SecuDroid is the ultimate anti theft/loss application for Android devices!
(IMPORTANT! Default verification code: PW )
*One time location request. Request either GPS or coarse location remotelly. An SMS to the number which requested the location or an e-mail to the configured address will be sent including a GMaps link with accuracy and speed information.
*Periodic Tracking. Your device might be moving and you want to track it periodically. Just set it up remotelly and wait for a Google Maps link to be sent to you through a textmessage or an e-mail! The GPS will be turned off when not used and, if there's not enough coverage to get a fix, you'll get the coarse location.
*SIM Change Notification. If a different SIM card is inserted into the device, SecuDroid will send a textmessage to the configured phone numbers including IMSI and IMEI information. This information will be very useful to the operator for blacklisting purposes.
*Pictures. Take pictures silently choosing either the front or the back camera (1) and find out where you left your device or who holds it in his hands. (2)
*MMS support. Get the compressed pictures through a Multimedia message along with the location info at the time it was taken.
*E-Mail support. Get the pictures and location information through a pre-configured e-mail account.
*Invisible mode. If somebody finds your device, he won't know that SecuDroid is installed because there are no icons or launchers. To bring the configuration window up, just dial a code from the stock phone app. This code can be changed anytime.
*Password protection. You will only be allowed to access to SecuDroid setup or make remote requests if you know the correct password.
*Remote Lock. You might have lost your device unlocked and anyone can access to your private information. Just lock it remotelly and noone will be able to get your data.
*Remote Wipe. If the information in your device is more important that the device itself, do a full wipe (SD and internal storage) within seconds.
*Advanced use of resources and memory. SecuDroid won't waste your resources and it will load up just if an SMS with the correct password is sent. It's been designed to save as much power as possible even during a periodic tracking.
*Auto-enable GPS (3)
Notes:
(1) The method used by SecuDroid is proven to work in most devices. However please check it out with yours because some manufacturers don't allow to turn the shutter sound off when taking a picture and you might need some other means (removing file sound on a rooted device?).
Note that even with the shutter sound, a picture could be extremely useful in case of loss.
(2) The front-camera selection will only be available from Android 2.3 on. If a front camera picture is requested to a device running a version below 2.3 or to a device with no front camera attached, the back camera will then be selected instead.
(3) The auto-enable GPS function might not work in new versions of Android due to Google restrictions which enforces the user to enable it manually if it's off. SecuDroid will try to enable it silently and if it doesn't succeed, a coarse position will be obtained and the user will get the accuracy of the location. It's recommended to leave the GPS hardware on in your device given that it won't affect the battery life if no application requests location. SecuDroid will make an effective usage of the GPS thus not affecting battery life.
