone like watching a movie etc. I can put the phone down without any worries & resume when I'm done. That's worth heaps to me.

It does the work Very good application a lot to enhance on it for the future. On HTC One X I'm having issues saving and restarting, it does not keep the changes. Start/Stop Landscape option is also not working, not sure if is related to the HTC one X or to the first issue I mentioned. Still I'm giving four starts hoping this issues will be solved soon.

Some bugs on the Note Using AT&T galaxy note this always triggers the lowest LCD brightness. I have turned of auto brightness and yet when the app turns the screen off the LCD is too dark to see when turned back on. But the biggest problem is that I always have to go into the setting and make a change and restart to get it to stay working many times. It just simply doesn't work half the time. Third issue is this app has the highest battery drain using power saving mode out of all my other apps.

Works well with a minor "tweak" GT 7.7 Works well. Developer very responsive to questions & suggestions. TIP - if your book cover is dark, put a light colored post-it note or a white piece of paper inside the cover. Works like a charm. Apparently the 7.7 does not have the best sensor, so the little trick solved it. I was getting tired of turning on & off, no need to any more!

UPDATE: These features have now been implemented and it is working great so far! :) Thank you very much for the update. ---- I had this same feature on my last windows mobile phone and it was great! In comparison with that, this app has much more flexibility. However, I would like a few more changes; 1. Please allow me to completely hide the notification stuff (I checked the box, I still see the text and it's pushing over other icons). 2. Add a timeout setting so after 2-5 minutes the screen doesn't turn back on by mistake. 2a. Add a setting to not turn the screen back on once it turns off. 3. Add a setting to allow me to change the proximity setting (that is, how close until it turns off).

Very nice app Would give 5 stars if there an update to use the light sensor, time delay (5 seconds?), and fix the bug which I usually find my screen is on after I open the flip case when I don't check the don't screen on after screen off option ( not that it turns on after open the case but was on already.)

Fantastic Great, powerful, simple, and smooth application that allows you to save battery without locking and unlocking the cellphone like crazy. Good app Have some issues while in call on Droid X, phone will wake ( vibrate) and my face ends the call. Please make auto off exceptions for video playback. I continually find myself accidentally turning the screen off, especially when trying to hold the phone with my left hand and watch videos. The videos restart every time I get near the sensor. Could you add function for app exceptions? Where it turns off automatically with selected apps. Thanks.

Very nice but...... I understand that the sensor "sensitivity" can't be changed but how about an option to adjust how long the sensor has to be covered before it turns the screen off. A 2 second delay would automatically eliminate accidental activations.

Best App Ever! I love my Atrix but with a difficult power button I've been looking for an app like this. I've installed and uninstalled dozens and dozens of apps but this is the only one that will turn the screen off immediately via the prox sensor. Most will only lock or turn the screen black.
