Dies in the Background NR is excellent with one small problem - if left idling in the background more than a few minutes, it dies. That is, since it isn't running as an Android Service (rather as a normal application) it will constantly die when you aren't using it. With any other app this would be fine, but it's a VPN - once you pick an aapp to forward the traffic to, it will ALWAYS be in the background. Thus, you can't use it for more than 15-20 minutes at a time without relaunching and reconnecting over and over and over. I contacted their support about this and they sent me a build to test. It seems to have increased the time before the system kills it to around 40-50 minutes, but NR still doesn't run as a service, so it still dies. I suspect they merely tried to increase the process priority - which is a stop-gap solution that I could've told them wouldn't work. THIS NEEDS TO RUN AS A SYSTEM SERVICE, OR IT WILL DIE, PERIOD. Until this is fixed I am using ConnectBot and manually tunneling apps one at a time. The setup is a pain, but I can run them for 3 or 4 hours at a time and they never get killed because, with ConnectBot, the system treats SSH runnels as a SERVICE...

Works well, although freezes when 3G drops out It works quite well for me, I think some of the criticisms here are a bit harsh. Anyway the only hiccup I find is that whenever the 3G connection drops out, the NeoRouter application freezes and CPU utilization jumps to 50% or higher (even after the 3G connection is restored). So it needs some work to better handle dropouts in the connection. It will deserve 5 stars once that issue is addressed!

Does this app work? Not so far I've got neorouter set up on my pc, not much of an issue, the setup was fairly straight forward. I do wish they'd use uPNP though. I hate adding port forwards to my router for things like this. The android app is having serious issues logging in from the same lan however. I can connect computer to computer just fine, but this app on my kindle fire continually gives a cannot reach error.

not that hard video tutorials on their site. most people probably didnt create the server on their comp. configureless just means you dont have to be a network professional to do this

Note Pretty good if u know what ur doing. If u dont know what port forwarding is then u prob shouldn't attempt vpn. research port forwarding and firewall control then u will be fine.

5 Stars for those with a domain login However, I don't have domain logon at home, so I cannot login to the application to use the vpn feature and therefore cannot logon to my uni VPN server. Not useful for me. I like the concise permissions required though.
