Have you ever been trying to meet friends in a large public space, but been unable to find each other? I created GPS Share for just such a scenario.

GPS Share lets you privately send a Google Maps link of your location to whomever you want, whenever you want, however you want. Send an SMS message to rendezvous with friends at a stadium or email yourself a reminder of where you parked at the airport. Post road trip updates to Twitter.

Unlike Latitude and many other services, GPS Share does not run in the background and does not share your location with a third party. You use it when you want it.

GPS Share is free and Open Source software and has no advertising. Internet access is used only to download Google Maps tiles.

Thanks for taking the time to put this ad free utility in the market. The 1 star ratings are bogus. If a friends phone can't handle the text message the problem is the friends phone not this app.

Too simple This is a good idea. Every Android phone should have the ability to display GPS location. This app should show the Lat and Long at the top or bottom of the screen at all times. The only way to get it is to send to some other app and read it.

Almost perfect Works great but it would be cool if: (1) The map generated included the circle of uncertainty to convey the accuracy of the location. (2) The user was prompted to turn on WiFi if necessary (like the google map app does). (3) The preview map included a distance scale. (4) The preview map allowed the sender to adjust the location pin to a new location.

Thanks Ken Ken to the rescue, just when Google map update finally broke an already troublesome Latitude app, I was relieved to find Kens app allowed our location sharing to happen, without a struggle. Excellent for a quick fix!

Better than google maps! I noticed on a trip to the dunes (middle of no where) google maps would not let me share my location. GM seems only to work at a physical address. This should work anywhere.
