Needs modernized. Great app, but is not optimized for 720p, 1080p, or retina displays. With the quickly growing trend of high resolution phones and tablets, it's tough to use when it's written for such low resolutions. Would be awesome if the app had information for pages in the actual book/guide. Sometimes viewing pictures is glitchy. Seems to be little bugs here and there.

How disappointing that the Audubon Society would allow the release of such a poorly made app. Any search but the "Advanced search" are useless since you either have to know the name or it is a single level search by leaf shape; putting a leaf shape gives you a list of 200+ possible matches with tiny pictures and no way to narrow down. Viewing pictures constantly Force-Closes the app even if I'm just browsing through. "Trees" from Green Mountain Digital is the most disappointing field guide I've ever seen.

Not that great When I heard the name of the app, I thought this would be a winner. The app is slow and is cumbersome to use. I synced the download as it asked for and it is now asking for me to do it again. There should be a step by step identification method to find out what kind of tree you are looking for. Unfortunately Useless - can I get a refund When attempting to identify trees there is a helpful leaf shape menu. But, when you choose a broad category of shapes -- for example: Toothed Simple Leaves -- you are shown a long list of far-away views of the trees, you can't narrow down the shape. This app needs a second set of leaf shapes -- Tulip Poplar and Maple are in the same category, and all the app needs is a second set of searches. Also the searching can't cross correlate with the tree shapes. All the data is there, the UI fails to make it available in a useful way. It's been just 6 hours since I downloaded it. And I can't find a way to get my money back.

Limited Of the various Android tree identification programs for North American trees, this one has a far more extensive listing of trees. There is good text from the print version. There is no identification system, and no diagrams of leaf shapes. For some of the species, the number of pictures is quite limited. Unlike the other offerings this offers range maps, although many are missing. Used to crash a lot but it seems to be fixed now. To use offline you must download a large amount of data. No pinch zoom.

It just shows a.Message stating "application not licensed - this application is not licensed. Please purchase it from android markets." Clearly I did purchase it from Google play. I will be happy to change this rating if Green Mountain will either fix the problem or refund my money. Would prefer to have problem fixed.

FCs quickly & therefore almost unusable I have this installed on two devices (Samsung Galaxy S2 & Acer A100 tablet) that are both running ICS and this app force closes almost immediatley on both devices. I have the Audubon Birds app and that doesn't have the FC problem so there is hope that the developer will get this app functioning properly in a very short time. Don't complain if you have trouble downloading the offline content, that is over 400 MB, on your mobile providers 3G network. Do it over WiFi connected to DSL or cable.

Works fine on Xoom tablet & Droid Bionic Had initial install problems on Xoom & Droid Bionic. But the product support was super and quick. I simply requested help as prescribed in the purchase receipt via email and biff bam Shazam they responed and fixed the problems. It is now optimized for the Xoom tablet and Honeycomb. As of now it addresses 715 species.

problematic checkboxes Lots of good info in this app. But it misuses checkboxes in its Advanced Search by applying AND logic when OR is standard for checkboxes. This makes Advanced Search very difficult to use. For example, if I'm certain that I'm looking at a conifer but I don't know whether a leaf is a "scale-leaf conifer" or a "needle-leaf conifer" I should be able to select both checkboxes and get all leaves in both categories. Nope. Audubon Trees doesn't work like that. You only get trees that in fact are in BOTH categories.
