Human Japanese is the best way to learn basic Japanese on a phone app. Go check it out.

Just waste of time. However app is cool. The app is definitely not for learning at it's present form. Pros: 1) You can show your friends that you know some kanji and you can write them. Cons: 1) All parts of the app are too small - scribble window, the reading of a kanji, menus. Can't imagine entering kanji on 3" screen. Mine is 4". 2) Would rather see handwriting recognition as an option, but not the main feature. After 10 minutes become annoying. You would rather look for a flash-card looking app and a separate handwriting recognition tool.

There is no way you can learn Japanese on a phone app but this is a great supplement to a text book and audio lessons when all you have is your phone
[2010-12-16] Coren:
Nice concept, but the program accepts any scribbles that have the correct number of strokes, which is ridiculous!

Pretty handy app, but adding stroke order would make it a lot nicer.
[2010-11-09] Janna:
As long as u get the right number of strokes, says ur correct no matter what u write!

Very cool.

Please tell me how to buy the full version...all links seem not to be working... imkiusa@gmail.com
[2010-09-30] Michael:
This thing is crap. Never used a japanese program before that as long as you get the # of strokes right you get the answer right when writen wrong.

Great app for practice! May I suggest being able to build custom lists or a 'favs' list of kanji you need extra work on?
