[2012-07-18] Kathy: Love this concept Unlike some who have commented, I like these programs. Work fine on my android phone. Finally a way to look up by sorting by shape, color, etc and get info about, map locations and even hearing bird soungs! Books do not allow all the features represented here. |
[2012-07-12] Edward: Never again I was not impressed by this app enough to buy it again every time I update my hardware. |
[2012-07-12] Work: Fun app I would have given this app a 5 star rating, but there is no way to place sightings into categories. |
[2012-07-10] Kit: Same problem as below What does "not licenced" mean? |
[2012-07-09] Raffaele: Raff Best bird app it is like carrying around a big ref reffence book in your hand. |
[2012-07-09] Larry: Audubon Birds Have a problem. Cannot close it. Otherwise expenseve, but good. |
[2012-07-04] Jane: help won't open get message saying it is not licensed and need to buy through google play/apps. which I did. would like to have it work or get my money back. |
[2012-07-02] Marc: Very useful Working great now, super useful in the field for narrowing species by song. Beats digging a book out of my pack. |
[2012-07-02] Lilith: Won't open Claims I need to purchase from Android market, which I had done. Pointless. |
[2012-07-01] LynneThoiry: Cannot open application I took advantage of special. July 4 offer and bought several Audubon apps (Birds, Trees, Insects, mammals, Butterflies) but none of them will open on my galaxy tab. It just shows a message stating "application not licensed - this application is not licensed. Please purchase it from android markets." Clearly I did purchase it from Google play. I will be happy to change this rating if Green Mountain will either fix the problem or refund my money. Would prefer to have problem fixed. |
[2012-07-01] Ian: Could be amazing... But it often crashes. |
[2012-06-25] hunky: No longer usable slow internet and cell service conspire to not let me download much more than 100MB. Times out, then starts over. No service in field so can not use the app any more. would rate highly if they broke up huge data base into smaller downloads. good otherwise. |
[2012-06-24] curt: Better than the book. Great app! Love it! |
[2012-06-23] Mr. Chainsaw: Great Great app. Has proven to be indispensable in the field. |
[2012-06-20] Erik: Slow and difficult app Decent but still not on par with the Apple ipod/iphone version. Pretty unstable. Crashes a lot and incredibly slow on start up. Not trustworthy in the field. App on Droid X. |
[2012-06-20] J: Very nice Having multiple pictures and sounds is great. Perhaps one day we can record a bird call and have it matched. |
[2012-06-17] Cindy: Amazing Works very well, impressive program. I love that I can find where birds were spotted locally |
[2012-06-16] Karen: GREAT APP This is the BEST birding app Ive used Thanks for a great app very user friendly HTC EVO 4G LTE |
[2012-06-16] Jimbob: Slow. It is slow to update screen, I downloaded the whole 600 MB. |
[2012-06-15] Ben: Memory Hog Takes a huge chunk of my internal memory. No option to move the data to the SD card. No option on how much data to download.... |
[2012-06-14] Mal: License error Getting a license error after a recent update...also am not able to locate the app by searching for it by name in the play store. had been an excellent app prior to this problem! Also, I haven't had any crashing issues, maybe you're just running too much at once. Probably. |
[2012-06-14] Bobby: Bad update. Getting license error. Won't start up at all...can't get the force issue close because it doesn't run at all...LOL |
[2012-06-14] shyloh: Great update! This latest version is a vast improvement over any previous releases. The new features are awesome. I've changed my review to this: if you enjoy birds and wish to know more, get this app. |
[2012-06-14] Kristin: Fixed now "error license" has been fixed, works now. Love this app, comes in handy and (most of the time) works very well. |
[2012-06-14] bikercr: High quality guide! Doesn't disappoint. Most unique feature is bird calls and songs you can bring right to the field where you need them.No booklet can do this. |
[2012-06-14] Karen: Good but... Great help in identifying birds. Pictures and songs are very good. The migration map is also a great aid. Application is a little slow. |
[2012-06-14] Jo: fantastic very helpful and easy to use. |
[2012-06-14] Larry: Larry oct. 9 2011 Trial version expired I think not. Please fix |
[2012-06-14] Sheryl: Great app This has been a wonderful app. The pictures and sound are great. |
[2012-06-14] William: Error License error license means non-functioning app updated error license issue, corrected after one day |
[2012-06-14] Jeff: Update works Latest update works well. |
[2012-06-14] Gary: License error fixed now Still very slow loading, but great info. |
[2012-06-14] Boris: Slow Startup OK overall. Takes a long time to start. Lack of pinch zoom. Huge (20MB) in internal memory. |
[2012-06-14] Bill: Working after new update The new update fixed my issues. I like having the database fully downloaded because some birding spots have no cell service. |
[2012-06-14] tipndick: A good program The updates have improved it a bunch. |
[2012-06-13] Larry: Same as Bill DroidX. Upgraded today to new version and get Error License msg. I tried erasing app data and uninstall/reinstall but same thing. Still works on my other Android device with prior version - a tablet. Not going to upgrade that until this is fixed. |
[2012-06-13] GV 405: Error License Same problem as Bill. All I get now is 'Error license'. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. |
[2012-06-13] mhampton: Back to one star! Also getting the license error after this update. |
[2012-06-13] K: License Error to be fixed in VERY near future! Hi all, My name is Kim, I work with the developers of this app. We are aware of the "License Error" and we are currently investigating. We will correct this very soon, and we do apologize for any inconvenience. I will re-post when the app is up and running again. Thanks for your patience and support of our apps! |
[2012-06-13] Nature: Vermont is not the Mecca of Android Developers. They finally fixed force close upon open, but still unstable & force closes while using app. You need fast processor, mega storage, fast WiFi connect. Beware: no file download resume. |
[2012-06-12] Jim: Uninstalled! Getting refund. Force closes EVERY time I make a selection! |
[2012-06-09] Pam: Missing a common bird Beautiful pictures and calls are great, though since an update it seems some birds are harder to find. They also need to include common raven in their library. |
[2012-06-09] Louis Freeland-Haynes: Great content, slightly unstable. Unfortunately on my HTC Desire S the app is a little slow and buggy. Slow load up and irregular force closes when trying to use the app and if trying to download the data it often freezes. However the content of the app is brilliant and about makes up for the instability when you can use it. |
[2012-06-08] Howard: Great app but force closes This app is one of my all time favorite. However they need to work the bugs out. If I go away from the app and then come back it almost every time force closes. Once it opens it seems to work fine and I love it. Well worth the $2.99. |
[2012-06-08] Kt: I love this app! I think it's the best $10 I ever spent. I love ask the pics, the range, the calls, that I can make life lists and u love the ebird feature especially. |
[2012-06-03] Patricia: Disappointed |
[2012-06-01] Chevy: Great! But..... When it works is awesome! BUT it force closes at startup a lot!! Fix to get the other four stars. |
[2012-06-01] Joe: Audubon birds Purchased app but it keep reading force close so I deleted some apps. I tried reinstalling it now it tells me insufficient sd card. I don't know what else to do. Can you help? |
[2012-05-31] Gloria: Audubon birds Be nice if I could sign on. |
[2012-05-29] Christopher: Ebird access doesnt work App wont let me log into my account on Motorola photon. Please fix, cant access ebird. |
[2012-05-23] carl: Rip-off Takes forever to load! Could not exit app, only go back to home page. Even after I uninstalled app, no refund option came up. It took 15 minutes to download and try it out, by that time, you've run out time to get the refund. Don't waste your money on any app by this company. |
[2012-05-22] Therese: I can not register my account I can not register my account,.. did anyone find a solution for this problem?? |
[2012-05-21] Judy: App and phone crash Great. I JUMP IN and load it all to SD and New ...like a week old new Samsung galaxy s2 goes kapoot. Now the App says it's installed but has no license. I AM NOT the one who stole anything here...I just want the glitchy App I paid for on phone that was replaced too. |
[2012-05-19] CliffW: Unstable disappointing execution On XOOM, it looks pretty promising but is seriously flawed. Had to force stop as even the reporting became an unending loop. I would really like this if it wasn't so very broken! |
[2012-05-18] Jim: Fantastic!! Great app |
[2012-05-18] Roland: Awesome! As one who loves birds yet didn't have time till recently to devote...this is awesome! I grew up with the paper bird book and this really blows that away. I love having all the recordings at my finger tips. That has helped me alot in identifying some birds that I could hear more than I could see and I found out some sounds I had associated with the wrong birds. Thanks again! Lets see a frog app now! |
[2012-05-18] CYNDIE: Force closes Is there a fix 4 this?? |
[2012-05-18] butwheat73: 2 mni FC Force closes every time - Droid Bionic. it doesn't seem like they're going to fix it even after sending all my information many many times I did with them trick me into the old uninstall reinstall bs doesn't change anything at all except for losing my life list! stay away and spread the word please! |
[2012-05-14] craig: Sign in Cannot sign on. I need technical support. Is this the only way to get support. |
[2012-05-14] Travis: Wi-Fi Only Cannot access Ebirds unless I have a Wi-Fi connection. Awesome App otherwise. When downloading the full contents, and get a Force Close, select Wait and the download will continue. |
[2012-05-12] Karl R: Comprehensive Great breadth of content, needs high res graphics for high density screens, shouldn't hide status bar |
[2012-05-11] Patrick: Bad app Don't waste your time and money on this app force closes every time I try to open. When I am able to get in usually on the second try the app runs slow. |
[2012-05-10] DrPocock: Don't. Buy Doesn't work on the Droid will not sync and crashes when it does work it is incredibly slow |
[2012-05-08] R.: RB Only works on wifi for motorola photon phone. So I downloaded the entire guide to my phone. About 500 mb. Works great! I played a cardinal call outside and had 2 of them fly down almost immediately. Now I can talk to birds, wow! |
[2012-05-06] Danielle: Nice search... Won't save anything I can easily search for birds in my area but it won't let me register for an account. Anyone error message keeps popping up. It's so frustrating because I want to record all the birds I've seen and I can't because I am not registered! I will give 5 stars when the problem is fixed. |
[2012-05-06] Brian: Diddy Useless on DroidX. Trouble creating account had to make 2 accounts. Constant force closes. Even force closes when sending force close report. Uninstalled reinstalled still force closes. Moved to phone memory still forced closed. Spent more than half hour to get to work. Guess I lost my money. |
[2012-05-06] Jeff: Love it - Great guide, lots of information and recorded birdsong. |
[2012-05-05] Will: Excellent Useful App on Acer A500 - ICS Performs very well on my Acer Iconia with ICS -- installed fairly quickly, and seems fairly stable on my platform. Feature set is fantastic: looking up birds is fast and easy; many above-average quality pictures; good collection of birdsongs; eBird is fun to poke around with; and lots of good info and range maps in this package. Really excellent, useful application! |
[2012-05-04] Estephy: Great Song Variety and Fotos! I am a field technician doing bird surveys and I find this app incredibly helpful when I'm in the field and get stumped with a call but have no one to ask. The pictures and range maps are really great, too. However, I did have a hard time downloading it. After I paid for the app, I was unable to install it for a week. Once it gave me the option of installing everything worked fine. Definitely worth your money! Download all the content so it works when you're out of internet service! |
[2012-05-01] Drake Bliss: Great Bird Reference AAA++++ |
[2012-04-29] Chris: No ICS support Can't even evaluate the app, as it won't even start on Galaxy Nexus with ICS. |
[2012-04-29] Nathan: Great Working fine on my GS 2. High quality pictures, and the recordings are really clear.Well done imo. |
[2012-04-28] Rick: Great search capabilities A little unstable, but not much. Love the ability to search by place, size, habitat, and so on. |
[2012-04-27] Jon: Happy birthday Audubon The new version is AWESOME! |
[2012-04-27] cory: Says I am unregistered. Won't run. Tells me to download from Google Play store, which was exactly how I got it. |
[2012-04-27] Jay: Doesn't work on GNex This looks really good, but it simply didn't work on my Galaxy Nexus. |
[2012-04-27] Leslie: Audubon |
[2012-04-26] scottpaintman: App is crap Constant crashing, constant inability to even find data that has been downloaded. This is a joke, I really expected better from Audubon. Wish I could get my money back. |
[2012-04-26] A: Great so Far Really like this app & so far it has been rock solid & stable on my HTC DHD. It installed itself to the SD card too. Some very nice features. Sound quality of bird calls seems to be better quality & louder than iBird Pro which I also own. But I haven't tried them all. Nice to have options to use either app. Updating the database was easy on my slower internet connection, as was registration. |
[2012-04-23] bholder: Not Enough Storage error After upgrading Captivate to gingerbread, app will not update. I uninstalled. Reinstall attempted to"not enough storage". 5 stars if I can get it working again. |
[2012-04-22] Marvin Freeman: Great content, lousy programming Clumsy interface. Many force closes. Doesn't behave like an android app. Wish I had investigated alternatives more. Ended up with iBird and like it much better. |
[2012-04-16] zippy: love it |
[2012-04-04] Jimmy: Just tooo darn slow Even with my 4G and a good wi-fi connection, this app is painfully slow. Great potential, but a bird will be in its second migration before you get the downloaded pix and info to identify it. The only consolation is that some of the $$ paid for this app goes to an ohterwise worthwhile cause. |
[2012-03-25] Stephanie: Don't waste your $4.99! Useless! Green mtn won't or cant fix the force close issues. Reported problem to green mtn and was told to reload app. Then the customer tech emailed me consistently to ask if the problem was fixed...which the answer was always no! Green mtn, spend that followup effort on fixing the app. PLUS - they lost my life lists that I had painstakingly entered into the app....twice. Thanks green mtn. |
[2012-03-16] Anonymous: Ebird nice, but wicked unstable now This app is kind of useless without an internet connection. It is a little unstable. It crashes a lot. The account feature doesn't work. As another birder mentioned, the I bird pro is a much better app. |
[2012-03-16] Luke: Getting Better This app is getting better with every update, but every time it updates, I lose my "my content". I hope this gets fixed. And ppl complaining about the app being big, you have a field guide on your phone. It will be big. |
[2012-03-15] Michael: Wow! The ebird integration takes this app a huge step above the rest. Thank you! |
[2012-03-15] Karen: Excellent update! Great additions to the app! I'll be using this a lot more now. |
[2012-03-15] the 3/15/2012 Great, and getting better! This is a great field guide, and the logging features are excellent. However, the app force closes often. This, along with the lack of features available on ios, keeps this at a 3 star app for now... Update: FINALLY! an app that shows bird sightings from ebird! Thank you so much! Five stars for that feature alone! |
[2012-03-14] rdmorton2: Great app |
[2012-03-14] Jack: Good app could be.better The pictures and descriptions are great. Many species also have a recorded track of the bird's call. It really islike having a digtal version of their field guide. Like the bird count feature & that can take your own pictures and upload to your recorded bird diary. All that feature-rich content doesn't matter if the app is unstable, and that's my biggest gripe. The app crashes way too much. |
[2012-03-10] Obfuscator: Very buggy. Forced close every time I can barely use this app. After 3-4 clicks I get a forced close. |
[2012-02-27] Chris: Great but Fix the force close issues! |
[2012-02-13] everynrg: Hopeful I really like what I've seen... unfortunately, on Droid razr, first app to force close EVERY time and after registering account - haven't been able to sign in; only some '...gateway time out...' message every time. |
[2012-02-01] Jay: Crashes on droid bionic I am a big fan of audubon, but this app crashes. Great idea - please fix. |
[2012-01-25] Bob: Nice app BUT I really like this app, BUT when are the developers going to learn to add a simple store data on EXTERNAL sd card. I know the location changes from one android version to another. Just add the ability to tell the program where the SD card is. Need to be able to DL all the data to have on hand for use in the field. WOuld give it 5 stars if I could put it all into EXTERNAL SD card. |
[2012-01-25] Jesse: Superb My favorite bird guide. |
[2012-01-22] Salem: Outstanding... Thank You :-))) |
[2012-01-03] Diana: Great if it works The app looks awesome just dont "dig" into the desxription further than what shows on first screen. Repeated force closes. Unacceptable for the price of this app. |
[2011-02-15] Kenneth: Not happy about having to uninstall and resync again after latest update. Still FCs on HTC Incred. |
