EBookDroid - PDF & DJVU Reader (v. 1.5.7) Разработано EM Dev |
EBookDroid is a highly customizable document viewer for Android.
EBookDroid supports the following ebook and document formats: DjVU, PDF, XPS (OpenXPS), FictionBook (fb2 and fb2.zip), Comics Book formats (cbr and cbz), plus - starting with version 2.0 - EPUB and RTF.
EBookDroid 2.0 provides the following extra tools:
- Text selection and external dictionary support.
- Text highlighting
- Free-hand annotations.
- Text notes and page notebooks.
Collaboration with electronic publication sites and access to online ebook catalogs is allowed by the supported OPDS ( [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OPDS Open Publication Distribution System) protocol. This is the reason the app is requiring permissions for network access.
EBookDroid allows you to customize the way you read on a per book basis: each document's layout can be tailored to give you the best reading experience and all settings will be remembered the next time you will open it.
Whatever your document, be it a two-faced xerox, a book with wide asymmetric margins or a multi-column article, EBookDroid provides you with features to split pages, automatically or manually crop margins and instantly zoom to a column's content. Please refer to the Wiki section of the developers' website for further instructions on how to use such features (don't forget to read the FAQ).
Should you experience any problems, please report them in the Issues section on the developer's website, at the following address: http://code.google.com/p/ebookdroid/.
If you are having issues with a specific document, don't forget to attach it to your question to the developers.
Please note:
EbookDroid uses MIME types to handle different file types. Unfortunately, Android's and many other file managers might not support all MIME types. When this happens, you will not be able to open said files directly from the file manager. Some file managers allow you to add new MIME types and associate them with the corresponding file extensions. Refer to your file manager manual to get further instructions on how to do that. All MIME types supported by EBookDroid can be found in the Wiki section of the developer's website.

[2013-10-31] A Google User: Great app After one moth I can say that this app has all basic features I need. It is very flexibly and I so far I have experienced few crashes |
[2013-10-31] A Google User: Good app |

[2013-10-30] A Google User: Best app out there for pdf files it can open mulitiple and resume to the the one you recently had open perfect app |
[2013-10-30] A Google User: No longer the best Used to open any PDF I threw at it. Now it seems to hang and I have to wait for blank screens to display the page properly. |
[2013-10-29] A Google User: outstanding 5 star it just very good no more words to express awesome.. |
[2013-10-29] A Google User: Amazing! It takes some time to find all the options and menus, and I'm sure I haven't found them all. For example, you can annotate books, and if you look under supported tools, you'll find an option to start annotation as soon as the s-pen of the Samsung note is detected. |
[2013-10-29] A Google User: Does some things well Renders pdf files better than any other app I've found, including adobe but as a general reader it has a very clunky interface, is slow and has limited customization. Cool Reader is much better. |
[2013-10-28] A Google User: It has everything the other readers should. This reader is awesome. I love that I can set a first page offset (when have you seen a pdf that actually starts on page 1?) and it keeps your settings for each individual document. The bookmarks and custom button and tapping features work flawlessly. |
[2013-10-27] A Google User: 5 star U no make me no choose u. Best one hope some day it's can read doc file :) |
[2013-10-26] A Google User: Good So Far so good. Just got it, so still trying it out. Wish u could "fit to page" when u zoom. Kinda like web pages do, but other than that, really nice app. |
[2013-10-26] A Google User: Excellent Allows speedy movement through a document with no life long waits for a page to load. Ideal for storing my lecture handouts at university. |
[2013-10-26] A Google User: Great Easy to use and has useful features |
[2013-10-25] A Google User: good app very nice |
[2013-10-24] A Google User: Best I've found |
[2013-10-24] A Google User: A really nice reader.... |
[2013-10-24] A Google User: BAD! Won't read my PDF files. Says can't open them. Only app that won't. I got this app for small size, but it's worthless. |
[2013-10-24] A Google User: The best Absolutely the best for reading PDFs as ebooks, but there is a lot of room for improvements. For many purposes a text reflow such as that provided by repligo reader would be great. Also, it would be great if it could automatically understand the chunks of text for example for a two column document. |
[2013-10-23] A Google User: Must have app! |
[2013-10-23] A Google User: PDF OK, epub a mystery Would be great, if it was made apparent how to actually load .epub files. Googling only let me know that the author has been kind of a jerk about it. |
[2013-10-22] A Google User: Добавьте возможность рисовать. Иногда надо что то подчеркнуть. А так отлично. |
[2013-10-22] A Google User: Great reader, poor interface Save dialog is pre ICS interface. The wood grain bookshelves look awful on xxhdpi phones. Could we have something that is not skeumorphic |
[2013-10-21] A Google User: Best PDF reader This is the best pdf reader on the market. I tried a lot nothing comes close to this. Smooth scrolling and bookmarking FTW on my kindle fire |
[2013-10-21] A Google User: Poor Poor Graphics on s4 |
[2013-10-20] A Google User: Very fluidic A very smooth reader. Fast page switching. Tried a lot of eBook readers ... For me this is the best so far. Cheers |
[2013-10-20] A Google User: Does not crash on Walking Dead like ACV and PV This app is much more intuitive to use and has never crashed on downloaded an transfered comics like ACV. Just sync and read unlike the complicated find source process in PV viewer. No problems yet. |
[2013-10-20] A Google User: Super Gret |
[2013-10-19] A Google User: Crop page (auto) - AWESOME |
[2013-10-18] A Google User: Excellent nd fast Very nice reader .fast nd smooth i like it nd keep it up. |
[2013-10-18] A Google User: No longer free software! EBookDroid is actually an excellent ebook reader, arguably one of the best gratis ebook readers on Android. However, I just found out the source code became closed and proprietary after version 2, so I'll be uninstalling EBookDroid and using the free and open source software (FOSS) forked version, known as Document Viewer, from now on, and it can be found on F-Droid. No idea why the developer of this wonderful app decided to close the source code, but for doing so, I'm rating EBookDroid one star only. |
[2013-10-17] A Google User: Great App! Easy to use especially down loading pdf files. Books are beautifully displayed, tried others finally one that works great! I love this App! |
[2013-10-16] A Google User: Old ui :-( Doesn't optimize with quality to my tablet and ui is old and clumsy. |
[2013-10-16] A Google User: Very nice! fast and organized. I use it for comics.. |
[2013-10-16] A Google User: excellent I have tried 20+ ebook readers. But only satisfied with this. Now it's cool with highlighting and drawing facilities |
[2013-10-16] A Google User: Best Reader About ***** I have tried many readers but could never find one that covered all the formats I required until now. If you use a device to read anything at all use this. Excellent .Well Done |
[2013-10-15] A Google User: Was cool. Now has got crappy It was a nice prog. Now with new interface, crashes often. Cannot open the old ebooks, with error "no page tree". But it could some time ago. UNINSTALL |
[2013-10-15] A Google User: Great except the bookshelf I think you should design the bookshelf more modern and beautiful... |
[2013-10-14] A Google User: Very bad I've been using quick ofc fr a while nw, There's no txt wrapping, which means we hav to move manually inside a page.. |
[2013-10-14] A Google User: :) great! I've rated before using the app coz I know its gonna be great!, looking at the screen shots & the comments... I don't think any other reader would support so many formats! Specially djvu & xps not even moon reader+ It woulda be great if u would add options to download ebooks from within the app one of the best websites- magazines3k find others yourself.... Please do consider this review. |
[2013-10-13] A Google User: Doesn't work on nexus 7 2013 Opening PDFs through the file system gets stuck on loading. if the PDFs are opened within another app, e.g. Google drive it works well |
[2013-10-12] A Google User: Its nice But want some more improvement in full screen mode. |
[2013-10-12] A Google User: Perfect This app is my favourite for reading... Specially when it comes to landscape books... Thanks for the great app |
[2013-10-12] A Google User: Very nice Best pdf reader ever |
[2013-10-12] A Google User: perfect without a doubt , the absolute best pdf ebook reader |
[2013-10-12] A Google User: Very good ereader Standout feature is to store separate settings for each document, e.g. whether to auto-crop or scrolling v single page reader. |
[2013-10-11] A Google User: Great interface, love it for mags. |
[2013-10-10] A Google User: Wastage of data This did not open any files downloaded from Gutenberg. More over does not allow to download from the Gutenberg links built in to the app. |
[2013-10-09] A Google User: Superb One of my very favorites. A terrific reader! Reads my comics too! I use this app. daily. last update was great. If there is a pro or paid version I'm going to buy it. Keep up the good work. |

[2013-10-08] A Google User: Lies This app does not let me import books |
[2013-10-07] A Google User: Good Good thanks. |
[2013-10-06] A Google User: Need Optimization It searches new files everytime the app is started. Instead, there should be a manual search trigger. |
[2013-10-06] A Google User: Really good That's it which I want... Really good application to read ebooks... |
[2013-10-06] A Google User: Poor I installed this app to highlight in pdf, images show the same. But where the hell is highlight option? :@ |
[2013-10-06] A Google User: Great! The best eBook reader I've ever used! |
[2013-10-05] A Google User: Preposterous and arrogant developers Interesting that I found the most replies the developers have ever given are asking users to actually remove their app: many people claim to have uninstalled it and the developers seem to have given every one of them a reply "please do un-install it. Google shows you are using it (liars..)" I just can't believe everyone is lying and the app is just so good that no one would really want to live without it. As one of these users pointed out, either Google isn't showing the correct statistics or the developers are trying to discredit negative reviews. Even weirder is that sometimes a user reports a crash, and instead of trying to reproduce the problem, the developers say "We have tested it and found no issue, Look like your review is a spam". Can't imagine spams to be so detailed.. The app is above average though. |
[2013-10-05] A Google User: Prudhvi Nice app very useful to read ebooks |
[2013-10-05] A Google User: Best one It is d best one i've ever used.. |
[2013-10-05] A Google User: Cannot render some pdf files correctly This app fails to correctly render some PDF files. Some letters show up as on top of each other. And those same files can be opened without any problem using other apps (Kingsoft Office, Kindle, Adobe Reader, Quick Office, Polaris Viewer). |
[2013-10-05] A Google User: Best The best PDF reader for android |
[2013-10-04] A Google User: Best reader of them all Opens a variety of formats. It just works |
[2013-10-03] A Google User: Great but not perfet I would rate this perfectly if it had two more features. The first is being able to highlight passages and link notes to the highlighted passage. This could be done with a long press. The second is being able to highlight a word and automatically get a definition. These are two features that kindle has with their e books, but not when reading a PDF. I read lots of scientific journal articles in PDF format and I would like to save some paper and be able to read them on my Galaxy tab. But I have to be able to put notes and highlight. Give me the above listed features and this app will be perfect. |
[2013-10-02] A Google User: ;-) |
[2013-10-02] A Google User: Almost perfect For pdf books, it's perfect. For epub, I'm not sure if there's something in the settings, but it changed some of the characters which made it hard for me to read some of the ebooks. |
[2013-10-02] A Google User: It's nice Work vry well... |
[2013-10-01] A Google User: I like it,not bad at all. |
[2013-10-01] A Google User: Just excellent Best eBook reader IMHO. |

[2013-10-01] A Google User: epub awsome app...but i cannot load my epub format books.. if not 5 stars for sure |
[2013-09-29] A Google User: Suggestion Pls allow s-pen to scroll down pages. So i can just hover my s-pen and read without scrolling the screen. Thanks. If implemented i will rate 5 stars |
[2013-09-29] A Google User: Inverted colors are great After searching far and wide on how to view PDF files with inverted colors, this is the only app that actually works. |
[2013-09-28] A Google User: Ok Good...teman setiaku |
[2013-09-28] A Google User: better app thanks |
[2013-09-28] A Google User: Page load is sluggish Changing pages on single page view is to sluggish and makes reading long form books difficult |
[2013-09-28] A Google User: Can't open epub |
[2013-09-27] A Google User: Great app.. This app works better than I hoped... |
[2013-09-27] A Google User: It did its job, and that was all. It was awkward using this app. I decided to just uninstall and try out universal book. I gave it three stars because it did its purpose. It allowed me to read my PDF books. Its not for me, however, it still gets the job done. |
[2013-09-25] A Google User: Does everything I want it to But man, what an ugly UI. Please make a Holo theme gray or white background. Skewmorphism and spiderwebs? Ugh. Give me something clean like pocket. If there were ANY other app that did what ebookdroid does I would use it. I unpacked the app and made it look decent with some small UI changes. |
[2013-09-25] A Google User: Bad Bad |
[2013-09-25] A Google User: Great until the latest jellybean update, now it crashes constantly. Please fix! Also, the highlighting feature is hard to use. I end up underlining instead. |
[2013-09-24] A Google User: Outstanding! ! PDF best of ever.. |
[2013-09-24] A Google User: Buggy Opens documents from recent list when I try to open specific file. |
[2013-09-24] A Google User: Isn't DjVuLibre GPLed? The software was undoubtedly the best of all, especially with support for ePub and highlighting/annotation. However, going closed-source seems a rather weird move (Isn't the DjVuLibre library that EBookDroid uses GPLed?) Maybe indeed the majority of people don't contribute to the code, but what are you trying to achieve by going closed-source? It certainly won't prevent other companies offering to buy you out (the somewhat lame excuse from the developers). Many people would be more willing to support an open source app in the form of feedback and suggestions so that the resulting program can potentially benefit future work (XPS format are just not that common and it's no surprise that no people noticed the bug). UPDATE: highlighting is very difficult and un-intuitive to use, and rendering of PDFs with equations is bad (so texts in double-column journal articles will sometimes overlap). The loading speed can be improved by setting the number of prefetched pages to >= 1 -- the arrogant developer may consider making this a default. |
[2013-09-24] A Google User: The best This is by far the best and most versatile ebook and pdf reader I've ever seen. Lately it has been crashing when going from one book shelf to the next. Running on Nextbook 8 tablet. Please fix. |
[2013-09-24] A Google User: Great app Work great. Love the different scroll options. |
[2013-09-23] A Google User: Problem When I download a pdf file by chrome. It keeps automatically open the file and fail to read the. When I choose to save the file, the file was saved somehow which makes it unreadable. Therefore, I cannot keep this app |
[2013-09-23] A Google User: Rubbbish Keeps crashing when opening xps docs. |
[2013-09-23] A Google User: I thought this was good Could not get it to highlight or take notes, if l Could do this i may reinstall |
