[2013-08-29] A Google User: Unneccessary. Worse even old windows mobile versions. There is no updates or improvements. Naturally worse than ios version too. Lack of user interface, it's not userfriendly, almost userenemy. Waste of money. |
[2013-08-09] A Google User: Bait and switch I am an old user of HanDbase for Palm. This $10 version is only intended to lead you into a version that really works, assuming they have a higher priced version that does function. |
[2013-08-02] A Google User: A shadow Of its former glory with palm come on guys get with the modern age |
[2013-07-19] A Google User: Are You Glad for HanDBase? Still Android's only stable fully graphical relational database so indispensible. The basics are here (must check their docs templates) & devs very responsive. But awaiting features: multimedia data types, intent integration, regexes, industry-standard format backup/restore. Cf Memento, NoteLynx (non-relational), My Data, abcDB (relational). Server feature helps but extra premium-price desktop integration is way out of line: we build enterprise SQL dbs for free these days! |
[2013-07-12] A Google User: Waiting for forms support Scheduled for July? Will there be configurable query reports? Otherwise enjoying the functionality.... would love to have a stylesheet function, use this as backend to html form input... overall good - could be amazing. |
[2013-06-27] A Google User: Good basic database with new definition of a "form" Capable database with a lot of good features. The "form" is more like a filtered table view - which is very useful as it allows you to sort by date, putting recent entries on the screen. What I was hoping for was "forms" in the sense that Ms Access has them, as a customisable data entry screen. Every field will take up a whole line - for a small screen this is not a good use of the space. Date and time and some other data could easily fit on one line and you typically don't need the labels. Overall: good |
[2013-06-16] A Google User: HandBase Database Great App, I wish the developer add the option to be able to edit row height and, also adding call feature. Keep up the good work, the app is very nice and running very smooth. |
[2013-05-15] A Google User: Functions well, waiting for upgrades Just bought this recently, it functions well for now, but I'm waiting for features (from other platform) to hit android as well, especially forms and photos. Hopefully it will be soon. Until then switching back and forth between this and memento depending on whether I need photos or not |
[2013-05-02] A Google User: Works Well. No Longer Supported? Old Palm & Symbian user. This app works well on my Nexus 4. Website / Releases not updated for awhile now. Wonder if we'll ever get Forms for Android version? Good bang for Buck value. Recommended. |
[2013-04-21] A Google User: Reliable and friendly I have been using HanDBase since the heyday of the Palm, through S60, IOS and now Android. The app has proved reliable and adaptable and I cannot imagine not having it available. I also use the desktop add-on Setting up databases and altering their fields and parameters is straight-forward and intuitive and the user is able to import and export data to/from external files. Other versions of the database did have a 'forms' ability, which I used on my Palm. Amazingly easy to spend hours tweaking something that works fine :-) When the IOS app first came out, this facility was not available but I got used to not having it quite quickly. The easy screen scrolling of the iPhone to some extent mitigated against this absence, and the same applies to Android. I guess if forms became available I would use them, but the app is perfectly usable without. Support is very prompt and helpful. On the odd occasion when I have asked for advice, this has taken a day to appear, but given the difference in our time-zones, I regard this as excellent service. All in all, an excellent database application. |
[2013-04-20] A Google User: Best database out there Great app. |
[2013-03-29] A Google User: Just the ticket I have been looking for a replacement for abcDb that I used to use on Windows CE devices. This is not quite so comprehensive but far simpler and very effective for mobile data capture. Needs barcode capture to make this 5 star for me. |
[2013-03-28] A Google User: Lazy It seems like the developers are merely going through the motions with this app none of the external apps work no dialers no photo not even a barcode I used this app first on ios and was very happy to see it in play store, but seems like they are only concerned with I-crap no interest for us |
[2013-03-17] A Google User: Needs work Conflicts with other apps when opening CVS or apps |
[2013-02-22] A Google User: Needs improvement Long time user. Key improvements have been made, like being able to backup a database file to Dropbox (or your choice). One area needing improvement is the ability to make forms on the phone/tablet. This seems obvious for usability. It appears to be a one of a kind database app, so I'll keep using it. But would switch if one came along with forms capability. |
[2013-02-19] A Google User: Slick, but limited This app looks good but lacks the functionality of the Smartlist To Go app that I had on my palm previously. There is just no way that I can duplicate those databases on this android app. Most importantly, it lacks the ability to write functions. |
[2013-02-15] A Google User: The best on Android Having tested other database managers thoroughly I declare this one to be the best. |
[2013-02-13] A Google User: Some good features, some misleading ads I was initially quite excited by this app --- it promotes itself as having some good features, and the photos on the apps Play page make it look really clever, compared to other apps BUT those photos will NEVER be obtained using the current version Android app, they come from apps for other platforms (in this case, at least, the desktop addon)!!! And some of the best features are dependent on purchasing expensive addons. It certainly has "potential" but I think its full advertised price, and its adds, need to include reference to those more expensive addons. The current promotion can't truly be considered as other than a scam. These "deficiencies" explain the current low rating of the app, but not the obscenely high ratings for its competitor -- we simply don't have an "adequate" Android database app. And after sales support? Fuggedaboutit! My non-receipt of "service", related to inability to access Play Market sales records, shows they shouldn't be selling through here. |
[2013-02-12] A Google User: Link to Photos? When are we going to have the ability to link photos in the Android version of this app? |
[2013-02-11] A Google User: Excellent effort by developer Have been using this software for 3 months and I find it quite powerful once you get to know it. The developer is extremely helpful and even helped me with a problem I had where I couldn't figure out how to make a linked table. With this said I am convinced that he is working hard in solving all problems and requests and definitely deserves 5* rating |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: Keeps getting better I have not found the features i dream of. I am a long time user back to the palm os version. It has come a long way and I have come to expect those features in newer products, no support photos and gps location. However the email technical support is very responsive. |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: Excellent App! I'm a fairly basic user of databases, and HanDBase has served me well for many years. I mostly use it for securely storing 3 things: - my personal information, like garage door code, password for network backup drive, reward card #s etc... - internet IDs/Passwords. - non-internet IDs/Passwords like work & home computers. It's easy to setup custom databases like the ones above and one I use frequently for mileage tracking of my landlord activities. It also easily syncs from my android phone to my PC, so I always have a backup as I transition to a new phone and can easily convert the mileage DB to a spreadsheet for taxes. |
[2013-02-08] A Google User: Cross-platform db HanDBase can handle any of your list you need to keep easily but also has some more advanced features like calculated fields and table relationships for your more complicated needs. One of the best features is its ability to share the same database across platforms - I use it with my PC, Android tablet, Android phone, and an iPad. |
[2013-02-05] A Google User: I use this everyday I like being able to sync with MS Access. This is my favorite app. |
[2013-02-01] A Google User: Ui is terrible Functions are there. I think it's a powerful app. However, the ui is just so terrible. White text on black background. No ability to change font size. Ect. I just can't this app because the ui is just too un user friendly. |
[2013-01-17] A Google User: Works perfectly on Nexus 7 & Xoom 2. Used to have this software on a windows PDA, and it had served me well for years. New records are easy to add to established databases. The search function works particularly well in my databases of 2200+ records' instantly narrowing down the possible records. The latest update has just demonstrated to me how careful the developers are in getting this to work right. The addition of copy and move records was the icing on the cake for me, allowing easy duplication of records between databases without having to enter the data twice. This is without doubt my most useful and valuable app! |
[2013-01-08] A Google User: Sean PA I loved this app on my palm, now I have full DB on my android. |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: Search feature not compatible Since the Verizon Android update to "Ice Cream Sandwich," the advanced search function no longer works properly. When a term is found in the database, Handbase doesn't go to it and you have to scroll through your database to look for the highlighted record. If the database is large, that's a real pain. Others have noted sudden losses of data. I have experienced that in multiple platforms of Handbase, especially with encrypted files, so having a backup is vitally important. |
[2013-01-07] A Google User: WiFi sync. Great program. Have been using for several years on different platforms. I love the new WIFI sync. With the new sync option I can keep all devices in sync with little effort. |
[2012-12-29] A Google User: l've used HanDBase for Palm for years & just migra To quote another reviewer: "Only workable customizable database on the planet!" I've been a user since the Palm OS days and have used the Angroid version since June 2011. It just gets better with every update and I've had no issues with the latest update (all my date fields are intact, search function works just fine). This is the one app I cannot do without. |
[2012-12-28] A Google User: Surprised! This program is far more powerful then I first thought. I have written a couple of fairly involved programs using 8-10 related tables and found it easy to use even lacking forms capability. |
[2012-12-28] A Google User: Love this app I have used this app for several years. The customization feature is awesome. I save time doing my timesheet on a custom db as well as track my charitable contributions. Thanks ddh for having an app that really works so well. |
[2012-12-24] A Google User: Great update The reports are really useful. Also the quick-scroll bar helps too. Thanks! |
[2012-12-17] A Google User: Great app easy to create! Need a quick database setup while mobile, this is the handy app to keep on your mobile. 5 stars |
[2012-12-17] A Google User: Only workable customizable database on the planet As a real estate professional, this is probably the only app that you will be using everyday. The latest update with data summary is fantastic, backing up sync with computer works flawlessly. Not only for real estate professionals, it has so many uses that only your imagination can take you. Inventory control, investment database, any thing that a card file will do, this will do better. If you use dataviz Smartlist to go before, this will be your only replacement. |
[2012-12-17] A Google User: update sucks the update change the date filed in all entries to today's date. all my histiry data ruined. |
[2012-12-15] A Google User: New version is great Used on my old Palm, Droid X, & now Razr. Have been able to migrate my years of data from platform to platform. Very best on market. Drop box & Drive support is good. Need forms. |
[2012-12-14] A Google User: HanDBase 4.6 !!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! For letting me move and copy records, but especially for the thumb stroller. |
[2012-11-30] A Google User: Great App Had this app on an I pod touch and it had more features than this one including a pie chart. Would give app a 5 star if that added and google drive features. Love this app though. |
[2012-11-23] A Google User: Waste of Money! What a waste of money if you are an Android user. Used to be great when it was on Palm and IOS. I want a refund! |
[2012-11-11] A Google User: Love this program ! Only feature that is missing is the ability to sum and count within the report menu - otherwise perfect program. Thank you |
[2012-11-09] A Google User: The single reason I bought it doesn't work I got it to do service reports, and have the customer *sign* it. THe signature part has been broken for over a the year I've had it. now other then that, its pretty good. Fix the siggy, and I'll fix my rating :) Guess the signature 'feature' will never get fixed. |
[2012-11-06] A Google User: Disappointing I am disappointed with the lack of features. No report or form generator, no backup. Sync between devices or desktop version clumsy or to complicated because of lack of MTP. No barcode field. I am happy to pay a decent sum for a good DB but this one is rather a disappointment for the price it cost. I also don't like the fact that the developer never mentioned lack of MTP support which makes synchronizing with desktop version of hanbase almost impossible for the average user. |
[2012-11-04] A Google User: Handbase Top database! |
[2012-10-30] A Google User: not entirely intutive but works well Could use more settings for the presentation, and a complete sql interpreter for the views and searches. But works well on a galaxy77. |
[2012-10-08] A Google User: Great database app, but crashes way too often Been using HanDBase since Palm / WinMo days. If I was rating those versions, 5 stars. Unfortunately, the Android version rates only 3 stars due to constant crashing (force close). It is a rarity when it does not crash at least once each session. I use a plethora of Android devices, and it crashes on all of them. Contacted support several months ago, sent log files, and awaiting the fix while experiencing daily crashes. Wanted to give them several months to fix problem before rating, time is up. |
[2012-10-07] A Google User: Not Ready for Android I used to have this on Palm and Desktop - sync'd beautifully and operated flawlessly, but that was a decade ago. There is no way to sync my Android tablet to desktop version and product doesn't seem to support the Android platform as a focus, but rather an afterthought...a distant afterthought. May be worthwhile once a mature product for the platform is ready to sync a tablet without a wire, this is 2012. |
[2012-10-06] A Google User: Not bad at all Tried loads, this one works even with linked tables. No form designer though, and can not print.Does not link through to contacts and no image/ attachmrnt support |
[2012-09-19] A Google User: Mostly Crashes Installed on Iconia tab A100. Completely unusable as it dumps to the "Desktop " every few seconds , often without user interaction. Some features look cool but I can't run it long enough to tell. |
[2012-09-16] A Google User: His is a great application Have used Handbase for a number of years on the Palm platform and glad to see it on Android - excellent app, deceptively powerful database that is easy to use especially for a mobile platform |
[2012-09-14] A Google User: No pictures make me unhappy It had good reviewes so I bought it but within 5 minutes of using it found out that it had no picture data type, Uninstalled, Not for me, would like my money back please |
[2012-09-11] A Google User: Fix signature field! Signature field doesn't work on droid x. Makes the app worthless. |
[2012-09-01] A Google User: Great db |
[2012-08-22] A Google User: Was the best on palm and blackberry I love, use since palm. But now if you close a db that is encrypted it trashes the db. Shame! Best of it kind though! |
[2012-08-11] A Google User: Excellent Customer Support Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 ICS After years of using HandBase on my Palm Pilot I was thrilled to find out there was an Android version. I love this app/db. Easy to use and very functional. I experienced one minor glitch but Brian from Tech Support was quick to analyze the problem and provide an updated version. All is good now. |
[2012-08-10] A Google User: just as it says on the tin i am so pleased with this database! my first purchase and hopefully the only one i'll need to run my private hire and wedding business car on my tab 2. eaxy to set up and easier to use. well done chaps! |
[2012-08-09] A Google User: don't stop!! Thanks for dropbox! Guys u do rly sure job! Keep going! Love user |
[2012-08-07] A Google User: App crashes on my Sony LT26i I bought this app hoping for a good database app. Worked for 1 day then crashes everytime I open it. I contacted DDH software who told me to uninstall and reinstall the app - no difference. DDH have given me some good advice to get a refund though to through Google play. Apart from not being usable for me seems to be a good app. |
[2012-07-31] A Google User: Thank you for google drive integration This is what I have been waiting for now I can update database on phone and tablet and google drive is an automatic backup GOOD JOB |
[2012-07-23] A Google User: Its all here! Really flexible data base. Excellent support when I had to reinstall due to a device problem. This software is how it's supposed work. Great program! |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: Very good I run this across several platforms and it is the best database app. Just needs the addition of forms |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: Great App Best database app...... Been using handbase since palm. Have it on Android and Apple. Would really like forms, but is still the best...... keep up the good work. |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: Upload to Drop box available After update I can share database to Drop box. Way to go. Good job! |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: 5 stars Best and only database app on market that is truely customizable to my needs. |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: Broken "No Date" selection still does not work on ICS |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: H Khan Great database have been using it since palm years. |
[2012-07-21] A Google User: Customer Support is Excellent HanDBase was one of my first app purchases on Android Market and my first and only experience with a database app on Android. First on DroidX and now on Samsung Galaxy Nexus. HanDBase is easy to learn and simple to use. |
[2012-07-15] A Google User: Excellent Na |
[2012-07-13] A Google User: Corrupts data I have used handbase since WinMo days. The Android version is simply unacceptable. It corrupts password encrypted databases regularly - I have been foolish enough to lose an important database three times. Forced closes, limited functionality, unreliable. What else can I say? |
[2012-06-26] A Google User: Unreliable My whole pw protected database with invaluable data disappeared completely. The developer should warn users not to store important information in the database! Overpriced for such an unreliable application!! HTC incredible |
[2012-06-23] A Google User: Great database sw I have been using HanDBase for years, starting with my Windows phone. It does what I need, well. |
[2012-06-17] A Google User: Feels like a very professional piece of software Wanted something like SprintDB pro for my wife's android phone ( we had used win 6.1 mobiles till recently ). The developer is very upfront and realistic about the cost and business risk of developing forms for the android platform but, in fact, after only 10 mins with this app and a demo of the desktop s/ware, I managed to be able to do 90% of what I needed with our access db import from the pc. The search by filter on the basic imported source tables is very slick and the whole feel of the app is very good. I have tried demo's of some apps that claim that they can sync with access but gave up in all cases since I couldn't get them to work after an hour or two. In some ways it is a shame that microsoft dropped windows mobile and then are still p***g around trying to launch window phone 8 - albeit with a limited no of platforms. Android looks like the way but it is a pain trying to reproduce what we need ( outlook, dB, mail office etc ) on this platform. My only comment is that I hesitated trying this for some time because of the lack of a time limited demo on the android - OK its not much but when you're assessing apps, it can mount up. |
[2012-06-06] A Google User: Please update Signature field dont work. Really dont wanna buy a ipod touch. |
[2012-05-30] A Google User: Better Bug fix appears to have taken care of force close. Still needs cloud sync. (Gdocs spreadsheet or something) |
[2012-05-27] A Google User: Incomplete product It is a shame to ask $10 for an incompelete product! You cannot create forms, reports. You cannot specify which field is visible in the different views. Developers should add these features soon, or reduce the price significantly. Not equal value for money. |
[2012-05-26] A Google User: 乱码 这个软件完全不支持中文,中文显示乱码,如果数据库名是中文的话,数据库打不开。非常遗憾!!! |
[2012-05-21] A Google User: Corrupts databases on evo! Keeps force closing and it corrupted two of my DBs. I had to recreate from scratch! |
[2012-05-20] A Google User: Used to be great, but Android version weak HandBase used to be a winning combination running on my Mio and my PC, but when I switched to the Galaxy, I found out that the Android version does not support Unicode, so had to go look for another data base manager (and found Memento). |
[2012-04-28] A Google User: HanDBase |
[2012-04-19] A Google User: No forms - no good. |
[2012-04-19] A Google User: They've been great 10+ years Works great on my HTC Evo 4G tablet. I wish the they would hurry up and build a forms designer, like I had with my Palm Treo and my WebOS Palm Pre classic versions. These guys are great coders, but they have to keep up with the fast pace of the mobile internet world. |
[2012-04-19] A Google User: Needs Forms Designer This used to be the best database on Palm thanks to powerful features and a good forms designer. Without the latter it's only half as useful I'm afraid. |
[2012-04-19] A Google User: Getting better Long time user from Palm. This application goes a long way toward making Android a serious operating system. Evo. |
[2012-04-17] A Google User: A good database This app is a powerful data with many impressive features and I use it a lot. My main complaint is that the presentation of the data on the screen is lacklustre and there is no means of adjusting it. When there is a lot of data to digest on screen, presentation is very important and here Handbase falls short. It is still the best of the bunch though. |
[2012-04-15] A Google User: Could be better I have been using this on an HTC windows mobile for years and rated it great but this version only rates 3* (just). This gives the impression of being rushed out. Although I am running it on a tablet it does not rotate, the color scheme is B/W, unlike the WM version there is no overall settings I can find. Unfortunately for me the serious apps for Andoid are few and far between, which is a shame. A very good database on windows but poor to average on,'Droid. Sadly still unable to retire my HTC. |
[2012-04-11] A Google User: Force close & default date issue. Each time i open program, i receive force close message, but when i reopen, program acts okay. When using current date as the default date, any data entered will always display current date, even if data was entered a week ago, it will display the current date for that field when in view mode. |
[2012-03-28] A Google User: Works Great, Needs Features Great functionality but there has been no features added for years. How about forms, reports, and the ability to sync between devices? This program has tons of potential, unfortunately it is limited by the lack of needed features. |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: Not perfect (yet) but still a life saver With a phone AND PDA in my shirt pocket for 10+ years, I finally bought an Android phone hoping for 1 device for everything. I rely heavily on the productivity features. It's been a major task converting everything to run on the new phone, wouldn't have even considered it if HanDBase hadn't been available for Android. | Like some other users here, after using Palm and Windows Mobile versions 10 years or so, I was shocked to find how many features were missing from the Android version, but whilst my databases are large and many, they are uncomplicated. The biggest misses are reports (I use Max, Min and Sum a lot) and forms. I could live without forms if only the fields on the phone were about ⅔ the screen width instead of ½ (or user selectable) but reports is harder. | Having read the developer's explanation on the website, I have some sympathy, and am learning to live with what IS there, which meets 80% of my needs. I was a big treat just to copy the files across without any alteration. | Though I use it a lot, it *only* crashes about once per day on my SonyE Xperia Mini Pro (never on Palm/Win versions), although I try to always exit' properly. Can live with that for now. |
[2012-03-20] A Google User: Crashes on every save I have the Asus transformer tablet. App creates multiple copies of the same database every time i open and close a table. It also closes with no warning every 2 to 3 minutes. This was a really good app in the old palm days but has not kept up with the times and unlike it's stable parent, it sucks. Very disappointed that this app that i have used for many years ended up like this. In addition to the cashing the interface to pc and Access is identical to what it was back when. No cloud. No direct import from Access it cant read an mdb file directly.?? Gui has not changed. |
[2012-03-11] A Google User: Outstanding When this has all of the features of the other platforms that it is made for it will be the number one database for Android. I use this every day to track my trips since no one makes a good drivers log program for Android it was easy to use Handbase to design and implement my own. Keep up the good work guys. |

[2012-03-02] A Google User: Unreliable Frequent force closes. Had a large password protected database that suddenly won't open. Do not try to use for anything that matters. |
[2012-02-20] A Google User: Good but... 1 star removed because the product is expensive but still buggy a little bit. Another start is removed because tbe archaic way of syncronisation by the USB cable (no wifi!) |

[2012-01-21] A Google User: Hands down the best db in android market. I tried Took away some stars. It started crashing. Needs some development to be viable. No longer the best. |

[2012-01-10] A Google User: Sad Long time user of this app on Palm TX, Ipod Touch and PC. Now a Mac user. Doesn't sync with my Android and desktop Mac program. Very sad. Will have to find a new app and desktop program. |

[2012-01-08] A Google User: Using HanDBase for 13 Years I've been using this program for a long time. It ports well to Android, though syncing to desktop requires an extra purchase. Absolutely excellent for what it does. |

[2012-01-05] A Google User: Like it It is not quite as good as it was on palm but its worlds better than the blackberry version. I am happy and believe it will only get better. |
[2011-12-28] A Google User: Incomplete Missing many basic features, can't set all rows to a value for a specific column, can't copy/move rows from one DB to another, lack of forms support. Just doesn't feel production ready. |
[2011-12-11] A Google User: Works for me. Needs auto or manual backup to SD chip feature. Still force closing occasionally. |
