Mobile Grid Client is a Second Life (SL) and Open Simulator (OpenSim) messaging client/viewer with local chat, IM, group chat, people search, mini map, the ability to teleport, inventory support and more.
The unique client-server architecture of Mobile Grid Client keeps you connected to the grid all the time, even when your phone is in standby and keeps the traffic low.

To be honest, I tried this myself and even got some friends to use it as well but when trying to run a business in SL and having to pay to get on a viewer is ridiculous. I felt paying for Lumiya was more worth then paying monthly to try to get on SL with my phone. There are some pro's and cons but honestly paying monthly to just be on SL with a mobile client is just leaves a bad taste. |

I first started to use this app in the summer of 2010. My only complaint is that I would expect more frequent updates with new features, especially for an app that charges a monthly fee. Being able to view textures would be awesome. |

And for all you talki.g about other clients if you like them so mich go there and leave this one alone. I mean really some people dont use cash on games or want a battery eater. You get exactly what you see. |

[2013-01-15] A Google User: Switched. This was good when it was the only SL app for Android. It's not necessarily a bad app; it did what I needed it for which was mainly to chat with friends. But I'd rather pay an upfront cost then no monthly fee for usage so I switched to Lumiya. If the dev will continue to make improvements and make it worth the monthly fee I might consider switching back. |

This app doesn't also flood your notification bar every time someone says something in local. That side, there are some oddities I've noticed with JB 4.2. The app will randomly close or is killed and i'm not running any 'task killer'. |

But with no major improvements to functionality in 2 1/2 years, there wasn't any value before... Now Lumiya does all that Mobile Grid Client does, for a one time fee of about 3 months of this app. Unlike Lumiya, this app has no 3D rendering, the best it does is show you a high level 2D view of the map of your current sim. I'm not sure why this app is even still available when Lumiya does everything better. |

[2012-11-10] A Google User: I would have used this more but for the fees I have 3 Android mobiles a tablet and a Blackberry playbook so it is not fair or practical to pay a fee on each and every device that I may have with me at the time. So I will only use it on my BB playbook as I am able to chat and listen to the music stream at the same time which does not seem to work on the Android platform(s) I have. I guess I will be getting the new Asus Nexus? LOL As they expect your Avatar to pay with Linden L$ in World I believe it would be fair that Avatar as a main Avatar who paid be able to play on any device for the month it has paid for. using a password as normal. After all I'd be paying for the use of mobile data and a fee and when at home I use a notebook or other PC So as a work around I use my phone as a WIFI hotspot and use my notebook to play SL ....YAY! |

I hear a ding, see 'new message's in the task bar, but when I open it there's no message displayed and I have to ask around for repeats of what was said. The monthly fee is ridiculous. None of the TPV's for PC have charges, this shouldn't either. Especially since I can't move, see images sent to me, or handle estate controls. For me, that last one kinda defeats the purpose of needing to be in-world while away in the first place. |

[2012-10-08] A Google User: Get Lumiya, a full 3d viewer. Another app "Lumiya" is now on the market for a flat one time fee. It has full 3d viewing, which now includes full avatar rendering and animation. Mobile Grid Client has become outdated and is overpriced with its monthly fee's. Lumiya's next update will include full clicking on objects like poseballs making it a complete full blown viewer. Don't pay this dev monthly, get Lumiya. Why would you pay monthly for less features and only be able to use text chat? If you could care less about having a normal 3d viewer and want text chat only, with Lumiya you can turn off 3d rendering and its the same thing as this archaic viewer w/o having to pay a monthly fee. Even worse, this guy charges you extra (on top of the normal fee) if you want the "premium" feature of being able to keep the viewer open in the background while you use your phone for other things; again something Lumiya has included in its one time cost. Schlager the dev of this app had over a year head start and decided to screw people with a monthly fee, an extra monthly fee for background notifications, and had the nerve never to bother updating the app to add new features. @Schlager... Who's laughing now? lols |
