To display: Long press on free area of home screen. Choose Widgets then "GMailWidget".

I was never able to get this widget to work. It downloaded and installed but would not refresh to reflect new messages. Always stayed on 0 messages

Doesn't update counter. Emailed author, no reply in 4 days. Guess I will have to write my own.
