Llama uses phone masts to determine your location, so that you can change your ringer, vibrate and ringtones depending on where you are as well as the time of day. Llama provides you with sound profiles so you can quickly switch between quiet, loud, silent and normal sound settings. You can set your family, wife and children to ring even if your phone is set to silent! You can create events and home screen shortcuts to manage your sound profiles and more:
-Silence your phone at work
-Turn your Bluetooth on ready to connect your headset for a morning run
-Set your phone quiet when it's late at night and you haven't gone out
-Start the music player when a headset is connected
Llama can also do:
4G
APN
Accounts Sync
Airplane Mode
Bluetooth
Car mode
GPS (before Android 2.3 only or Cyanogenmod)
Haptic Feedback
Kill Applications (also force-kill with root privileges)
Play, pause and other media buttons
Mobile Data (before Android 2.3 only)
Reboot
Run apps
Run shortcuts
Screen brightness
Screen lock PIN/password
Set Llama variables
Speakerphone
Screen on and off
Screen timeout
USB storage
Vibrate
Wallpaper
Wifi
Wifi hotspot
Wifi sleep policy
Create events based off:
Airplane mode
Battery level
Bluetooth devices
Calendar events
Car mode
Charging
Day of the week
Current locations
Headset
Llama variable
Music playback (stock Android only, requires third party developer support)
Phone start up and shut down
Screen on and off
Time of day
Wifi networks
NOTE: Since GPS is not used, the location tracking is limited to the number of phone masts in your area. This will work best if you live in a populated area. If your home and work are covered by the same phone masts, you can try using the experimental Wifi-based location tracking. If that still doesn't work, you can remove the enter/exit conditions to make time-based profiles.

* COMMENT RESPONSES/RANTS
I can't reply directly to your comments! If you vote 1 star, please say why, otherwise I can't fix it. Please email me about any questions, bugs and suggestions!
- Komei, please point out the Android API that says 'break your phone': http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/AudioManager.html I can't find it, but you obviously know better. Ergh.
- Artists'Services - *YOU* have to authorise any transactions in Google Play! Apps can't just access your cards willy-nilly
- Jennifer, you haven't taught Llama all of the cells at your workplace
- If it Force Closes, please email me the /sdcard/Llama/LlamaLog.txt
- Don't blame Llama for the lack of your operator's phone masts in your area. You can still use Llama with the experimental location methods, or time-based events
****
* PERMISSIONS
-Read your calendar (aka 'Your personal information') for any calendar conditions you set up
-A bug/feature of Android means Llama also has to have the write calendar permission, but it doesn't actually write anything
-Your accounts so it can run an account sync if your events say so
-Write to your SD card to import/export your area, events and profiles, and to write error logs
-Call-state and read contacts to let you choose which of your contacts can still ring even when silent
-Llama DOES NOT have internet permission. Your data isn't going anywhere
****
* UNINSTALLING
-If you've used screen off or screen password actions, go to Settings > Security > Device Administrators, untick Llama from the list, then uninstall

[2012-09-01] dzsabor: Very useful |
[2012-08-30] The Seventh Son: Great app! This is a fantastic app! Please please do consider adding more actions like text/sms, email, tweet etc or any others as you see fit. Eagerly anticipating new actions, this could become one of the best apps on the market. Keep up the great work :) PS - Any way to add an NFC toggle as well? |
[2012-08-30] Alejandra: Alexis Love it!!! |
[2012-08-30] Eddy: Very powerful and free! This is an excellent tool to allow people who want to automate their common phone operations. It's got a great array of conditions and actions to choose from. Some of the more advanced ones don't work perfectly (i.e. changing screen lock condition) but it is clearly stated in the app when the operation may not function. Everything it says it support works excellent. So far I've been using it for a couple weeks, and it has never been wrong about what it's doing. Battery drain has not been an issue. One thing I'd like to see is event conditions that only respond to a *change*. It seems like Enter area and In area are treated identically, and sometimes I just want to identify only the moment when I've entered the area. I'll be emailing the dev about this. Highly recommended! Thanks to the developer for this wonderful free app! |
[2012-08-30] sam: Makes technology suck less Totally addicted. Struggling to come up with more cool stuff for my phone to do, however unnecessary, just cause I can.. |
[2012-08-30] [JP]: Top notch. Best app of its type. Exceeds my expectations on both phone and wifi tablet. Droid 3 (cm9) and XOOM (stock 4.1) |
[2012-08-30] Vikas Kumar Bajaj: Once set and forget it kind of app Excellent app. Once property configured which is easy thing too you can simply forget the app. It silently works in background without being taxing on battery. Multiple event conflicts are not handled well but still deserves a five star rating |
[2012-08-29] vinson: HTC One V Fab app...thanks. |
[2012-08-29] Morten: Does what it says on the tin. This app works just as you expect. Use it to adapt your phone to different environments automatically. |
[2012-08-29] Patti: Great! Very nice alternative to Tasker, much easier to understand & use, for a simple-minded person like myself. Just wish there were more examples online so I could find even more ideas of what to set up, & to copy :) |
[2012-08-29] Max: F*ck Tasker! F*ck Tasker, seriously! My phone works so much better without it! Llama is the new black! |
[2012-08-29] Bala: No more embarrassing moments in the meetings Love this app. Simply made my life easy. |
[2012-08-28] Senate9690: Excellent app Absolutely the best app I've downloaded since I started using android years ago. Was able to replace four apps (airplane mode scheduler, silent time, sound profile widget, mobile data widget) with this one! Would recommend this to anyone! |
[2012-08-28] Fredrik: Absolutely essential - even though it doesn't work 100% w ICS This is the one app I couldn't do without. It is what puts smart into smartphone. Sadly events fail to trigger more often than not after upgrade to ICS. Hopefully there will be fix soon. |
[2012-08-28] the 8/29/2012 Asus Transformer Prime Love it! I only downloaded it to change profiles automatically but got so much more from it. I now have much more control of my Prime. Now trying to figure out what's the next! |
[2012-08-27] mudeth: Great app! One of the most useful, robustly designed apps I've used. Thank you for this. Donated. |
[2012-08-27] the 8/27/2012 Great app, simple and easy to use. |
[2012-08-27] Tom: Can't live without it! I use llama to turn on wifi when I'm home or at friends homes; puts my phone on silent when I'm at church; changes my phone to quiet at night and much more. It automates android! |
Merci! |
[2012-08-26] Nolan: So Many Possibilities! I live in the city with lots of cells close together. To ignore overlapping cells without deleting, just go to recent tab and long-tap to ignore. To further fine-tune location go Settings/experimental stuff - turn on wifi. Now just add the correct wifi network(s) to your location in Recent tab. Also you can turn on location and get the map addon. If you go to the dev's blog you will find the latest beta build dated 8/07/12 for ICS. |
[2012-08-26] Taisuke: Greatest app ever" |
[2012-08-26] mvw: pretty good You have to write the rules correctly to get the most out of this. Be patient! |
[2012-08-25] Delboy: Works It actually works. Excellent. Just excellent. |
[2012-08-25] Ryefield: Amazing |
[2012-08-25] victorj589: Simplified Tasker Amazing, changes the way you use your phone. |
[2012-08-25] IMT GHZ PGP 09: This is not Tasker, but automates a lot This app is capable of doing so much more than just location profiles. I Automated so many settings using this. Great App. |
[2012-08-25] Abe: Thanks for this! This is simply just great. I particularly like its minimal Permissions requirements (esp no Internet Permission) with good explanation on why each permission is needed. Maybe that's impossible, it would be even better if it could utilize the phone inbuild profile.Optimization on memory usage would be welcomed also. Thanks once again. |
[2012-08-24] Jeff: WOW!....and given for free Used settings profile for years and very impressed with llama so far. Features here seem to be much more rich and developed. UI could use some work. Donation appears to be in order. |
[2012-08-24] Ruskin: WOW - incredible I was a little dubious at first, but this application is the most amazing profile management application I have EVER come across. It is really location based, so knows when you enter an area and immediately runs the appropriate actions. It can even read my calendar events, so my phone automatically quietens down when I go to a meeting. The conditions and actions are so varied and many, there is nothing that I can't configure (provided I don't get stuck in a strange state with conditions that conflict, but that would be my fault, not the apps). Great work guys, this app is brilliant... |
[2012-08-24] mhellin: Top notch Worth several dollars in donations yet it's free. Please consider adding sms messaging and send functionality to bring it to the next level. |
[2012-08-24] Abhi: Brilliant Does what it says |
[2012-08-24] Hugo: Works as described, Please donate! The application is great, and works flawlessly. The developer seems to have an excellent sense of humor and very ingenious way to ask for donations. |
[2012-08-24] Soporte_Achs: Better then you thnk! I'm using it now for almost a week and it surprised me that this kind of tool could be for free when you see all the benefits and potential of the tool. - Now I'm saving almost 40% of the battery life - I'm not longer changing the volume on my phone I spend about 1 hour trough 2 days to set it up correctly and now it works wonderful. In few words according to events you can take actions. On an event that could : - you enter in certain area - in a certain time-span, - you enter at certain wifi network - .. many other events (are programmable in human language) you can fire actions like: - Disable WFI - start an application - decrease/increase the volume I really recommend this tool. These guys are loosing money to leave it for free! Congratulation for doing a GREAT tool! |
[2012-08-23] the 8/23/2012 Good & bad Decent but very disappointed that phone started ringing in the middle of my class...twice. I used events etc & I just don't trust it anymore. Uninstalling |
[2012-08-22] spiros: Great app! |
[2012-08-22] Anu: Too good |
[2012-08-22] thargon: Works, but not perfect Time-based events works. Area-based events works partially - need to switch on screen. So, when I setup switch bluetooth on after leave Home area, it does not work. After leaving Home area need to switch screen on, otherwise BT did not switch on. Phone: lg-p970, android 2.3 |
[2012-08-22] Fabien: Love it... I simply love it... It does its job perfectly (makes your life easier) and has a great location finding without having to enable GPS. Thank you the llama |
[2012-08-22] Pete: Awesome app helps save data Works as described, lots of features |
[2012-08-21] Guido: ... used to work brilliantly on gingerbread but causes the phone to crash regularly after upgrading to ics (cm9). |
[2012-08-21] Udaya Shankar: Very good. Works as described. Lots of options to get it to do what you want. |
[2012-08-21] jason: Great app! I think this is a great app which should receive more publicity in the media, so that more people can enjoy it. It not only helps automate task based on your location, but also enables you to launch an application or perform an action like toggling a phone setting whenever you plug in your headset or earphone. Kudos to the developer(s). |
[2012-08-21] Richard: Excellent Brilliant, can't believe I wasted money on the buggy Tasker before this. |
[2012-08-21] The Toad: Great app This is a great app. You can do all kinds of things with it--many of them pretty complicated. For example, you can set it up so that it turns on your WiFi automatically when you are home at a certain time or day and update your Gmail. You can set it up so that when you get in your car and drive to work, it turns on Bluetooth. so you can receive calls through your car's system. You set it up so that it turns off you phone's radio's at night to save power and then have it turn them back on when you wake up. This is a very fun app that runs well and it is easy to program actions in it. See, Llama's can be fun. This is better than any of the many tasking apps I've tried. If you want/need to automate stuff on your phone, this is the application to get. |
[2012-08-20] Peter: HTC Desire. A brilliant app. When I figured how to use it, I realise how good it is. changes my phone from silent to normal when in my selected areas |
[2012-08-20] Hoang: Excellent Does exactly what it says without being a massive resource hog. Highly recommended. |
[2012-08-20] SuperFlyXXI: Okay scheduler Decent app. The event manager is a bit low level and not intuitive to configure "profiles" to occur in certain instances. Something simple like having two profiles isn't as simple to configure via events as you'd think. You have to configure an entering and exiting profile. So configure how to enter a certain profile and what conditions to cause to exit. However, I have cases the same condition all cause to fall into a default profile, but it doesn't seem to work right. I haven't contacted the developer, because quite honestly there are many other apps that are more intuitive to configure. The only advantage I've seen with this app is the ability to control 4G. And in my opinion, I'd rather have a simple interface than ability to control 4G (yes I have a 4G phone). |
[2012-08-20] nafedz: Excellent app Much easier than tasker, and best of all, its free! Thanks for the awesome app! |
[2012-08-20] Mishail: so cool |
[2012-08-20] JohnMartin: Bad support A nice app, but non existing support. No reply to emails.. |
[2012-08-19] Jackie: No good for me.. ICS issues still present, so this app is useless to me.... |
[2012-08-19] Bojan: One of the must have apps! Thank you for making this great app. Donation sent. |
[2012-08-19] Stewart: Truly is a smart app Llama really does step up the android os with true smart features. Love that you can set up your phone to do just do about anything... As an example... when I arrive at church my phone goes silent, turns on wifi, and brings up the Bible automatically! This really is a great app. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that it's not user friendly until you play around with it and learn how to use it... Which the author does a great job explaining what and how each feature works. Very well done app! |
[2012-08-18] the 8/18/2012 Good product It works fine and is very customizable! |
[2012-08-17] mattman: Not accurate enough I liked this app for a while. But I would be a mile away and it still said I was at home. Cell towers just are not specific enough for location awareness. Further it has been incorrectly applying profiles and causing me to miss calls. I am going back to Tasker which is more setup but more reliable. |
[2012-08-17] Ketan: Search ends here Absolutely.... What I was looking for. I hate early morning calls from Unwanted people. I have created Profile where I have used Noisy Contact option. My phone rings for my Selected Contacts only otherwise it stays in silent mode. Gr8 feature. I love it. |
[2012-08-17] Ellis: Easy, powerful, amazing! It's absurd that this is FREE. It saves me time, battery, and money, all day every day. Plus music, news, camera, and map automatically appear when they should. Impeccable!! |
[2012-08-17] Jayesh: Just love it I have never had to change sound, vibrate and data settings since I installed llama |
[2012-08-17] Yvonne: changed my life! Donation made! I absolutely love this app! My phone used to go off at work cos I kept forgetting to set it to Silent but now it goes quiet automatically every day I'm at work. Makes my life so much easier! |
[2012-08-16] mightybrick: Excellent Awesome tool for managing profiles and phone automation. Keep up the great work, dev! |
[2012-08-16] Cristian: Great! Great battery life! |
[2012-08-16] Dexi: does the wrong thing thinks I'm at home when I'm at work. even at home when it's the middle of the night and settings say to be quiet it keeps changing to normal even when i force quiet. app is junk. |
[2012-08-16] Sanjay: Some learning curve..but recommended! An excellent app. Needs to be little more user friendly, but does an excellent job if you stick with it through the learning curve! |
[2012-08-16] pong: Set and forget about changing profiles Llama is highly customisable and will suit almost of your needs if you know how to customise it. If you do not how to, learn it. Take it step by step and if you love this app like me, buy him a beer! |
[2012-08-16] Rey: So far, it is pretty awesome! I am coming using Setting Profiles for years, and since that app's developer is not active anymore, I wanted to give Llama a try. So far is working great! I think is more intuitive than Setting Profiles and Tasker. I like the concept that events and profiles are two separate things. So far, I have not since anything missing from Setting Profiles. I will be donating soon. Keep up the good work! |
[2012-08-16] Richard: Does not work Installed on HTC sensation. Some parts of the program work. Others do not. Too much trial and error to find out which parts of the application can be relied upon. Nice idea for a program. But only 1 star as I wasted so much time programming it, only for it not to work. |
[2012-08-16] Matthew: Very thorough profiles manager Allows timed profiles (like the good old Nokia days), profiles based on location and the option for specific callers to 'ring through' a silent profile. A little complicated at first but well worth the effort. |
[2012-08-16] Dean Camera: It's like magic, except real Fabulous - now I don't need to worry about turning my phone on silent when I get into bed. Works exactly like it says on the tin, and completely ad-free. |
[2012-08-15] Gikan: Usefull Very cool |
[2012-08-15] Liberty: best app in the world Best app in the world. donated! You can do anything with it. Thou must download it and give 5 stars, period! |
[2012-08-15] Derrick: Dek Keeps crashing!!! Shame as would have been a great app!!! |
[2012-08-14] Vipul Limbachiya: I love this app No loud ring tones at my work even if I forget to change volume, and many other useful stuff. Thanks for this app :-) |
[2012-08-14] Gerry W: Brilliant, Top notch software for enabling or shhhing your phone based on routine etc... My only complaint I can't set actions based on a profile... I actually forget this app is here, it uses no power and no data... |
[2012-08-14] sandbera: Brilliant! So many cool things about this app. It is location based, it is time based... it controls the ringer and the WiFi too! So perfect. |
[2012-08-14] Jason-PDX: TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This app is simple to use and amazingly effective. I LOVE it. I've been a user for about a year on my android phone.. and just added it to my android tablet. Works like a charm and I was able to import the profiles and data from my phone to my tab, so I didn't have to re-establish locations, profiles, etc. AWESOME!!! |
[2012-08-14] HaMiD: Amazing One of the best apps out there. works GREAT, has a lot of functionality and runs without wasting the battery. The free version comes with no adds. I have already recommended this to several others and will continue to do so. Oh, and I also bought the donation version cause this Rocks!!! |
[2012-08-14] Jonny Ray: Love it! The best app for automating my phone so I never get caught with my ringer on. Thx! |
[2012-08-13] Kamila: Awesome! This app is a life-saver! Thank you! |
[2012-08-13] Alistair: Better than tasker I tried tasker as I heard good things about it, but am now returning to llama which seems more reliable. Easy interface and works quietly with no ads |
[2012-08-13] Scarface Ninetoes: Cool as... I love this application. Such a great idea, simple & brilliant. |
[2012-08-13] Anka: Awesome No more phone ringing at random times. |
[2012-08-13] Tom: Awesome Just found out about llama. I've got it set up to do all sorts of stuff already, like enabling rotation for gallery and youtube. |
[2012-08-13] the 8/14/2012 Not working Screen Time out I m using HTC Sensation Xe with ICS. All is well. But it never works for screen time out option. Plz fix it as I need it most. Sami. |
[2012-08-12] liz: lizPooh |
[2012-08-12] writedove: Complex Not really for ordinary folk! On S III could not get noisy function to operate. When call comes in from approved #, quiet phone does not ring.. even though call can be seen to be active on the quiet phone. |
[2012-08-11] Philip: Crashes ICS Would be a great program, if it didn't randomly crash my Samsung Galaxy S2 running ICS. |
[2012-08-11] Brahm: Solid. I use it to save battery on my Nexus 7 (enter airplane mode after the screen has been off for an hour) and control when and where Wi-Fi is enabled on my Galaxy S2. Great app! |
[2012-08-10] Li'l'EX: Tasker wasn't working for Asus tf300 but this one does! :-) I couldn't get tasker to start playing music once the headphones r plugged in, sounds stupid but really useful for me :-) and this app actually works :-) and also its free!! AWESOME! |
[2012-08-10] Mark: Essential! Awesome app! It allows you to create automatic functions like putting your phone on silent when you get to work, playing music when you plug your headphones in, and turning off wifi when you're not at home. It takes a while to figure out how to use the app, but it's worth it for the convenience later on. My only complaint is that there's no 'wait' action, e.g. to play a sound before entering silent mode. Protip: learn locations a few times on different days to get more consistent results. |
[2012-08-09] djb: Best I've tried I wanted a profile switcher that would change automatically. I set up a couple basic rules. When I found holes where it didn't do what I wanted, I looked at my schedule and added more specific rules. The more you play with Llama, the more "automagically" it works. Worth the donation! Excellent. |
[2012-08-09] Neil: Best app for Android I am still finding more awesome ways to automate my Samsung Galaxy S2 with Llama. Started off doing the simple Home / Work / Night profiles, but now I am getting really into the specific customisations. I really like auto-setting volume + brightness when I watch a movie and turning on WiFi + auto-sync when I get Home everyday. Great for saving battery life too. Kebabapps, if I ever meet you I would like to shake your hand and buy you a beer. |
[2012-08-09] Nick: Crazy powerful app! I'd recommend! |
[2012-08-09] Piazza: Just Perfect! After learning how to use the app, it really help me to do boring things and make my life a lot easier |
[2012-08-08] Michael: Awesome. Simply awesome. Stunning app. It hasn't failed at a single thing I've programmed into it correctly. When it failed expectations, I found it was some logical error I caused, or didn't train the location thoroughly. This has no battery drain at all if programmed correctly. The dev is constantly updating the app and info on his site, and the only thing I'm missing is already on his to-do list there for an upcoming release. I used to for 2 days, and then donated. It does everything I need, and saved me the cost of the way-over-priced competing apps on the market. Well done, Dev! It's so good, I think I might have to donate again. |
[2012-08-08] Arjun: Amazing App |
[2011-05-14] Ivellios: Thrilled with this app! |
[2011-05-14] Josue Jeriel: Esta bueno lo malo es que si vives cerca del trabajo se hace bolas |
[2011-05-14] Pieter: Great app App works great in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Very handy for enabling / disabling patternlock when leaving home / coming back. Excellent tool with hilarious helppages. Very, very good! |
[2011-05-13] Matthew: Looks great, but was really hoping for the ability to set rules with exceptions for those special people you want to hear from no matter what. |
[2011-05-13] munish: Frikin awesum app ,superb quality and dev decided to giv it away 4 free, wow :) he defin8ly knows hw to keep his audience happy. Iam happy :P |
