APRSdroid (v. 1.2.3) Разработано Georg Lukas |
APRSdroid is an APRS application for Amateur Radio (HAM) operators. It allows reporting your position as well as sending and receiving messages. It also conveniently displays nearby stations as a list or on a map.
Feel free to contact the author via e-mail with any issues you might encounter. If you are not satisfied, you will get a refund, no questions asked. As there is no way to reply to Play user reviews or to see who wrote them, please use e-mail!
To make full use of APRSdroid, you will need an APRS-IS passcode for your callsign. You can request one in advance at http://aprsdroid.org/passcode/
APRSdroid is Open Source Software written in Scala and licensed under the GPLv2.
The APRSdroid features are:
* See what is going on on APRS with the Hub View or on the map
* One-time or periodic position reporting to APRS
* APRS Messaging support
* Get detailed information about a station
* Follow the movement of a station on the map
* Support for GPS and network location
* Bi-directional APRS-IS support via TCP and AFSK
* Unidirectional position reporting via UDP and HTTP

The following features are planned for the next months:

[2013-09-05] A Google User: License required to listen? I have heard great things about this app, so I went ahead and bought it. I'm in the process of getting my license, I already have an HT and would like to decode the APRS data (no transmitting). This app requires a license for everything. I'll get my license this month though, and will review again then. |

[2013-09-05] A Google User: Fails to take into account call sign variations in the UK. Fails to take into account call sign variations in the UK where we must alter our call sign prefix by UK Country e.g. G ~ England, GM ~ Scotland, GW ~ Wales. When requested they do not provide an alternate activation code to allow such call sign modification, which is required by UK regulations. Otherwise it would be excellent. |
[2013-08-27] A Google User: Love this app Wish last update had a choice you could select from MPH or KM this is my only complaint. I live in USA. |
[2013-08-21] A Google User: Its Great |
[2013-08-20] A Google User: Pretty darn cool! I love the little communication device in my hand. It can do almost anything. But... It takes great software writers to make it work. APRSdroid is one of those "make it work" apps! Thanks, keep improving. 73,Karl K8ARL |
[2013-08-20] A Google User: Excellent! Excellent product |
[2013-08-20] A Google User: Awesome tool for hams Used this tool recently on a round trip from Iowa to Arizona and back. Worked flawlessly. The bonus was that I never had to look at the phone to see if I had cell service because I could hear the ping sound to know I had service 73 de KDøMCV |
[2013-07-27] A Google User: Quick response! App works exactly as advertised. Received my pass code in less than 24 hours. Kudos to the developer. 73! |
[2013-07-25] A Google User: Awesome and Simple. Love the app... great grapical representation of nearby aprs users and stations. |
[2013-06-24] A Google User: Android APRS Purchased yesterday, had my passcode within 15 minutes and was up on running on my Samsung Galaxy s-3. So far works perfect. I have used APRS with a handheld 2 meter radio and my reception was not as effective. Probably due to using low end equipment with minimal output. The only adjustment I would like to make is it sends out a message too frequently for my needs, otherwise great. |
[2013-06-23] A Google User: Nothing in maps. Nothing showing up on maps. Yes I have it selected in overlay options. |
[2013-06-10] A Google User: Great app. Works as described. I use it a lot during ARES & RACES events. |
[2013-05-22] A Google User: Tried google validation code Tried google validation code. where does this code come from.... not in my email & i paid for it. It says my call doesn't match the pass code probably because it came from google & THATS THE ONLY PASS CODE OR ANYTHING IN THE LIKE I RECEIVED. Sends over the mic LOL WOW |
[2013-05-20] A Google User: Good alternative way to get APRS data APRSdroid is a good way to send and receive APRS data when you don't have an APRS capable radio available. I carried my phone (S3) to the Dayton hamvention and it worked well under those high traffic conditions. I saw several others on the air at that time using the app.The software needs to provide speed and direction data for mobile and weather info from the APRS weather stations. |
[2013-04-12] A Google User: Good app Works well |
[2013-04-09] A Google User: Nice App for locating nearby repeaters. I have this app installed on my cellphone. I find the app to be very useful in locating nearby HAM repeaters. The Repeaters with APRS respond with a report stating their frequencies and how far away they are. Also, a Google map shows current location and location tracks for the previous 24 hours. APRSdroid works well as an alternate to report position when the GPS-TT4-2m rig is not hitting the repeater well. I've also found it useful as a tool to run side-by side a Microtrak-RTG to determine where all the APRS (and cell) coverage holes are. I am ordering the Byonics Bluetooth adapter for my TT4 and will see if 2m rig-TT4 w bluetooth-Android tablet or cellphone running APRSdroid can work well as an iGateway. Since Android tablets come with host-USB connectors, it would be nice if APRSdroid could talk directly to a KISS TNC. |
[2013-03-30] A Google User: Very Buggy, will get a refund The app was great when I was using it over TCP/IP only. I got a byonics bluetooth adapter and switched the app to bluetooth TNC mode. The app crashed immediately. Now even though I switched the app back to use TCP/IP it still tries to connect to bluetooth TNC and immediately crashes. |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: Dont buy this trash I bought it 4 days ago. Still no passcode. Its a scam. Hope you are not in a hurry to use it. You will have to beg for your passcode. That takes about 2 weeks. What a rip off. |
[2013-03-04] A Google User: Great app Use with my ft60 handheld via speaker/mike socket and HTC phone. Works 100% Great App. |
[2013-02-20] A Google User: Very Awesome, Best APRS app by far This is by far the best Android APRS app out there. With true AFSK and/or bluetooth, this program replaces the aggrivation of messing with a TNC. A must have for hams. *KF4NVX* |
[2013-02-02] A Google User: Excellent.. What else is there to say. |
[2013-01-28] A Google User: Great App I really love this app on my Motorola electrify. I cant wait till Georg add USB support for TNC's so I can connect it to my Kenwood D-710 and get rid of my netbook and Windows XP. 73 de Mike N7NMS |
[2013-01-25] A Google User: Excellent I use this on an Experia Play. Haven't installed my aprs radio yet, but "pocket aprs" is pretty cool! de N6OJY |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Great App Running this on my Spec 2 by LG, no problems so far, great app to have since I don't have a APRS sys on my radio's as of yet... Lennie T - N0LCT |
[2012-12-13] A Google User: Great app Works wonderfully and its very well written. The only things I'd like to see are an updated UI to match the flow if newer android versions (pagination, action bar, etc.) And the ability to function as a digipeater and send out custom packets such as battery voltage, etc. Keep up the good work! |
[2012-12-09] A Google User: Excellent Works perfectly well. Fast response for callsign activation. |
[2012-12-01] A Google User: Excellent app Been using app for almost a year now and it has never let me down. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Must have app Great APRS app for travelers how don't have an aprs setup. |
[2012-11-06] A Google User: Hmmm, So after having my email address for more than five years spam free I now get spam email after emailing the developer for this app. Coincidence? |
[2012-10-31] A Google User: Working fine Finally got my pass code and the program works fine |
[2012-10-23] A Google User: KC9WPR Fantastic application. Would like to see a more idiot proof filtering interface for idiots like me :) I agee with previous reviewers on having the option to change to standard or metric units. |
[2012-10-12] A Google User: Working fine It's working fine on my Motorola Photon Q LTE. The only things I'd like to see changed is a toggle between kilometers and miles, and a screen lock when showing the map. |
[2012-10-12] A Google User: Works well on droid 4 w/ics |
[2012-10-03] A Google User: crashes phone been debugging this off and on all week I find it ok as long as the app is in the foreground and the screen is active......if the phone display goes off or the app is in the background for more than 30 seconds it crashes my phone (htc desire android 2.3) and the phone reboots. only works well if display is on and you force phone to not let the display go to sleep. Which in turn kills the battery. Great if im in my car and I can keep it plugged in but useless if you want to walk and track at the same time. if you could fix the crashing while display is off it would be great, unfortunately only thing I can reliably do with it is look up the map and see who is around me which I can do with any free aprs app and website eagerly await any updates and am willing to work with the developer in getting it fixed |
[2012-10-02] A Google User: Excellent Had it now for several months. No probs at all on an old Desire |
[2012-10-01] A Google User: APRS I love it. |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: Works good Works good on my galaxy s3. Only wish is the messages would pop up when received. |
[2012-09-30] A Google User: The Best! No other APRS app comes close. |
[2012-09-29] A Google User: Love it. Works great on my HTC 4g LTE on Sprint. |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: Wonderful! Tried this app when I recently traded vehicles and didn't have my radio yet installed. Tracking is great with Smartbeaconing. I had one little glitch and had to reinstall the app. Other than that one time it works flawlessly. Money and time well spent. |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: Best APRS app Hands down the best APRS app I have used to date. |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: Great app Works great |
[2012-08-31] A Google User: key I didn't receive my key until I posted my previous review. If you are going to offer an app for a fee, then support should be immediate. I shouldn't have to wait days for the key. |
[2012-08-21] A Google User: Nice Adjustable smartbeaconing parameters would be nice. Chews up battery, but i dont think this can be helped. Great work overall. Thanks. |
[2012-08-17] A Google User: Very Intuitive If you have aprs experience, the interface will be very easy to understand. The features using the internet side are very good. My Asus Nexus 7 works very well. If you already run aprs and have an IS pass code, you should use it, you don't need another. I had the program up and running in less than five minutes. It appears that it is using its own server, so you don't have to figure that part out, nor do you specify the range/distance you want to see reports from. Nice job! |
[2012-08-08] A Google User: Works well when I'm not at the radio I was using a id800+duleo GPS before to send out my location but ever since my car battery died I haven't brought the time to reconfigure it so recently I've wanted to try out aprs again and this app has it all and even more than I had before |
[2012-08-05] A Google User: Stopped working with Android 4.0.3 I just upgraded my Evo 3D /4G operating system to 4.0.4 and now it does not longer works. It keep asking me to activate Network or gps. It does not respond on either case. It worked great before the upgrade |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: 2 weeks and 2 emails later, still no response Ok, so it will be 2 weeks on Tuesday, point is I was charged for the app, I registered and waited a week with no response from anyone at APRSdroid. I sent a second registration request and again it must have gone into the APRS BLACK HOLE. Maybe posting here will kick someone in the butt to send my registration code or if not Im going to ask for a refund from GOOGLE and SPRINT. BEWARE! |
[2012-06-21] A Google User: Set up impossible Aprs password attempt rejected over night. Makes software useless... |
[2012-06-11] A Google User: Works Great!!! I think it works great. Im a strom spotter, part of CERT and an Emergancy Medical Responder and It has done well for me.The only thing was it did take a cuple of days to get a pass code that you had to get to show you are a HAM. I will tell my friends about it. Thank you |
[2012-06-05] A Google User: Great app! No trouble getting up and running, will use it on a trip to Boise from Seattle soon. Highly recommend it! |
[2012-04-24] A Google User: Excellent app Everything I'd look for in a moble APRS app. |
[2012-04-13] A Google User: Worthless! I know where I am! Wanted to track other stations and search for a specific call. Money back? |
[2012-04-13] A Google User: Aprsdroid Great app had it a few weeks now and as a ham and a taxi driver it works really well :) |
[2012-04-12] A Google User: Good stuff. Pretty good app. Took about 10 days or so to get a passcode in my case, so best to get one elsewhere first. |
[2012-04-10] A Google User: Great App would like to see current speed displayed and the option to have the screen on without any time out while viewing map |
[2012-03-29] A Google User: Great App BUT..... Why does the new update require access to my HARDWARE settings to RECORD AUDIO ????? APRS **IS NOT** A VOICE COMMUNICATIONS MODE !!!!! |
[2012-03-26] A Google User: Terriffic App! |
[2012-03-24] A Google User: Great! Works and its an enjoy to use! |
[2012-03-23] A Google User: Excellent Program Five minutes to set it up, then off on an 800 mile trip. Works great, no problems at all. |
[2012-03-15] A Google User: Just great!! This is the best APRS app for Android. It works really well, is highly customizable and everything you need is already built in. It works well with various devices and adapts well to whatever screen including the high resolution Galaxy Note. Highly recommended for licensed amateur radio operators. |

[2012-02-28] A Google User: Good for running the battery down freeware works, pay for App doesn't. If 2 droids are sitting next to each other....... |
[2012-02-27] A Google User: Works on my HTC EVO Works great. Wish it would auto follow / center your own call sign, maybe I just haven't found out how. External power needed, or battery will drain! |
[2012-02-27] A Google User: Awesome I can hold it to my ht to get and send objects |
[2012-02-27] A Google User: For a ham its a must.. $ KD5YOV Could be used as a tracker if you have it... |
[2012-02-27] A Google User: love the app love the app and it does track your call by clicking on yourself then map. only issue i habe at the moment is since the last update using afsk crashes the app on my samsung galaxy Y. Duncan |

[2012-02-22] A Google User: HAM GREAT APP WORKS GREAT |
[2012-02-20] A Google User: Very Nice Very nice app, works well, very responsive on my DroidX. Submitted a request for a passcode on Saturday evening and got it Sunday afternoon. I am very happy with this app, and the price sure beats buying the card for my radio along with a new GPS that would connect to it! |
[2012-02-18] A Google User: Still waiting.............. Downloaded this thing a week ago and have not received my passcode yet. I can understand a few days but come on...even the FCC isn't this slow! App seems to be ok but usless without the code. |

[2012-02-06] A Google User: Great Got my passcode fast and used it on and off for a few weeks while on vacation. Worked very well for such a new app. Before you rate an app Insure you are doing your part correctly. |
[2011-12-24] A Google User: Afsk doesn't work Testing the generated AFSK signal with a known working packet modem revealed that it doesn't work past making an audible screeching. Apparently it is off frequency or not timed properly, at least on my LG. BEWARE and try it out before buying if you plan to use on-air! |
[2011-12-12] A Google User: Great app, Responsive dev The developer is actively working to enhance this app, and is very responsive to problems or enhancement requests. |
