deciBel (v. 1.3.2) Разработано Peter Tschudin |
deciBel is the result of a serious effort to make an Android based SPL meter as close to a professional-grade device as the phone hardware limitations allow.
It uses a Fast Fourier Transform algorithm to implement a high precision A weighting filter and sophisticated digital signal processing techniques to achieve the best possible SPL readings out of your Android phone or tablet.
It displays the current, maximum and minimum values in decibels, and generates 3 kinds of sound pressure level versus time charts. The display can be turned upside down to allow pointing the mic at the sound source.
deciBel is supported by ads.
### Please calibrate before the first use! ###
Features:
- true A-Weighting (ANSI S1.4)
- simple calibration interface
- numeric dB, dBmin and dBmax display
- sliding sound level versus time chart
- sliding max, min and average soud level versus time chart
- accumulated sound level exposition chart (dosimeter)
- saves chart screen shots to the SD card
- dominant frequency display
- 22Khz bandwidth at the input of the weighting filter
- 1024 point real time FFT and digital sound processing
- movable to the SD card

[2012-08-25] Craig: It works great Samsung galaxy 2 tablet Seems to be the only one that is actually working for the Galaxy 2 Great app for band lovers |
[2012-08-25] jaypeecee: Pretty good I have just checked this application against a semi-pro SPL meter and it really is pretty good. I used sinewave tones from 250Hz to 3kHz. I will probably purchase this app. |
[2012-08-04] Tim: Awesome app! I calibrated this at work and for a phone it does well! Will do! for non critical applications! |
[2012-07-30] Annie: Limited by phone's mic capabilities I have noisy neighbors and wanted a scientific threshold to measure them by. Unfortunately, my phone's mic doesn't pick up sounds that aren't in the immediate proximity of the phone. |
[2012-07-07] Myrddin/Friday: :) Excellent |
[2012-07-06] Jose A.: José A. "...n..insights...kfr...thanks..." |
[2012-06-13] Brad.tesh: Works great Great for the movie theater. |
[2012-06-08] Tiffany: Decibel Awesome app! Fun to play with... |
[2012-06-03] Zac: great on mytouch very close to the real thing |
[2012-05-28] Richard: Excellent app This is an awesome app! Im into sound and the fact that u can calibrate is top! I havent used it fully yet but i will try it. Few things i would like to see in updates would be maybe an average function where we could set it to say 1 min and it will calculatr the average over that time set. Maybe also a log where u can save highest readings? Thanks for the great app |
[2012-05-20] chelle: Suits my purpose! Nice charting, and screen save option is great, (especially if you want proof) ‡•) |
[2012-05-20] Ismael: jvchsAbsnhahazh vby Works good but make sure you exit the app before making a phone call as it will not let the person hear you... |
[2012-04-26] Eric: Seems to work on my LG-E739 (T-Mo myTouch)... ...now I just need to find a way to calibrate it. Might have to see if any local stereo shops have SPL meters and if they would be willing to let me calibrate with it. (A top hearing-aid manufacturer is only a few miles away but I doubt they would set me up in their soundproof room with a tone generator and SPL meter.) On my LG-E739 it registers about 46-48 dB with my mini-fridge being the only noise I can hear. With a fan and my computer running deciBel is showing about 56 dB. The loudest I have gotten it so far is about 91 dB when clapping just inches above the phone. Some sort of database where users could enter their calibration values for specific phone models might be helpful. I really like the fact that it shows the dominant frequency! |
[2012-04-12] tdobbins381: Ok In better range |
[2012-03-17] Dan: Essential I work in a Pro Audio store, and this is ideal for calibrating studio monitors, and small PA rigs. I've tried all the others, and this is the only one I trust. Very reliable, and accurate enough for everyday use. If you need .1db accuracy buy a db meter! |
[2012-02-28] Raymond: Taz It was good on my old Moto droid would read max db in my car 140.5 but now on my bionic I can't get any readings over 90 db |
[2012-02-26] kanishk: Nice |
[2012-02-24] howard: Works well, on Gal S2. GR8 |
[2012-02-17] the 2/19/2012 Awesome! |
[2012-02-11] Franklin: Very pleased After calibrating using an instrumentation digital sound level meter and using both the app and the professional meter side by side the results were nearly identical. Comparison made using voice, television and a running vaccum cleaner. Best results of the two apps I downloaded. |
[2012-02-07] Ben.Findlay: Moto razr no response Unfortunately this app did not register any readings at all on my moto razr, clearly the microphone was not enabled, and the readings were just stuck at a random default level. It is unfair to give any judgement of it though. |
[2012-02-05] Sandy: Not accurate |
[2012-02-04] Donal: Great little app Version 1.2 fixes the crash issue on ICS. Useful once calibrated. |
[2012-02-03] Zippert: Explain permissions Lowered rating and nu upgrade until permission is explained or preferably removed. |
[2012-02-03] michael: Accurate Put it next to a real tester today and was within .7 of a db. |
[2012-02-02] J.J.: Exactly as described Does what it says, only as good as your phones hardware. Is not a pro tool, but certainly a fun reference. |
[2012-02-01] Gary: Works well Tried many other ones but this was the best of them all !! |
[2012-01-31] ajromanelli: Works great Exactly as advertised, no problems at all on my droid2 |

[2012-01-18] Vince: Next to junk Tried in both factory and office settings. Terrible. Readings were nowhere near accurate. Would have been fun to use/play with/show off. Glad it didn't cost me anything. |
[2012-01-13] zachary: Works |
[2011-12-31] Allan: Ics Doesn't Work on gnex, force close |
[2011-12-26] Russ: not responsive enough. tried to use it to measure gunshot dB and it didnt even register. |
[2011-12-15] Lee: Higher threshold Doesn't max out at 99dB like other similar apps. |
[2011-12-14] d: Not working Don't work for me either. Must not like LG ....... |

[2011-12-03] Grace: Jason is just retarded. He obviously doesn't understand the doppler effect. The app works fine. I found out a game at chuckle cheese maxed at 120db, I got free tokens. |
[2011-12-03] Jeff: Jeff Works extremely well on my rooted Droid X. Great idea and well done. Thank you. |

[2011-10-09] 155: Neat app Neat app, I used it to measure how loud my friend's lancer evolution was when he was accelerating. Great free quick app. |

[2011-09-12] devin: Worst app ever!! I was completely quiet and it said 91.8 and 92.5db. Its soo crappy! I wish i could give negative stars! |
[2011-09-11] daniel: It's junk. I snapped my fingers and it read 105 dB. I spoke loud and it read over 130dB. This doesn't work at all. Uninstalling right now. |

[2011-07-19] TJB: Doesn't work on Xperia x8 Doesn't work on Xperia x8. Uninstalled. Thank You. |
[2011-07-16] Steven: Not accurate. Why make an spl meter app that isn't even accurate? The whole idea is to measure something. With this, you might as well just gusess. |
[2011-07-15] Chris: Good and reasonably accurate. Galaxy tab. |
[2011-07-14] neal: Did not work This app did not work on my LG Optimus V phone. The Decibel-O-Meter app did. |

[2011-06-10] Turtle Cove Property Owner's Association: No reading on LG Optimus S |
[2011-06-07] Garth: Lg optimus v. No reading |

[2011-05-05] Olestas: LG Optimus One Not working. No measurements at all.. |
[2011-05-04] gmail: Good. |
[2011-04-19] ben: Hardware limitations make these apps too inaccurate to be of any use. Your phone is not capable of " hearing" like a real Decibel meter can. |
[2011-04-16] david: Not accurate at all. |
[2011-04-10] Theodore: Choppy and slow on mytouch 4g. It seems to take samples rather then continuous measuring. Its frustrating and from what I can tell, useless. |
[2011-04-07] kyle: fail |
[2011-04-03] avin: Frequency range is small but not because of the app. |
[2011-04-02] Robert: Didn't work on my LG Vortex. It didn't pic up any sound at all. |
[2011-03-27] Graham: Worked.first time then hung therafter |
[2010-09-14] John: @zeke 140 for clapping is about right. Talking in a normal tone produces around 75 decibels. Go buy a meter if u don't believe me. |
