Sick of your boring stock dialer keypad? Well, this is an application that gives you an old rotary dialer.
If takes too long to dial a phone number rotating the disc - switch to quick mode.

I'm in New Zealand though, so maybe some countries were different. Mine had 0 in the same place, but 1 through 9 in reverse order. (Dialling numbers with 0s & 1s took ages.) |

[2012-08-04] A Google User: The best one! I downloaded them all and this is the best. There were some with a better GUI but they had an intro screen. I wanted to replace the regular android dialer with something that looked like a turn dialer because my retro handset is on its way... can't wait to talk on phone without my ear starting to sweat from phone heat. Good looking app keep it up... could you change the color of the phone in the middle of the dialer "call now" button to back Shiney instead of green? that would so rock... |

[2012-01-27] A Google User: Used with an app locker, great 'phone only' dialer Most dialer apps have contacts search that cannot be disabled. Though Old School Dialer has a link to contacts, it does not have contacts search. So to make a 'phone calls only' mode on my phone, for the rare times I let someone use it to make a call, I use Smart App Protector and two non-stock dialers: Dialer One for full access to the phone and more features (T9 search, speed, UI customization), and Old School Dialer in quick dial mode for 'phone calls only'. A simple Smart App Protector widget lets me toggle app locking: on for all apps locked except Old School Dialer and the launcher; off for no apps locked. This scheme is not perfect, and does not fully lock the rest of my phone from the temporary caller, but it's fine for my use case (I'm right there with the caller, who is someone I trust.) They can't see my contacts, neither as they dial nor by trying to conference during a call, and they can't do anything else. Lastly, Old School Dialer's simple, dark grayscale skin is easy on the eyes and the battery. My thanks to the developer for making this app available! |

[2012-01-25] A Google User: Good, but could be Great! This is a novelty app, but a fun one. Enjoy it for what it is. I'd rate it five stars if you could incorporate a 'rotary' sound to accompany the motion. Even out of "Quick Dial" mode, you can dial before rotary resets. Is this deliberate? Or a bug? |
