Access your Android device over wifi as a Windows shared folder.
* Samba filesharing server for Android.
* Your Android device becomes visible to other Windows (& SMB compatible) computers on your network.
* The 'external' storage in your Android device is accessible as a network shared folder.
* Copy files and folders to and from your Android device using drag and drop.
* Customizable username, password, Windows workgroup name, and device network (NETBIOS) name.
Requirements:
* Your Android device must already be rooted.
* Superuser 2.3.6.2 or later installed (available on Market).
Notes:
* On the first run, make sure you catch the SuperUser Auth request to allow the Samba Filesharing app root access.
* If an update from an earlier version fails, try a full uninstall (either from the application manager of your Android device, or the file sharing app 'Menu -> Settings -> Uninstall' option), then re-install from Android Market.
* If you experience problems accessing your device, be sure to try all three methods: Network browser, specifying name, & also ipaddress.
* You may see 'com.funkyfresh.samba' remain in the Android process list even though you have disabled it from auto-starting. This is normal - whenever the WIFI interface transitions up/down the app needs to run temporarily to check its settings as to whether it should start/stop the filesharing server, after that, its done. Android will kill the inactive process if your device is running low on memory, otherwise the process remains inactive in memory for faster loading next time you launch it.

[2013-01-10] A Google User: Great App But . . . I love this app, but . . . I have 2 routers, 1 in the living room (main router and DHCP server) and 1 in my bedroom (access point). I have put both SSIDs of these 2 routers in my Whitelist. When I switch from 1 router to the other (my phone does it automatically) Samba will lose sharing connection saying "Enabled - Not Running". I have to go into the Main Menu of Samba and click "Enable". Status will then change to "Enabled - Running" and I will then able to see the phone SD card on my computers. Am I doing something wrong? I would give it 5 stars if I could fix my above problem. Great app just the same. PS I wrote the above over a week ago. Now Samba keeps disconnecting itself even when the phone has not moved. Have to manually enable it again. It will disconnect again after a while and I will have to manually able it again. Round and round. Deducted another star because of this. Not to mention that Samba will not run automatically even if I'm in a Whitelist Hotspot. Searched the web and have not been able to solve the problems. Going to uninstall it and try something else. |

[2013-01-10] A Google User: Nice! But needs work. All and all this app does the trick. But it has a quirk that needs to be worked out. It regularly becomes unresponsive enough to raise an Android ANR error, asking to close the app or wait. The developer should consider creating an asynchronous worker thread to fix this. |

[2013-01-07] A Google User: Latest version crashes quite often The second best way to transfer files (rsync is the best) between tablets, phones, and linux clients. However rsync is cli this has a GUI so more people will prefer this. The link is quite fast 6 Mbit/sec. The app with es explorer gives full control on the client and the server. Security is good. Ui is noob proof. Fantastic operation. Thank you. Beats all the wireless transfer in speed, security and ease of use. The new version is different and crashes almost every time I use it. The older versions were much more stable |

[2012-12-31] A Google User: Please put a button for Enable/Disable on screen. This is very useful app for me. But I don't understand that why enable/disable button is not placed on screen. There are too many space on screen. It would be more convenient if there is a toggle button for enable/disable the service. |

[2012-12-30] A Google User: Constant Hanging Tried it at the recommendation of a friend. Constantly hangs while trying to enable on both my Galaxy S3 running CM10.1, and my Galaxy Note 10.1 running Android 4.1.1. Would love to see it working, but for now I can't recommend. |
