CardDAV-Sync beta (v. 0.3.10) Разработано dmfs |
CardDAV-Sync is a CardDAV client for Android to synchronize contacts. Due to its implementation as sync adapter it integrates seamlessly with the default contacts app.
(Also check out CalDAV-Sync beta)
Important note for Jelly Bean users: To prevent the removal of your accounts on reboot install this app:

Get support and news via Twitter https://twitter.com/dmfs_org
Please, if you find a bug send me an email. Without detailed error description I often can't do anything especially when I can't reproduce it. It's also possible that your server has a bug that CardDAV-Sync can not (yet) tolerate or work around. If you report bugs I can fix them quickly and everyone will benefit.
This is the paid version of CardDAV-Sync beta. It equals the free version except that it syncs more fields. Visit my website for details.
Please uninstall the free version before you install the paid one (and vice versa).
After the installation got to "Settings" > "Accounts & Sync" and create a new Account.
Important! If your phone removes the accounts on reboot, move the App back from SD card to the phone. Some phones (if not all) can't handle sync adapters on SD Card properly.
For users which are unable to edit or create synced contacts I published an editor at the market. Just search for "Contact Editor" or see my website.
Once this app reaches version 1.0, I'll make it open source.
See http://dmfs.org/wiki/index.php?title=Open_source_status for details on the open source status.
Features:
* Sync contacts from a CardDAV-server (tested and reported to work with DAViCal, SOGo, egroupware, Zimbra, david.fx, Yahoo, ownCloud ... and more see my website for details)
* basic support for self-signed certificates
* two-way-sync (please, don't forget to backup your contacts before you use this! It is still beta!)
* syncs names, phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, photos, birthdays (but please visit "date formats" on my website first), notes, instant messengers, organizations, nicknames, categories (groups), phonetic names and websites
* automatic address book discovery (works with most servers in default configuration)
* NEW! Supports Apple-style custom labels (X-ABLABEL)
It is still under development and some important features may be missing. Known limitations are:
* Contact lists (Apple-style groups) are not supported yet
* only "server wins" and "phone wins" (default) conflict resolution available (that is when a contact is updated on server and on phone between two syncs)
Please report bugs. Feedback is very welcome.
Btw: just writing a comment like "Doesn't work on..." won't help neither you nor me to get it running on your device. Please contact me if you have problems.
known bugs:
* crashes if phone orientation is changed during setup
* it may not sync if the contact collection on the server contains vcards which are not well formated (it is quite tolerant yet, but certain, very rare, format errors still will prevent a successful sync operation)
* @david.fx users: david.fx returns all links to contacts from sub-folders. Currently this leads to the situation that some contacts may appear multiple times (joined to one contact)
[2012-12-28] A Google User: it solved my problem It works great. I lost a lot of time trying to sync my contacts from Icloud to Note 2 but this program solved the problem in several seconds. Thank you! |
|
[2012-12-24] A Google User: could be perfect if it wasn't for the fact that the app blocks itself from editing the contacts, every time you restart the phone. the only option is for you to uninstall the app and install it again. Not an option obviously. hope that issue will be resolved soon enough. Otherwise will have to find other solution. |

|
[2012-10-09] A Google User: So simple I'm thrilled - it works perfectly and was simpler than I imagined. I'm using it to sync a Fruux account (also highly recommended, standards compliant). It took less than 60 seconds and now my Nexus tablet is syncing perfectly. |

[2012-09-17] A Google User: Works! Switched from iPhone 4 to S3, will never look back. Synced from icloud and chose to show only icloud sync in contacts. Done in five minutes, thank you developer! |

[2012-08-25] A Google User: Three cheers for privacy! Isn't it nice how Google lets you keep your contacts in its cloud? Yeah, it's nice until you realize that nobody is as careful with your personal information as you yourself are. I wanted to have my own cloud, so I decided to make one. I built a low-power computer for about ~$400 and installed a program called - not surprisingly - Owncloud, which has some of the same functionality as Google's cloud services. Thanks to this fantastic app, I am now able to keep my contacts stored on Owncloud instead. When I first tried to sync my contacts to Owncloud, I was confused because my contacts didn't appear on Owncloud. Then I realized that your Google account contacts aren't automatically transferred over to the contacts account this app makes - you have to do it manually. To do this, set the app to display contacts from your Google account in the People app by going to Menu -> Contacts to Display. Then go to Menu -> Import/Export -> Export to Storage. After that, set the app to display contacts from your CardDAV account and go to Menu -> Import/Export -> Import from Storage. Vendor lock-in bites. Thanks for giving us an alternative, Marten! |

[2012-06-14] A Google User: So far so good... Installed this so that I can have my iCloud contacts on my Android phone. (I run a mac set up with two macs, iPhone and iPad + an Android phone). Seems to work fine so far. It took a bit of fiddling to get the first sync to work, but seems to be fine now. For some reason the first time round it only synced contacts that I had created in iCloud AFTER I had installed CardDav. I had to delete all my Android contacts, temporarily disable my FB and LinkedIn contacts list on Android and restart everything, but then it worked like a dream. Not been brave enough to try the two way sync yet (cant afford to mess up the contacts in iCloud). Hopefully Marten will get it beyond beta so its a reliable two way sync. For the moment I can live with the one way sync as my Android phone is a "second" handset. |

[2012-06-14] A Google User: Essential For everyone not willing to share their contacts (and calendar for that matter) with google, this is a must have application. Been using it for a couple of weeks now and didn't have any issues with it. Server is davical on a debian machine. Together with tasker and Synker the perfect couple. |

[2011-10-09] A Google User: Works with our Zimbra 7 Really good to see this progress. Look forward to it opening up. Glad to support the dev, works well for our zimbra installs. |
|
[2011-09-06] A Google User: works ok on small number of contacts with Zimbra i.e. tested it out on 5-10 contacts. However, once I tried to import my 2100+ contacts using my vCard export, I started to see a lot of duplicates (sometimes up to 4). This the same problem I had with using the built-in Exchange contact sync with Zimbra). Although not every contact is duplicated (unlike with the Exchange sync). I am using Zimbra 6. If I try to restart the sync, it sometimes crashes. |
|
[2011-08-18] A Google User: Works well with GS2 and DAViCal server Well worth the money. Installed on my GS2 it two way syncs my contacts to my own DAViCal server with no problems. Developer gets back promptly to any questions. I also use the CalDAV Sync and Contact Editor++ from the same developer to complete my setup. |
