NOOKcolor Power Button (by default) is a home screen widget that (guess what) is the SAME THING as pressing your power button. So it puts your device to sleep, powers off, or reboots, without reaching for the hardware power button.
When using sleep mode, this is not just an app that blanks the screen, which is why it requires root. It actually emulates a real press of the power button on your device to engage real sleep mode.
Seriously...it doesn't work at all if you don't have adequate root access to your device. Root access is required for any app to have real power button emulation if you are running Eclair (Android 2.1) on your NOOKcolor (stock NOOK color firmware).

[2012-05-09] A Google User: This App Saved my Nook Tablet! The power button on my Nook Tab completely stopped working and I was dreading having to take it back to B&N to get a replacement. Even though this app was build for the Nook Color, it works on my Nook Tab perfectly and I can now reboot it! Very Nice! |

[2012-03-13] A Google User: NO LONGER DEEP SLEEP Nook Color rooted. When asleep awake line stays solid IT used to turn on and off now stays solid It turns off screen but is still awake using battery much more than it used to when asleep. Was 5 stars now 3. Please fix |
