JED - Japanese Dictionary (v. 0.5.5) Разработано Attila Korompai |
Dear Users,
Since Google doesn't allow to upload paid apps from where I live, I decided put my android projects on hold and spend my time on better prospects. I would like to thank all of you for your kind support!
If JED is not working for you, please try an alternative:
Aedict
WWWJDIC for Android
Kabuto Japanese Dictionary
Makimono Japanese Dictionary
Japanese plus
Cooori JED
These guys are doing a fantastic job, please support them, so their apps don't end up like this one!
Best Regards,
Attila

[2013-07-04] A Google User: I owe all that I know about Japanese to this app Thank you so much |
[2013-07-02] A Google User: An excellent resource For someone learning Japanese, this app is accurate, fast, and easy to use efficiently. It has an excellent balance of kanji, furigana, and romaji. This makes it easy for persons at all levels to use. すごい 辞典! |
[2013-06-28] A Google User: GOOD!!! GOOD!!!!!! VERY useful for learning and convenient |
[2013-06-24] A Google User: Sexy I have no issues with this app. It's fantastic. What would make it a 5 star app though would be an implementation of a flash card part. :D |
[2013-06-19] A Google User: Nice |
[2013-06-18] A Google User: Not bad, not good Not as powerful as imiwa! From ios :'( Examples use kanji, hiragana and katakana would be better for beginners. If imiwa arrive on android ill switch... |
[2013-06-17] A Google User: Great app - but Anki integration broke :( I love this app, especially for its tag feature. It used to export tags to anki and that worked great. Then Anki2.0 came and the export feature stopped working I hope an update fixes anki integration soon. That will make the app 5 stars again, IMHO. |
[2013-06-17] A Google User: Cool Nice appp |
[2013-06-16] A Google User: Ppp Ppp |

[2013-06-10] A Google User: Very useful I'm leaning Japanese and this help me a lot. |
[2013-06-08] A Google User: Good, But Aedict Better Finds the word and gives examples. Like the radical look up dictionary too. But, why I think Aedict better: 1) No romaji in many break downs. 2) Doesn't have quiz feature for words saved in your tag list like Aedict. However, if JED made those changes, it would be the better program, because of it's other features. Including that they are actively updating JED. |

[2013-04-28] A Google User: Make it like kotoba /imiwa? I admire your effort in this app but being aware that kotoba have a wide an precise translating and meaning, i don't see why you wouldn't |
[2013-04-27] A Google User: Perfect! I take japanese classes and this app helps me quickly look up words I may have forgotten or need to know. I sometimes how I made it this far without the assistance of this app. |

[2013-04-17] A Google User: Nice app So good for a free app. I wish you can continue and release paid app with improved features |
[2013-04-14] A Google User: Good, but still needs some features I had trouble installing on part 2 of 6 but managed to get through.. I'd love if the new UI gets released soon.. I can't see how to read kanji in the examples part in each word result (maybe give romaji translation?).. Plus i think there's a bug.. Some part of the UI gets stuck at the bottom of the screen.. Looking forward to the next update... |
[2013-04-13] A Google User: Meh. Coming from the IPhone market where free apps such as Imiwa are much, much more powerful, this is pretty lacking by comparison. Not impressed at all. |
[2013-04-13] A Google User: I never needed anything else It could be used offline and the dictionary itself is impressive once you install it. Great job! |
[2013-04-10] A Google User: Looks good hope it'l be useful |
[2013-04-07] A Google User: Nice Great |
[2013-04-06] A Google User: Lame |
[2013-04-06] A Google User: Elegant, simple to use, tags The interface is intuitive. I like that there is a "recent history" feature. Also the tag feature is great for remembering words that you've looked up and want to keep. |

[2013-03-28] A Google User: Good |
[2013-03-26] A Google User: JED Great app. Wish that the dev would come back and update it. |
[2013-03-26] A Google User: Amazing I used this in Japan when I was there for 2 months. I had some basic Japanese. The app is so useful - mostly the all search but all the functions are so practical if you can't read a kanji or want an example sentence. And takes up little room and doesn't need WiFi or data. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this great app. I love it. |
[2013-03-24] A Google User: Best I can say it is the best Japanese-English and vice versa dictionary. Recommended. |
[2013-03-21] A Google User: Very useful! Great dictionary! Would reccomend this to anyone learning japanese. |
[2013-03-20] A Google User: Amazing This app is great. I use it almost everyday. It's rare when it doesn't have a word or kanji that I'm looking for. It even has example sentences. A must own for anyone studying Japanese. |
[2013-03-19] A Google User: Excellent A very useful Japanese - English dictionary. |
[2013-03-15] A Google User: Best offline dictionary for Android Great Japanese dictionary, unfortunately the word lists are no longer updated. I would love to have compound words for a kanji and a little more flexibility with romanjis, like "tu" for つ. |
[2013-03-15] A Google User: Amazing This app has been a lifesaver. The dictionary is vast and very helpful, with some very nice features. I'd like to see more examples of how each word or term is used, but I really can't find any notable flaws with this app.どうも有難う御座います!! |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Fast, convenient, accurate Very good dictionary, works well. My only concern is that it is not supported anymore and so the dictionary files are not updated. |
[2013-03-05] A Google User: Needs audio Great dictionary but audio of Japanese pronunciation would be great. |
[2013-03-04] A Google User: Best Japanese Language Learning Resource! This is simply the best you can get on Android and I find it easier to use than my Word Tank. Having it on my phone also makes things alot easier (I can misplace my Word Tank but I always have my phone with me). Google needs to allow the author to be paid so we can have updates for it! |
[2013-02-28] A Google User: Sweet Sweet |
[2013-02-25] A Google User: Can't install it Installation stops at 2/6 despite a good connection. I would really love to have this app on my phone; the reviews are glowing! Thanks for recommending alternatives, though. I'm currently using Aedict and it works perfectly. |
[2013-02-12] A Google User: Excellent Thank a lot |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: Useful if I had more space install the dictionaries |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Best dictionary ever Without fail, finds the words and variations of them that my three other dictionary apps can't. I use this every day! |
[2013-02-03] A Google User: Great The best Japanese dictionary on Android, with example sentences, conjugation and kanji search. Must have if you're learning Japanese. |
[2013-01-30] A Google User: Awesome The best Japanese dictionary |
[2013-01-25] A Google User: excellent application this is a awesome application.. comprehensive words.. i like it... |
[2013-01-23] A Google User: Excellent! While the developer may be spending their time making money elsewhere this dictionary is by far the best I've come across from English to Japanese. The only thing missing are more information surrounding each term. But that I can look for elsewhere. Love this, thank you. |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Excellent |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Indespencible. Always using this while watching anime. |
[2013-01-15] A Google User: Helpful It help me to teach my grade 2 daughter. Thank you so much. |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Necessity Rarely do reviews, can't hold myself back here though. Started learning Japanese 5 years ago, live here now. All this time JED helped me tremendously (esp.in combination with anki). Love the sentence examples. There are two things that would make it perfect: the ability to add new entries to the dictionary, and kanji recognition (need to use different app simultaneously). Apart from that, great! Thank you! |
[2013-01-08] A Google User: Excellent!! A very good app. It does not need huge phone memory space |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: Great app Too bad that the developper stop to work on it. Give examples of sentences is great but it will be better with an hiragana translation or some link to the kanji. Thanks |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Excellent I see no reason why anyone would dislike this app. Perfect. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: The best Japanese dictionary I would definitely pay for this app. I recently spent a semester in Japan and had to buy an electronic dictionary for $300 AUD and this is so much better! |
[2013-01-05] A Google User: One of my favourite apps I use this very day to look up words I hear and read around me and its really helpful. One thing I would suggest is that the example sentences should be searchable too |
[2013-01-03] A Google User: The best japanese dictionary installed here in play store!! Excellent!! ★★★★★ |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: Best japanese dictionary i have used so far It looks fantastic. I use it regularly for translations and so far it was the most reliable and most convinient japanese dictionary i have used |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: ワンダフル! great app! |
[2012-12-26] A Google User: Great, easy app, excellent dictionary Easy too look up words, can search in romaji, english etc. Has furigana for kanji, Handy example sentences, Also has all forms for verbs and adjectives listed for each one. |
[2012-12-22] A Google User: Doesn't work It couldn't even fetch its own data to download the dictionary |
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Stopped working after update, crashes on startup. Definitely the best dictionary for Android. Really fast to use. |
[2012-12-18] A Google User: Amazing app, it is REALLY useful and one of the best tools for building vocabulary. |
[2012-12-17] A Google User: Perfect Perfect dictionary app, definitely a must have. It helps a lot with uncommon words and phrases. |
[2012-12-15] A Google User: Cooool!! It's very useful app. Great japanese dictionary ever! |

[2012-12-10] A Google User: Great free app The best Japanese dictionary for Android that I have found. |
[2012-12-07] A Google User: day .tf |
[2012-12-05] A Google User: Error on Galaxy Tab 2 This is a brilliant dictionary ! Very well organised, with real-time searching, all ofline. Should be 4-5 stars but doesn't work on my tablet (works perfectly on my phone though) |
[2012-12-03] A Google User: Best Japanese dictionary app Most user-friendly Japanese-English dictionary I could find. Only drawback is that it lacks a touch-screen kanji-drawing feature. |
[2012-12-03] A Google User: Best Japanese dictionary for droid I love this app. I was used to using kotoba for apple products but I couldn't find a good. Dictionary for my phone but this is it. It is great that it is also free without the ads. Even if they charged for it. I would still get it. |
[2012-11-26] A Google User: Nice This is really nice n easy to use for me |
[2012-11-26] A Google User: Fantastic app Works super well. I there is a bunch of little tools to help you find what you are looking for. |
[2012-11-23] A Google User: Good Maybe too comprehensive, with words that japanese rarely use themselves. Need to be careful. |
[2012-11-23] A Google User: Screenshots look different Interface/Screenshots look different on my phone. O_o why is that? Please continue development.. Put up a Pro version, donate button, anything that would help. This is the best jisho here in Play. It's really sad, disheartening to hear that it'll be abandoned already. |
[2012-11-22] A Google User: Very good |
[2012-11-22] A Google User: Good Only wish I could also input kanji by drawing. |
[2012-11-20] A Google User: Best Best japanese dictionary! Very effective app. Great job. |
[2012-11-17] A Google User: Great but still need some improvement to be excellent I love it so much. Learning japanese is become simpler for me now. But still i have to look back to my Kanji Dictionary because i couldnt find some words here. So many word that contains more than one kanji and when we dont even know the read then we search it by radicals, its only showing one kanji. Means u have to re-checking for the other one. It takes more time. But over all this is a great apps. Good job. |
[2012-11-14] A Google User: Lovely app, only one thing missing All in all, this app works like a charm, not just finding the meaning of words and characters it also gives you examples in the form of sentences, neat! The only thing I really miss in this app would be writing recognition whilst looking up kanjis. If that was a possibility within this app I'd pour money over it. So far my denchi-jisho have been lying mosly unused in its case, except for those times when I prefer to look up kanjis using writing (with a fiddly pen, on a much too used device). |
[2012-11-13] A Google User: Best of all the free ones. |
[2012-11-12] A Google User: Your own dictionary in your hands Great and reliable, each word you search you will get it. Not surprising if you have more than 300000 words in the dictionary! |
[2012-11-10] A Google User: Good offline dictionary Good free, comprehensive two way offline dictionary. Example sentences, Kanji stroke order. More name support would be great to help with pronunciation. |
[2012-11-09] A Google User: Dictionary's downloading speed is too slow It took me 5 hours to download the dictionary. FIVE HOURS !!! With about 20+ times of failing, good thing is that it didn't force me to download from the beginning. And no, it wasn't because of my Internet connection, I tried downloading other stuffs and it still ran with full-speed. There must have been something wrong with the server. But other than that, this is a good app and I'm looking forward to the new features, especially the new UI and the hand-writing input. Also it would be nice if you considered adding a voice-input feature too. |
[2012-11-08] A Google User: Best dictionary for ur phone So easy and simple to use with Japanese and romaji |
[2012-11-08] A Google User: Yay!!!! Wow. What an incredible app! |
[2012-11-06] A Google User: Me gusto Es bien practico y util, muy bueno |
[2012-11-05] A Google User: Very comprehensive! Feature-wise, I think it's very good. So far the best dictionary I've used, even better than Aedict. Dictionary + conjugation of not only group 1 and group 2 verbs, but also grp 3! The only nitpicking I have now is that the touch-zone for the cross symbol to delete the currently entered text in the search box at the top with one touch is too small. I have to press to the right half of the image of the cross to trigger the clearing of the text box, making it a little hard to switch between searches quickly. |
