Put special days which mark the remarkbale occasions in your life in settings in advance, then it will indicate how far away till the special days coming, if it's past, it will also update automaticlly second by second.

Widget support: you can add Countdown board widget to your desktop

This app works but not for darker backgrounds for that I suggest using countdown widget. Countdown widget allows you to view your countdown easier.
