Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley Beware Group is conducting a research study about human activity recognition based on mobile sensor data. The goal of this research study is to understand people's daily activities from data collected by their smart phones.

This application is created to collect data from the embedded sensors in the Android phone including Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Gyroscope (If available), Ambient Light sensor, GPS and Compass. The application will also collect power consumption and Mac address as well as signal strength of surrounding WIFI access points. These data will only be used for the purpose of this particular research project. We will not collect any identify information such as user name, phone number or email address from your phone.

Participating in this study may not benefit you directly, but the knowledge received may be of value to humanity.

The information you will share with us if you participate in this study will be kept completely confidential to the full extent of the law. Your information will be assigned a code number that is unique to this study. You consent form will be kept in a locked location in Carnegie Mellon University and will not be disclosed to third parties. Only the authorized researchers will be able to access data collected from you.

Have you ever wanted to send a secret message to someone without having to go through the process of encrypting it and then having the recipient decrypt it?  

Now you can with this simple app! All you do is enter the message in the first text box and choose to encrypt it using the default key or with your own key. Then send it to the desired recipient through an email attachment or using Kik Messenger (Android only).

It is highly recommended to use this app in conjunction with Kik Messenger.

!PLEASE keep in mind that there is currently no iOS partner app to use with Kik so iOS users will not be able to decrypt from their app. I will be working on a server side client that will be able to decrypt the message via the web until I can build an iOS version. !

Wi-Fi, Sync,... Scheduler (v. 1.2)

This TaskBomb add-on allows you to schedule turning on and off Wi-Fi, Sync, Bluetooth, and airplane mode. Using TaskBomb you can integrate these behaviors with whatever else you want to schedule. For example:

"Switch off WiFi and Sync when I set my morning alarm and go to bed; turn them back on 30 seconds before my morning alarm goes off."

Since TaskBomb uses relative scheduling, you can add as many actions as you want and it doesn't mean any more work for you when it comes time to set your alarm, even if you wake up a different time everyday.

Switching off wireless overnight is an easy way to conserve energy. The plan is to eventually add more functions such as 3G and 4G.

TaskBomb is an automation app (sometimes called "task scheduler", "job scheduler", "batch processor", etc.) that allows you to schedule apps and actions to automatically run. It's similar in function to the cron command on Linux and somewhat like an alarm clock (you can set alarms and snooze actions). TaskBomb aims to be small and simple, and leverage the power of the apps you have on your phone.

One of TaskBomb's greatest assets is its unique and flexible scheduling system that allows you to create modular, reusable schedules that can be run at any time, attached to alarms, or added to other schedules.

This add-on is basically a little app, but you don’t run the app itself. Once you install this add-on, it will appear as a choice in the “Data” field of a task definition.  You use the “Toggleable items" menu to choose which item to set, then use the task’s “Activity” to select whether turn the item on, off, or toggle it.
