Detexify: A LaTeX symbol recognizer for Android.
Detexify turns your Android-powered mobile phone into an interactive LaTeX cheat sheet. Draw a symbol into the clean interface and presto! You get a list with the most similar symbols and details for each one. Give it a whirl!
Has optional sdcard caching of symbols.
[2013-09-04] A Google User: Excellent Excellent |
[2013-06-23] A Google User: Proper offline mode is missing... It works quite well, and it is definitely faster than looking through lists. However, it would have been nice if it gave us an option of downloading sets of symbols, say "Download Maths", "Download Smileys", etc., for faster offline mode. (This would have been easy to implement as this software as it is stores symbols in cache anyway.) |
[2013-06-19] A Google User: Thanks for apps |
[2013-06-09] A Google User: Really simple Straightforward application. Must have. |
[2013-06-04] A Google User: Does it's job properly But i think it could be even cooler if it would have second mode in which it converts your handwriting to latex, shows you how it read that and tries to solve that for you. |
[2013-04-10] A Google User: Has saved me hours Very useful app - simple and works perfectly. |
[2013-03-21] A Google User: Great Idea! Wow! This is the most ingenious app I've ever seen, you know the symbol in your head but you don't know the name to Google, detexify is the answer. |
[2013-02-21] A Google User: A bit slow, but very handy The pattern recognition is great. I only wish it were faster. |
[2013-01-18] A Google User: Very useful app Saves a lot of time, makes using LaTeX even more more enjoyable. |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: It's nice but... It's great, but annoyingly huge menu on my tablet, makes me want to uninstall it. Other than that it is real life saver. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Good Sometimes one has to be patient - as with all handwriting recognition software - but the concept is brilliant! It also doubles as a pretty entertaining toy in the early hours of the morning :-) |
[2013-01-02] A Google User: Why does this app need to know my phone number? I'll stick with the website version, I think, with which I am very impressed. |
[2012-12-31] A Google User: Awesome This app is awesome!!! |
[2012-12-13] A Google User: requires way too many access rights . |
[2012-12-10] A Google User: Works pretty well! |
[2012-12-08] A Google User: Great! Slow but it works great! |
[2012-12-06] A Google User: Useful but abandonned In desperate need of higher resolution graphics and support for larger screens, but still fully functional despite not having been updated for 3 years. |
[2012-11-01] A Google User: Wish this was around while I was doing my math degree! It is seriously impressive, the only bad thing is I discovered this long after I graduated so I don't have a "real use" for it still! But I wish I did... |
[2012-10-26] A Google User: It works! One of the coolest aps! |
[2012-10-25] A Google User: Fantastic app |
[2012-10-16] A Google User: Great app. (Galaxy S2) Neat! This is going to be great for all those pesky math symbols that I don't know the names of. Like the convolution operator. |
[2012-09-23] A Google User: Won't work without Internet access The description fails to mention that the recognition is done remotely by some server on the Internet, and that this is a dummy app which is useless without it. May be quite handy, but it umbilically relies on the server, so if your connection fails or the server disappears off the Internet, this app will stop working. |
