ShopFloorTalk is a discussion forum for anyone interested in welding, fabrication, machining and general metal work of all kinds.

We cater to the professional as well as the home shop hobbyist and even the "wanna-be" metal worker with aspirations of taking up the hobby. While our membership is uniquely suited to helping beginners get started in the field, our professional and master craftsmen exchange tricks of their special skills and trades in a generous range of ideas.

We are independently owned with no corporate ties to inhibit or influence the free flow of ideas or product preferences.

Individual sub forums in the public area include this partial list:

Fabrication: Show off you projects and pictures of them and general discussions of fabrication techniques, knowledge and equipment

Equipment, Suppliers and OEM's: General discussion of welding equipment manufacturers, general shop equipment manufacturers and distributors of this and other equipment.

Welding Processes: Discussions of all welding and allied processes including but not limited to; stick, mig, tig, oxy/fuel welding and brazing.

Machining: For discussion of turning, milling, drilling, tapping, precision grinding, etc. Related equipment, techniques and practices.

Metallurgy and Materials: General discussion on the metals and materials we use in our projects.

Shop Safety: Anything that applies to general safety.

Shop Forum: This Forum is to discuss building a shop, electrical needs, compressed air systems, shop layout, shop equipment, beer coolers, and other relevant needs.

General Welding Information: This section is meant as a reference area for general welding data, safety information, etc.

The Members Only section is for general free-wheeling discussion of subjects ranging from items to sale or trade, from jokes to computers to politics to firearms and a special section for new Member Introductions.

QuickCard is a business card that is sent through a text message. It is a quick and convenient way to send new acquaintances your name, e-mail, phone number, or anything else. Through a text message.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Save your information in QuickCard
Step 2: Type in the mobile number of a new friend
Step 3: Tap the send button

Now your new friend has all of your contact information stored on their phone and you have their phone number.

Piconvo is a simple and fun app to swap photos with your friends and family members, taken with your phone camera.  The last photo you send to a friend is displayed on a split screen with the last photo the friend sent you.  As each of you send a new photo the split screen is updated accordingly. A separate gallery for each friend with the last 10 photos sent to you by the friend is included.      

You can conduct photo swaps with multiple friends simultaneously.

Note that friends with whom you swap photos must also have an Android 2.1+ device with Piconvo installed.  The photos are transmitted over a data connection, rather that MMS / SMS, so if you are connected to WiFi this connection will be used (will not use up your data plan).

Piconvo is NOT like apps such as PicSwap or ImageSwap in which you receive random photos in response to sending a photo.  With Piconvo you are exchanging pictures with your own friends / contacts only.

Hints and Tips
---------------
1.  After taking a photo with camera, touching the OK / Done / Save button is required to send the photo.

2.  Touch any photo to rotate.

3.  Try the app out by adding yourself to your contact list (including your mobile phone number) and send a photo to yourself.
