Todo.txt Touch (v. 1.0.1) Разработано Gina Trapani |
Future-proof your todo list and store it in a plain text file YOU control. The discerning nerd's task manager of choice, Todo.txt Touch makes it easy to add, update and prioritize tasks, tag them with project names and contexts, search, filter, and most importantly, mark items in your todo.txt file done.
Countless apps and sites store your todo list in their own proprietary database and file format. But you can open a todo.txt file with every text editor under the sun. Todo.txt Touch helps you work with your todo.txt on the go and automatically syncs the file back to all your computers and devices via Dropbox.
Nerd alert: Todo.txt Touch is a companion app to Todo.txt CLI, a command line interface to your personal todo.txt file. Find out more at http://todotxt.com.
To use this app, you must have a Dropbox account (http://dropbox.com).

[2012-10-23] Ninjawil: Not there yet I love using todo.txt and use it for work all the time. I has transformed the way I work on a desktop but unfortunately this app is still lagging behind. To improve the app, due dates need adding and date filtering. The widget needs options for customization and maybe a sync to google tasks. |
[2012-10-12] Will: Only Todo app worth installing No frills, highly effective and convenient. Gina, please add google drive sync! |
[2012-10-05] the 10/5/2012 Author doesn't respond to bug reports. (1.) The BASIC functionality is great: text file to do list, integration with drop box... basically the same features that the desktop app supports more or less. (2.) All the more advanced features that are necessary for someone to consider using this app exclusively on his android device of choice are severely half baked: when I add things via desktop or another android device this app doesn't update, widget requires manual refresh, widget is ONLY 4x1 & I submitted bug reports and was ignored completely! |
[2012-09-26] Will: Just perfect This plus the cli on the desktop beats other options hands down |
[2012-09-24] SFP: Very good & simple Like the fact that one can share tasks to other apps. Would like to see the todo.sh add on, bundeled & installed as this instalation is too technical for me, as would like to see th due date feature. Although it goes against the simplisity of the programm it would be good if it would keep the projects and contexts and not forget them once there are no tasks assigned with them. Very!!!! good otherwise!!! ' |
[2012-09-20] Elam: Be careful Bought this app last night and cant get past the "Log in to Dropbox" screen. So its of no value to me at all. I tried to email the developer but the email bounces back as undeliverable. No stars at all for this app but had to give it one to post this review. |
[2012-09-18] Sonny: Need to password/passcode protect I have been using todo.txt for the last two months and I love it. It is exactly what I need, simple and easy to use. The only thing I would love to see added is a password/passcode protection. |
[2012-09-16] Eater: Pretty shoddily put together The idea is good, but the execution (as of version 1.0.1 at least) is full of glitches -- the widget is hideous and never seems to refresh; every time I start the app it wants me to log in to Dropbox again; sometimes when I tap an item to complete or delete it, it opens the item above it in the list instead -- lots of stuff like that. This messy app is not very congruous with the underlying elegance of the "just works!" text-based simplicity that underlies it. |
[2012-09-07] Brad: Constant updates Love the app, but like other reviews mention, it's forcing an update every time I open it. Please fix. |
[2012-09-06] Jonski: Complete rubbish. I can't get past the dropbox log in stage. I logged into dropbox, but this app doesn't Any decent app would have made this optional. |
[2012-09-05] Trevor: Awesome Does everything it says and does it well. |
[2012-09-04] Jeff: Great, but problem with file conflicts. This is an excellent application, but like Clyde Steven said I too have been having continual file conflicts since latest update. Hope this gets fixed soon. |
[2012-09-01] &lit: Ильдар Потрясающий список дел. Ничего лишнего. |
[2012-08-30] Rocky: Todo list I gave a poor review initially. However, it has bee working well so I wanted to update and give positive praise for this app. I would suggest though that more than 3 tasks displaying on widget would make it better. |
[2012-08-30] Natasha: Everything but widget transparency This app does exactly what it says and is an excellent complement for the CLI tool. My only gripe is cosmetic. I would be one star happier with a transparent widget. I don't care about fifteen different style options. I just want the ability to both make the widget element transparent and adjust the font to suit. |
[2012-08-29] jcwinnie: Simple |
[2012-08-29] mschooler93: Best to do app ever Its so simple, yet also very versatile and flexible. You can even add your own tags, or operators, and mod the desktop scripts to utilize it (not able to do that on phone, but oh well) I have been using it all day, and I love it! |
[2012-08-25] Clyde Steven: Good, but... This app deserves five stars, but ever since a recent update purporting to prevent file conflicts, I have suddenly found myself having to resolve (previously rare) file conflicts on a near-daily basis. |
[2012-08-24] Warpoet: Good application Does what it says. Would love to see more widget styles. |
[2012-08-23] josh: Excellent Works correctly, syncs between android and ios (via DropBox) flawlessly. Tip Top app. |
[2012-08-19] Miks: Widget requires more work Not bad, but please make the widget reliable |
[2012-08-18] nemof: Great app Extremely useful and well executed. Needs a semi transparent or adjustable transparency widget. |
[2012-08-16] Cleasai: Love todo.txt Last holiday season I discovered a new use for todo.txt Shopping lists! It works great for gifts, groceries, etc. Just type @Gina +Presents at the end of each item. |
[2012-08-15] Dave: Excellent App Easy to use app, and syncing works flawlessly. Thanks! |
[2012-08-13] Koshatul: Awesome cross platform task manager Use it every day on my Linux, OSX, iOS and android devices. Simple and just works, last version offline -> online would stomp on changes, haven't tried the fixes in the new version yet. |
[2012-08-13] Doc: My GoTo Got To Do Today App Todo.txt is a great tool for the way I want to work. I do my scheduling using my calendar and long-term planning using Toodledo via Pocket Informant to capture everything that I need to do or review. Todo.txt is my short term "tackle" list for a given day or project. For me it is a working scratch pad I can quickly toss things into and modify on the fly as I work and things change without cluttering up my big lists. At the end of the day I can see what I got done, transfer those accomplishments to my big lists, and then, no matter how well or poorly I did that day, clear it out and start fresh the next day. This app is the bridge that makes my work workable. For me, it is a must have tool. |
[2012-08-13] Glen: Great and Simple Really good app. Simple, effective and adaptable. |
[2012-08-13] Tim: Simple, elegant Does what it needs to do. Syncs the list using dropbox between my phone and pc. Simple and elegant. |
[2012-08-13] Michael: Simple, portable |
[2012-08-13] Satish Medos: Simple & fits the purpose Such a simple app and solves my purpose. Latest update with swipe to complete and Archive option make it even better. But how about ICS / Jelly bean user interface ? |
[2012-08-12] A.: Elegant Simple App It works great. Does exactly what it needs to do without any hitch or distractions. My one request is that when resizing the widget to make it larger, the to do list expand beyond the default 3 tasks to fill the entire widget. |
[2012-08-09] Don: Nice and simple! An app that simply does what it says it's going to do and nothing more... If you need a basic way to sort everyday tasks this app will do it. |
[2012-08-09] Clint: HTC desire S Hi dev. Great app, however a few things that might make it better: Swipe an entry to complete it (common Android action to discard things). Also [follow us] link didn't get to a valid page... |
[2012-08-02] John: love it I use it. I love it. Google Drive support as a storage engine would be really spiffy too. (WFM on NS4G and Nexus7) |
[2012-07-23] Dennis: Good todo list The easiest to-do list I ever used. I can see it every where. Still I'm missing something: 1) Scroll in the widget for more than three tasks. 2) Bigger widget 3) Filter tasks and show this in a widget. I use a lot off widgets and hopefully this comes in the next update. PS a dutch translation comes handy. I will write that if you got an example file (prefer english) |
[2012-07-14] Shai: The Power of Simplicity I like efficient simplicity. There are many good ToDo list applications out there, but their form-like data entry style with their numerous input fields, pre-set categories and views/menus sometimes feel like adding a note/task or reviewing your agenda is becoming a task on its own. For years my preferred to-do list medium was a trusted notebook combined with a simple text file. This app offers that same simplicity and efficiency with the added value of filtering the entries by priority, context or type of project and manipulating the existing list of entries, which is easier and quicker than doing the same on paper or in a plain text file. This App is aimed at those looking for and valuing that kind of simplicity and efficiency. |
[2012-07-14] Roland Jay: Great task list app. Love the simplicity and the syncing. One request, though: add a filter to hide completed tasks. |
[2012-06-07] Smoking emotion: Great Stuff Tried lots of todo apps. By far the simplest and nicest to use. Update my text file at work and syncs perfectly through dropbox. |
[2012-06-03] John: New User - Great App I just downloaded this to my droid and my Asus tablet just a few minutes ago. The fact that it is a straight text file and that it syncs with Dropbox is brilliant. I have just started playing with it and the "cool" factor is off the charts. Now... this app is not for "everybody" but I think it is worth every penny I paid for it. I downloaded it to my tablet.. started reading the help files and got going pretty quickly. I thought it was so good that I downloaded it to my droid too. (Paying for an app in the Droid world is the sincerest form of flattery) This app and the associated CLI interface will actually "teach" me something! |
[2012-05-30] marclurr: Didn't realise... ...I needed a Dropbox account to use the app at all. I'm not interested in syncing my tasks between systems so would be nice to have the option to not bother with those advanced features. I really like the CLI tool and was hoping this would be just as simple. I guess it shouldn't be too difficult to fix this? ;) |
[2012-05-24] Dolf: Keeps going offline mode I have some problem when it goes to offline mode & i don't realize it. Have to go to settings to adjust. End up with 2 versions of the file. Would be better if the offline mode checkmark were right on top, next to refresh, so it isn't buried in settings. Then u know right away that you are synching properly if it's checked. |
[2012-05-21] D: Great to do app! I had this app installed on ios, and with my recent switch to Android, and I couldn't do it without this app. If I ever switch back, I'd buy it again, to support geekdom. Great app Gina! |
[2012-05-16] Nick: So simple I really like this system. Any chance of adding due dates and recurring items? |
[2012-05-15] Ollie: Far too basic A fairly tidy todo manager, but only useful to someone with a handful of tasks to manage. I have about 15 projects running at a time, and about 30-100 tasks in each, and for me it's completely unmanageable. There are much better tools out there, that can handle per-project todos. I tried to get a refund within the 15minute window, but Google Play just shows the Install option, annoying. |
[2012-05-15] Domonic: Freekin Awesome No if everyone would just use the todo.txt format we could use whatever task manager we want and still be in sync. |
[2012-05-10] Dries: Almost perfect : Tablets Great app, one of the best i've used so far. My only remark thus far is that the tablet support is lacking. Please update the widget so it supports bigger screens. |
[2012-05-01] Ben: Flexible and functional Having tried many fuller-featured to do apps on Android, I'm happy to settle on this one, despite the fact that it requires much more manual maintenance than most. By using Dropbox it syncs between devices flawlessly, and because it is just a text file it is flexible to the max. A better widget would be nice, and because it will likely never have many bells and whistles it's hard to give it a raving review, but this is a good, reliable app. |
[2012-04-29] Billy: Needs scrollable widget for home screen please. Okay after jumping around I'm back. Four stars for now, adding the ability to set alarms on my mobile device for a specific task while I am away from my desk would be awesome. Adding a scrollable widget for my android home screen would make it a six out of five stars : p |
[2012-04-15] Sudhir: Best Todo Manager Checkbox would be great. Font options required. |
[2012-04-10] jamesakadamingo: Great app Such a simple system and a nice easy app. Would just like a hide completed feature. I still want them in my txt file just not on screen all the time. great work gina. |
[2012-04-09] David: Love it.. But re-adds archived tasks when using the system across android, Linux, iOS apps. Drove me bonkers in the end when I kept having to "complete" tasks I knew I'd marked completed previously so the system became untrusted (for my cross platform use case) and I had to move to something else. Will try again down the track. |
[2012-04-09] Kike: Simple elegant A simple yet elegant solution for Todo list, also the ability to sync with Dropbox keeps my todo list on every device. Work great on my Samsung Galaxy S ][. If you are a todo list person this is the most try app. |
[2012-04-07] Michael: My first paid Android App Great! Does everything I need it to do. |
[2012-03-30] Die Nacht: Very nice It needs a plug in for Tasker. |
[2012-03-29] Gavin: Good but... ...needs a bit of visual spit and polish. |
[2012-03-25] medepi: Excellent app for org-mode users I am using todo.txt, emacs, and org-mode together. I can work on my GTD file (todo.txt) and edit on Linux computer, or Android phone or tablet. There is little conflict between todo.txt and org-mode syntax. In the future I may move to mobileorg, but for now this works great! Thanks! |
[2012-03-21] jobias: Great adaption of todo.txt to Android Love using todo.txt on all my machines synced over dropbox and this is ideal for my current workflow. My only wish is that it adopted the ICS look and feel. The title bar and logo, while pretty, take up too much space. Surely something more useful can be placed there. |
[2012-03-16] Jonathan: Great functionality Would love if it was more ICS in look and feel though. But still, very useful! Also, big fan of TWiG. Not for leo, but for you and Jeff. |
[2012-03-04] Art: request please add "delete all completed" function |
[2012-02-28] fortinj1354: Overall good It's a great app, but it does occasionally have a few issues. still worth the price, but the bugs are a bit annoying. |
[2012-02-27] Leea: Paying for OS app would be okay if it worked Very disappointed that this app only works with Dropbox - have constantly disappearing data when sync doesn't work right, which is too frequently, unfortunately. I will stick with local tasks and sync with Google Tasks again for free... Too bad b/c the concept is perfect, but the implementation is not. |
[2012-02-26] Danny: Simple and Effective Even if I wasn't a Gina Trapani fanboy, I'd still find this app worth the money for its simple, but flexable usefulness. From tasks to grocery lists, it does a great job of keeping track of things for me. If it would add funtionality for repeating tasks, it'd be 5 stars. |
[2012-02-26] Jimmy: Great Idea butFrustrated with Sync I don't want to give this a bad review because I don't know how well it will work until I get the sync with Task Coach (portable) working. It appears to be an answer to the task list problem with Android (one thing Blackberry does very well). I only paid a couple of dollars, but this thing has frustrated me to no end. Problems might be with Task Coach or on the Android side, but neither app gives any reasons for why is doesn't sync. ToDo.txt Touch simply throws "Synchronization Failed" message with no other information why. If somebody could help me it would be great. |
[2012-02-24] MY204: Great App (Missing One Key Feature) Love the App! Tried Any.Do, Astrid and Epistle and prefer Todo.txt over them all! Very simple and having the database stored in a plain text file is a godsend. Only feature I would love to see is the ability to clear all completed tasks from the app. Perfect app though for people who need a simple todo list so they can actually focus on getting things done. |
[2012-02-24] chopper: So simple, yet so powerful Love the sync via Dropbox with the Command Line PC app. Great job Gina! |
[2012-02-24] Scott: Works better than advertised This is exactly what I need. And it works better than I expected. What else can I say? |
[2012-02-23] Pål Marius: Supports Dropbox only It would be really cool if this app could support a "local text file" mode in addition to Dropbox, keeping with the spirit of owning your data and general hackery. I'm not using it, but I don't feel bad that I bought it, if only to support todo txt on the desktop (and it's super-clear that it uses Dropbox if I had bothered to read the description). Given 4 stars just to not ruin its rating. |
[2012-02-22] Tim: Works great on my galaxy nexus Installed it, authorized dropbox, and it loaded my tasks in under a second. Better project feature support would be great |
[2012-02-22] Rob: Galaxy Tab 10.1 FC :( Bought this app ages ago, was using something more sophisticated, but wanted to also use this as a part of the "another list" suggestion in the lifehacker book... Nogo on my tab. Let's get it together people:D |
[2012-02-20] Ambika: Crashes everytime I bought it today.. And installed on Samsung Galaxy tab 7500, but it crashes every time i add a task. Not able to add any task. So no use.... |
[2012-02-18] Andrew: Excellent app ....ability to swipe left/right to change displayed projects would make this perfect for me. |
[2012-02-17] Colin: Elegant and permanent It was an annoying concern of mine trying to keep things in sync through a number of different devices. I despise having to go into a website in order to update my todo list and this really solves the problem. I was attempting to do the same thing through Dropbox and simple notepad, but the interface on top of simple metadata (such as an x on a line to mark it as complete) improves productivity to such a degree that it's easily worth the 2 dollars. I would highly recommend people try this. It's unfortunate there's no trial but 15 minute refund is more than enough time to see all the features. |
[2012-02-15] Andreas: nice approach but lacks reconciliation of concurrent items when the task list has been modified simultaneously on device and in dropbox |
[2012-02-10] Derrekito: Broken Widget I'm using Android 2.3.7 on a LG g2x. No widget appears in the list. |
[2012-02-09] Nils: Widget needs work Very cool app but new widget becomes unresponsive randomly and does not display anything from your todo list in landscape mode. Droid r2d2 running cyanogenmod. |
[2012-02-09] Jerrad: Not dropbox beta compatible Not yet dropbox beta compatible. So I'm out of luck so far because I got dropbox beta before getting this app. But looks good. I'd love to see an update to fix, ether if it's on their side or dropbox but looking forward to using the app. |
[2012-02-08] beetlefeet: Google docs? Would love to sync to the todo.txt I have in my google docs instead of dropbox. (I'm using insync) |
[2012-02-08] Tony: Crashes since update No longer runs on my a500. Just as well it is a text file.:-) |
[2012-02-07] Siobhter: Perfect Exactly what I needed, especially with the new widget. |
[2012-02-07] Christopher: Will Not Work on ASUS Transformer TF101 I love this app and WAS using it daily on my ASUS Transformer, running Android 3.2.1, and my Samsung Galaxy Nexus, running Android 4.0.2, until the update to v0.8. The updated app works as expected on my phone but will not work at all on my Transformer. Constant Force Closes. The app won't launch at all. I cleared data, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. No luck. Perhaps when my Transformer gets the OTA update to ICS the new version of this app will work. I sure hope so. I bought this app and have come to rely on it. Real bummer. Minus one star for not updating the app often enough. Minus two stars for poor testing. |
[2012-02-07] Steve: Hmmm. I wanted to try this out but it crashes on the beta version of dropbox. Other potential buyers just be aware of this. Probably more of dropbox's fault but it would be nice if dev had tested it with the beta already to check for incompatibility. |
[2012-02-07] Boyd: Crashes since update No longer starts on my a500 since last update. |
[2012-02-07] Butch: Looks promising (GNex) Great and simple on Linux (or anything with a text editor, for that matter), but I can't get it to work on my Galaxy Nexus. It stays stuck at the "Dropbox Login", where it asks for permission, I allow, then back to the login screen. Can't wait for an update to fix this! My life will finally be organized... |
[2012-02-07] Johan: Looks great, appears to work fine on xperia mini pro. Can you please give the widget a dropdown to let me filter tasks by context? |
[2012-02-06] Christiaan: Excellent! Great app. Simple to use, and the fact that it syncs using a completely open and portable method is fantastic! |
[2012-01-16] Cadence: Why did I wait so long... futzing around with Google Tasks integration apps? This Just Works. Thank you, Gina! Now, could we please have a widget? |
[2012-01-07] Dan: Great Nice and simple.... |
[2012-01-05] Dan: Yep It's exactly what it says. A SIMPLE todo list. Probably the very first one that I've installed that will actually use. Thanks for the KISS (Keep It Simple S....) |
[2012-01-02] Carsten: destroyed my notes Did not upload my notes to Dropbox. In order to fix, I logged out from Dropbox and back in again. Now all my notes are deleted, and there is no backup anywhere. |
[2011-12-31] Christopher: Dropbox integration not working... Unfortunately the integration with Dropbox is not ok. The idea behind the application is great, but this issue must be corrected as planned. BR. |
[2011-12-27] Andrew W: Excellent to-do app Simple, useful, cloud-driven and cross-platform. What's not to like?!!! |
[2011-12-26] Mark: Idea I guess is to be simplistic but it is too simplistic to the point of being awkward. Dropbox sync has lost its appeal since ease of access to Google tasks sync. |
[2011-12-25] Nick: Almost It gets stuck in offline mode, and it needs to try to go back to online mode automatically |
[2011-12-14] Ian: Simple = effective Beautifully architected and well executed. Nice one. |
[2011-12-11] Todd: Was good This app was great and had/has potential. There are bugs that are not fixed. If you have the same task that was already completed on your list it doesn't cross off the second one when you are complete. And it is really missing a widget. |
[2011-11-30] Joshua: Awesome! Dead simple. Love that it syncs via dropbox to my desktop, that it is minimalist and runs via command line. Keep up the great work, Gina. |
[2011-11-16] Jerry: Needs a widget If any app needed a widget, it's this one. |
[2011-11-12] Rob: Dangerous bug! Offline mode does not currently upload changes. Changing back to online after making offline changes causes all changes to be erased! Aghhh!! |
[2011-11-05] Hank: Really useful as idea list, hours log, and todo. Wishes: mass-delete entries, and to return to last location after deleting an entry. DX |
[2011-04-26] HENRY: Can make the most accomplished slacker appear productive...thanks Ms. Trapani & company |
