Lock your phone's screen from within any application, without using your power button.

Long-press the search button or use the notification bar to instantly lock your screen. No need to exit your current application to lock the phone with a homescreen widget!

Cut down on the wear on your power button (a real concern for Nexus One owners), or if your power button has already failed (like mine) avoid the hassle of returning to the home screen every time you want to lock your phone.

Unfortunately, this app cannot wake the phone up from sleep. That requires functionality not provided by normal Android system installations. A custom ROM such as Cyanogen will do that for you.

NOTE: SoftLock must be registered as a device administrator to work. This is a requirement of the Android system for locking the screen. SoftLock will prompt you to do this the first time you use it. IN ORDER TO UNINSTALL SOFTLOCK YOU *MUST* UNREGISTER IT! Unregistration can be done through the SoftLock app, or through your phone's security settings.
