[2013-02-18] A Google User: Unusable This app was amazing before the update. Now I can't extract the downloaded files so can't use it at all. Please fix! |
[2013-02-17] A Google User: Problems with Version 3 I have exactly the same issues as other users with this update. "Now, it says validating resources, starts to download, then force closes everytime". Fortunately I had backed up version 2 & reloaded it. This is an excellent app. but this problem needs fixing. One star for version 3 until it works! |
[2013-02-17] A Google User: Update workaround fine I haven't had any issues with the update and the app is working fine. The validation on open takes less than 5 seconds. Still my favorite app and invaluable in the field! |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: UPDATE FRIED A great app screwed up by a worthless update. Same as everyone else downloader crashes at 70%. Get it straight; come on why did you mess with it in the first place. |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: Works good on iPad 2, but on the Android??? I download this app this morning to my HTC Evo Shift & it downloaded just fine. When I tried to extract it, it forced closed @ 76 %. I went to troubleshooting page & it stated to completely uninstall app & reload it. Did this 7+ times & it stopped same place everytime. I have over 1.5 GB of free space on my SD card so that shouldn't be a problem. Unless you have to load it to the phones memory first before it gets to the SD card, I don't know what the problem is. Emails are unanswered. |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: Version 3 ruined the app Since the last update, the only way you can use this in the field is to leave it running all the time. Every time you open it you have to wait 30 seconds, if you're one of the lucky ones who can get to work at all. Also, it's absurd to not have the option to put the large data storage on the external SD card. It stays at one star until they fix it! |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: Insufficient Storage?? There is 32Gig available on this freakin' device!!! I paid GOOD money for this app. FIX IT! |
[2013-02-16] A Google User: 3.0 fried New version fried the app. Won't finish unpacking. Now the old version wouldn't load back in either. Works on tablets, but will not work on my phone! Fix please, don't want to drag the tablet, phone, camera, tripod and other gear everywhere I go! |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Bummer!!! This app was sweet until the new update now its worthless. Don't waste your money on it. |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Space Hog Cannot run this app anymore. Takes way too much space and only runs on internal storage. |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: I love this guide. but new last update not working I love this guide. But the latest update keeps stalling on the download manager and quitting unexpectedly. Still occurring with new version 3.0 when fixed. |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: What happened The ib 3 Update makes the app unuseable. Have spent hours deleting reinstalling. STILL NOT WORKING! |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Latest Updated Fails Now dead in the water on a birding trip. You can always trust a paper field guide! Hope it's up & running soon, but no help just when I really need it. Too bad, because the day before yesterdau it was a big help Rating based on current condition: 0 stars |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Stupid update It did work until the stupid update! Fix please! I paid money for this app!!!!! I want my money back! |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Lol Awesome. Can't update to 3.0 cos I don't have 600MB free on my phone. There's 9GB on the SD card wasting away though. Great new download system. Might have to take back some stars. |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: Awesome Best app on market |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: This is an Exhaustive program Very pleasantly surprised at the Awesome work of this application. It frees me from several books when out in the field. The calls are easy to get to and control. Very worth the money. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Fantastic I bird... I fool my cats.... I fool other birds...I read up on local and non local species. All with this great app. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Pretty good |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Birdlover Love, love, love it. When I can't go out to see my birds, I can armchair bird watch. The number of pictures are extremely helpful for ID in the field. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: App will not unpack Please send out a fix for this program . After looking at the reviews of your update I see that I am not alone at being able to get this program to work again. This has been a very good program up till the time I decided to download the update. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Update broke this app Thanks guys, your update took a perfectly good app and ruined it. Now, it says validating resources, starts to download, then force closes everytime. I have tried opening it 10 times. I want my money back. UPDATE: I got a reply from ibird support with a "solution" involving a 3rd party file manager, removing the ibird folder from the SD card, clearing the cache, and uninstalling. It didn't work and I still want my money back! |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Need external sd support I don't know about other brands... But the Droid Razr & other Motorola devices use an "internal" sd card (partition of the main memory as I understand it) & a true external (removable) sd card. If there is a way to force iBird to install to the external sd I can't figure it out. I truly LOVE the app but am forced to uninstall because it uses so much internal space my phone is unusable. I know Motorola did some weird things with the memory on their phones but PLEASE help find a way around this problem! |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: App problem Everything was fine til the new version, now nothing works. Don't buy til they fix the android app. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: 1.2gb? While the app is nice enough when you get it running, the devs continue to be seriously challenged by database management issues. In the new version there are two separate DBs with 600 mb plus in size. You only realize this after an excruciatingly long install/extraction process. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: (Was a) Great App for Birders Version 2 was great. Since installing version 3 on my G2 every time I start the app it wants to spend 10+ minutes extracting the archive... every time. I'll be reverting back to version 2 until they finish cooking this one. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: BROKEN |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Awesome Awesome photos, information, awesome everything! The sounds are fantastic, great quality. Only peeve is that it's had issues every now and then with auto closing, not opening properly, needing to be reinstalled, etc. Without those issues, a 5! Love it! |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Portrait orientation only? Really? Wow... Portrait orientation only? Do you guys own a Android tablet? Sheesh! On an app this good and this graphically supported and has this many photographs, do you really want to be my only app of 325 on my tablet the doesn't rotated to landscape? Come on. You guys are better then this. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: I'm in love with this 3.0 update Awesome on Acus Nexus 7 tablet. Installed at Barnes and Noble, took over an hour to download 629 MB. At least I wasn't paying for the bandwidth (don't try this on a cellular network unless you don't mind using a months allocation. Extraction took 10 min. Now I know why iBird has the highest rating of any birding app, 4.5: superb search engine works amazingly well at ID. The songs attract birds right to my Nexus. I'm hooked. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Good app but.... Still only uses internal sd card on tablet. Needs support for moving massive data directory to external sd card on tablets. Validating Resources takes 30 seconds or more every time you open the app. Why? No landscape support. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: What the...? Horrible update! This just made the app unusable! It won't even open! |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Amazing Bargain If you're a birder, you'd be crazy to not buy this app. It's a steal. If you're rating this less than 5 stars, you're also crazy. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Crashed Now new update won't extract. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Awesome 3.0 Update - Killer App I've always loved this app and this impressive update makes it the best app on my tablet. The installer is much faster since they are using the Google servers. As I understand it they changed the method of downloading from using a custom installer and their own servers to using the new Google download service that uses Google servers. The Google method is based on downloading a ZIP file of the database and then unzipping it. What was interesting is that I started the installation on my fast home network but had to leave the house in the middle of the download. I took my tablet with me and when I got to a public WiFi it smoothly picked up the download and finished! I think that is pretty neat. The new species are great and I love the updated illustrations. The new popup tutorials in the search helped me master the engine. I can ID birds much faster now. Thank you iBird. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Force close Droid 3 and a solution Attempting to install update and it force closes at the end of verification, making it useless. Droid 3, no root, all stock. Further working on the install succeeded in completing it. I had to use a third party file management program and root out the entire app from the phone including the iBirdpro folder on the SD card. That finally allowed it to install. Installing phone apps should NEVER require the use of other apps to complete the install, nor should any sort of computer management skills be required |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: 3.0 Amazing Update If there is one app you must have this is it. The update is incredible. Love the new drawings. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: 3.0 is unusable I recommend waiting to download 3.0 until a fix is released. I can no longer use what was a favorite app. Database will not complete extraction. Force close at 75%. Tried to extract several times. I would simply uninstall update, but that option is not provided. I hope when fix is released my Notes are still intact. Disappointing. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Ibird pro Very good until the new 3 update. My DROID hates it. It downloaded but won't load. Its useless. Works good on my XOOM. |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: the best |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: Very good bird app Samsung 10.1 tablet |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: Can't live without it. This book is extraordinairy, I use it all the time, I have it for my Ipod when I'm in the field and on my Samsung Galaxy tab 2 when at home. For the price you can't beat it. |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: Highly recommend What a great app, very comprehensive! |
[2013-02-07] A Google User: Great Database but Lack Luster Interface I've evaluated a few of these, though iBird Pro has a wealth of information to please some of the most avid bird watchers, its user interface lacks pizzazz. More specifically, you are dumped directly into an A-Z index from the opening screen vs. any wizards, or search by size, region, type, family etc. Additionally their search method is mundane as you must type the bird name or scroll and search. Birds of California as an example has a voice activated search feature whereby you state a birds name and pr |
[2013-02-07] A Google User: Nice app I'm a beginner bird watcher but this app is been a great help. Lots of info and descriptions. Can't wait for summer to get here to try out the bird calls. |
[2013-02-07] A Google User: Excellent App |
[2013-02-07] A Google User: Can't install Upon installation, I am taken prompted to register, which I have, twice. When I register or select another option, installer crashes. Have tried at least 10 times. Unfortunately, until now, I loved this app so much I have come to rely on it. Guess I'm gonna have go back to the sibley. Really disappointed. |
[2013-02-06] A Google User: Hermitcmo Awesome for beginners and professionals. Check it out. |
[2013-02-06] A Google User: Loving this I love that i can find out what species bird i am looking at and then call them with this app and they call back and come closer to check it out |
[2013-02-06] A Google User: The best Terrific, worth every penny. Search feature still too picky. |
[2013-02-06] A Google User: Great app. Great app. I would love it if you could include pictures or photos of baby and juvenile birds if possible |
[2013-02-05] A Google User: Ibird pro This app rocks! |
[2013-02-04] A Google User: Awesome! Thank you for this app! The identification guide is very comprehensive. A new bird came to my feeder and iBird helped me identify it instantly! A Redpoll isn't common here and I was very excited. I also love listening to the bird songs and seeing the variety of actual photos. Being able to put a bird in 'favorites' works as a great personal Life Book reference. The only thing that I would change is it would be neat to be able to upload my own photos to the notes section. Thank you again! |
[2013-02-03] A Google User: I like it I only wish for a searchable identification key. |
[2013-02-03] A Google User: Fantastic Program Wonderful actually got an owl and a loon to answer the calls. |
[2013-02-02] A Google User: iBird Pro Great app. Loved iBird Canada on my iPod; iBird Pro even better on my tablet. |
[2013-02-02] A Google User: Great resource, easy to use |
[2013-02-02] A Google User: Great nature app! Best bird app available! |
[2013-02-01] A Google User: Garbage Dont get this app. Its full of bugs for android users. And the makrs offer no solutions. |
[2013-01-31] A Google User: Almost perfect Simple and full of information, very easy to use in the field. The two drawbacks were while switching phones all my previous years entries were lost even though saved to SD card. And second I hope eventually there will be an option to see other IBird users previous sightings when specifying a location and/or time, similar to Audubon's app before it went haywire several months ago. |
[2013-01-30] A Google User: IBird Cool app. For what I am using it for it is perfect. |
[2013-01-27] A Google User: Pretty good Searches with locations, ranges, and dates get a little weird and will show birds that don't meet range or habitat criteria. Icefall though it's a pretty good app. |
[2013-01-27] A Google User: Great app! I love this app! Well worth the cost!!! Runs well great selection too. |
[2013-01-26] A Google User: Love it! I use it all the time & never have a problem with it. |
[2013-01-25] A Google User: Awesome I'm taking ornithology this semester and we have audio quizzes on recognizing calls. This app is perfect. They have plenty of photos too. |
[2013-01-25] A Google User: Excellent I don't know what the other bird apps are like but I've been happy w this purchase. Well worth the bananas. Easy to use. Just be patient on the initial download. A lot of data. |
[2013-01-24] A Google User: Amazing Never without my guide now! |
[2013-01-24] A Google User: Outstanding guide This is the best app available for identifying us birds. Have dow loaded many paying as much as $14.99 for one a this is far more informative |
[2013-01-23] A Google User: Great!!!! I've been using it for about 1 month, many times each day. Fantastic. I can search on my state and the month of year. Give a brief description and ibird presents a group of possibilities. The sound feature works great to id birds or calling them closer. This is a great app. It has completely replaced the four birding field books i have. |
[2013-01-22] A Google User: Good producy But the data download tool about six tries to complete |
[2013-01-22] A Google User: Great app Well worth the money. Can search and find all birds easily. Highly recommend end for bird watchers |
[2013-01-21] A Google User: Wonderful although have found birds that are not on list! And need to be able to add my own picts as on ipad |
[2013-01-21] A Google User: Works great... Would like to be able to set songs to ringtone or notifications. Other than that it's a great app |
[2013-01-20] A Google User: Great app... I rarely go put of my way to I rarely go out of my way to rate an app, but this one deserves some recognition. |
[2013-01-20] A Google User: Handy in the field Using this in the field in tandem with a list/program, I find it exceedingly useful for double-checking range maps, some of the more obscure secondary calls. Very well worth the money. |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Database, Build this database into Google goggles to create to worlds first image scan capture triquarter technology! Well...... Until then, yeah, pretty sweet library of info. Just don't forget to keep watching the birdies. :3 |
[2013-01-15] A Google User: Great tool Fast, easy to use and convienient. Much less awkward than carrying a guide book into the field. |
[2013-01-14] A Google User: Great app Some crash flaws and fix back button to go back to previous family, not beginning page. |
[2013-01-14] A Google User: Ibird Downloading all the birds was a bit tedious, but once that is done the program is great. |
[2013-01-13] A Google User: I love this app! Convenient & thorough. What else is there? |
[2013-01-13] A Google User: Simplicity with detail... Just great. Useful, functional, worth the cost of 4 books, cause that's what you get and then some. Wish I would of bought this sooner. Galaxy Nexus user. |
[2013-01-13] A Google User: Great app lots of birds and details! |
[2013-01-13] A Google User: Love it |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: I take back my bad review - with a small exception Ok, so I did get the error others reported about the update just looping forever and not ever finishing. Well, turns out, I was out of phone storage...SO, now I can use this excellent app and access all the birds. I just removed one star because I wish I had gotten an error message saying "you don't have enough room for this database on your phone" so I could have resolved this more quickly and gone on to use the app. |
[2013-01-09] A Google User: Good and getting better. I've been using this app for several years as an augmentation to my field guides. |
[2013-01-09] A Google User: Awesome! Love it! |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: Had High Hopes I purchased this app and the Audubon Birds app for my personal birding hobby. I really had high hopes that iBird would be a great resource, but unfortunately I have had nothing but issues in my attempts to use it. For now, I'm relying on the Audubon app which is quite intuitive and useful. Personally, unless you are just into dealing with ridiculous updates or you need a ginormous bird database, I would go with Audubon instead. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Great little app I find this app useful for IDing who's who on my bird feeder or even entertaining my toddler with the recorded bird calls. Haven't had any issues with crashes or updates. |
[2013-01-04] A Google User: Excellent value Two thumbs up!! Great app for any birder. Awesome graphics, calls, and classification. However, when returning to any list of species it would be very beneficial to return to the same previous spot on the list, instead of resetting to the top. Also, beware of updates; the whole database resets. Motorola Droid RAZR M |
[2013-01-02] A Google User: Excellent app! |
[2013-01-02] A Google User: Nice app You can see a bunch of pictures of birds from which you can select one, or you can type in a search phrase. I typed "owl". and it returned a list of owls with their pictures. Selecting one of the listed owls allowed me to see were information about it including a bigger picture of it, its range, jump to a Wikipedia article about it and to get calls for the selected bird. All of this information stored locally on my cellphone so it doesn't matter if I don't have good reception where I'm using the app. |
[2013-01-02] A Google User: Need more apps like this Awesome app. Had it on my iPod touch and now downloaded for my Android phone. |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: No reporting 2 Audubon or Cornell At least it doesn't fc regularly like the audubon app . Also no option to manually exit. Please make a way for my sightings to contribute to the Cornell and audubon databases, if you understand the importance of citizen science at all . . . |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: Great. Perfect.super super. |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: Ibirds Excellent app!! |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: Very handy I pull this out quite often to verify species of birds I see when I am away from my reference books. Also I have found the ability to play the birds songs very valuable. |
[2012-12-31] A Google User: Great app Love this app! Great out in the field and easy to use! |
[2012-12-30] A Google User: Worth every penny Great bird guide, the bird sounds are great, very useful. |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: No longer works This worked fine until it required an update. Now it says I need wifi to update even though I have 4g. So I can't do anything with it. Seems like others are having this problem too. I am now looking for something else... |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: Worth every penny Awesome app, user friendly, full of useful info, well worth the cost |
