Cell Phone Coverage Map (v. 1.2.4) Разработано RootMetrics |
How does your cell network really perform? Don’t rely on the claims of carriers. Test it for yourself! Download the free RootMetrics app: with the push of a button you can map your coverage and discover real-life data speeds, signal strength, and comparative carrier scores for the four major carriers.
Join thousands of other users as we leverage millions of real-world results from the crowd to create an accurate, unbiased map of mobile carrier performance and signal strength.
If your area isn’t covered yet, test it and add your data to the crowd! Check back and see your contribution: results from your testing will be added within 24 hours.
If your carrier isn’t on the comparison chart, don’t worry. You can still test with our app and we’re still collecting your data—as more and more data comes in, we’ll look to expand which carriers are compared. By testing, you’re making a difference.
Explore Intuitive Maps that Compare Coverage at a Glance
Using our sophisticated analytics engine, data is brought to life through easy to understand maps and ratings that show the true picture of each carrier’s performance. Look at coverage from a metro-wide view or all the way down to your street address. You select the display that you want…
• Signal Strength View - a quick look at signal quality
• Data Speed View - a view of download and upload speeds
• RootScore - a side-by-side comparison across all carriers
• Multiple Markets - tap on another location and view the data of your selected location
• Zoom Feature - zoom out to view data across an entire metro, or zoom in for a street-level view
With easy-to-read, interactive maps centered on your location, there’s no need to cross your fingers and simply guess which carrier would be right for you. Cut through the carrier’s marketing claims and find the best network for your location and your unique needs.
Tell Your Friends and Test Frequently
Tell your friends: by spreading the word, you’ll help generate new data so that areas covered on the RootMetrics map spread as well. Watch the maps grow and change as new data comes in.
Test frequently and at different times of the day to refine results and monitor how performance changes. Remember, more testing means a more life-like and up-to-date picture of actual carrier coverage.

[2011-10-22] Pavel: Ignores poor coverage Metrics are heavily skewed because this app ignores speed results below a certain threshold, making coverage appear better than it really is. Useless! |

[2011-10-19] Robert: The best app out there. Suggestions would be faster results posting and different maps for 4G, etc. Works well on HTC Evo 4G. |

[2011-10-16] Sara: Great Idea but doesn't seem accurate. I ran the test in 3 locations and they all came back great even though according to my cell, 2 of them had 4-5 bars and the 3rd had only 1 bar. |

[2011-10-10] Pete: OK app Needs more data |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-09-25] Brian: Data speed below minimum... Good app, except too many times it doesn't record the info due to low data speed. Duh. The whole point is to document both good and poor performance |

[2011-09-18] notisj: I'm not really sure how collecting data for this company helps ME in any way. I see no use for this app. Just get a speed tester. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-09-16] Tannen: Great idea. Great idea, but I wouldn't mind it have scheduled connectivity checks every so often, so that I don't have to turn it on all the time. |

[2011-08-28] m: My favorite ahead of Sensorly and OpenSignalMaps! Agree with Michael below. Needs terrain view and attempted call fail button, not just dropped call. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-07-28] Michael: Needs a way to show different maps for 4G LTE and so on. Needs to show # of samples of each type of data used per every hex like 1X or 4G LTE or 3G. |

[2011-07-27] laura: ONLY works on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile,Verizon. No good to me! I use Sensorly. Works on 50+ networks worldwide & on my Samsung GalaxyS on US Cellular. |

[2011-07-26] cynikaloptimist: I have used this across 25 states It does consume battery. If you don't leave it running it isn't too bad. When I do my testing i always plug it in. To TB users, it is the phone |

[2011-07-15] dan: Works great! Had no readings in my area at first, then started testing. Now there is data every where i go. It's nice to see the results of my test |

[2011-07-06] Bill: My map doesn't update and show tests I've done. |

[2011-06-29] Gifters: GPS is accurate, can run continuous I have found the GPS to be accurate enough, you can have it run continuous by going to settings > applications > development > Stay Awake. So when you're driving with you phone charging, it will collect data. This also ensures that you don't kill your battery while not plugged in. The one thing that I don't like is the names for the different signal levels. I find that in some "Good" areas I can't make calls. Seems to weight heavier to a better signal. |

[2011-06-24] Eric: GPS not accurate |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-06-16] Steve: Great. Needs background or continuous testing. Agree with other comments. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-06-13] CW: After using this for a week or so, the areas I normally visit are now reflected pretty accurately. Wish it had an option to run in background. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-06-04] Will: Great app...an option to run in background at given intervals would be great. Of course this would need to be disabled, when requested. |

[2011-05-26] dOReGASM: Force closes on g2x |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-05-21] Happy Guy: Works fine on N1. Tests do not seem accurate. Sensorly and Coveragemapper do this better imo. |

[2011-04-28] R.Saini: Force closes. Please fix...... |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-23] CNemo: This app only collects data! No useful information provided to user! Where is provider comparison?! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-20] Robert: Running constantly, uses tons of battery, doesn't allow you to run a speed test unless signal is very good. Love the idea but I have to uninstall. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-18] Nick: Neat, but that's it. I guess it's another way for another company to make a buck off the consumer. But this tool is really, if you would call it, useful. Only, though, if you live in a large city with at least 500k population. And even then, I doubt, you'd get any kind of real accurate reporting. |

[2011-04-17] archboy: Very informative. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-14] wimbet: Needs improvement. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-14] sex: Testing methods and and interpolated (estimated) coverage hexagons are WAY off. Data speed map is completely wrong. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-14] Paul: Awesome coverage map This is a great little app - it's a much more accurate map of coverage than anywhere else, and your results show up quickly. I took my phone running, and two days later my entire neighborhood's coverage (which had been blank) was mapped out. Very cool. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-13] cmbarsotti: I've been submitting data for a week. It still says 'no data' for my city and asks me to submit data. Uninstall. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-13] Gus: Better bat than beta, but system prosesses still run in background causing heavy drain, i offered to help debug durring beta for free.. 1 star! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-13] Josh: Should be able to turn the app on and off so it doesn't drain the battery. Evo is already a battery hog. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-12] Jon: Needs more people to use to get accurate coverage areas. Need to be able to filter by carrier. Easier to get information. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-11] Luis: Great app-it does what its supposed to do rate and read signal- much better than carrier coverage maps |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-10] Myriade: Consumed 92 percent of my battery. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-09] Jarvite: Works Great!!! Yes, it uses battery when the app is in the foreground, but once leaving the app the GPS goes off. I don't why people don't understand this, they should buy an iPhone. This app downloads 3 nice detailed coverage map of the 4 major carriers, showing signal strength, data speed and something called RootScore. The results pages are nice, showing the upload and download speeds and a balloon popup that shows results at a specific location after a long press. The only criticism I have is that data is sparse. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-08] Eli: I just can't afford to have it use 81% of my battery |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-08] Mike: Does not work. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-08] Nino: The best Application! For network reliability data. Works perfect on the myTouch 4G |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] Rapp: love the app everyone should download this to help the community see which network performs better. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] Vicki: After I ran the test there were results and I went to status and there was info. Will update rating after some time. |

[2011-04-07] i4get75: Great idea, needs "other" carrier I'm a Us Cellular customer and I don't have an option for my carrier or an option to pick "other". I don't want to give false credit to another carrier for my signal. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] Seth: Needs landscape orientation |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] Ethan: Needs to support u.s. cellular and other smaller carriers. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] Rick: Huge battery drain on Thunderbolt. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] DRail: Great idea. This app used 26% of battery and the GPS seemed to always be on. Uninstalled till they get a better handle on the battery usage. Droid X |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-07] Jordan: 2 stars until battery use is under control. Used 45% of my battery in 6 hours. Samsung Vibrant |

[2011-04-07] Joseph: I love the concept, but the GPS is killing my battery, phone is hot to the touch when using the app with phone plugged in! :-( HTC Thunderbolt 2.2 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-06] HungrymaN: First!!! I predict this app will be downloaded more than 250,000 times |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
[2011-04-06] Aaron: Cool app. Heard about it from CNET. Seems like the info in my area takes a moment to post. I have ran multiple tests. |
