"Car Widget" make easier and quicker access to phone feature during driving.
With this widget you can assign one or more screen on your home launcher to be dedicated for usage inside the car.
Unlike car home applications you still will have access to all other screens of your launcher
Main features:
* 4x4 widget
* You can assign up to 6 shortcuts per widget
* 3 Skins: Glossy, Car Home, Metro (like Windows Phone 7)
* Includes a lot of customization options: background color
and opacity, font size and color, icons tint
* Replacement for "Car Dock" / "Car Home" applications.
* Apply custom icon and edit title of shortcut
Available shortcuts (can be expanded by installed applications):

* Direct dial (require CALL_PHONE permission)

How to add:
On phone home screen press "menu", then "add", click on "widgets" and choose "Car Widget" from the list
Car Widget Pro version includes In Car mode:
detects when you inside the car and adjusts settings of your phone
In Car mode detection (possible to combine all of options):
* When power cable connected
* When headphones connected
* When bluetooth device connected
In Car mode actions:
* Turn on bluetooth
* Disable screen timeout
* Adjust screen brightness
* Adjust volume level of media
* Switch off Wi-Fi
* Route call to speaker
* Auto Answer
Permissions
CALL_PHONE - used for direct call shortcut
BLUETOOTH and BLUETOOTH_ADMIN - required in order to switch bluetooth state
WAKE_LOCK - used to disable screen timeout
WRITE_SETTINGS - used to udjst brightness settings
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE and CHANGE_WIFI_STATE - to disable WiFi
Tips:
* On some devices you have option "Stay awake" (Under Settings -> Applications -> Development), you can enable it if your want to prevent phone from sleeping.
* Not all launchers allow to use phone in landscape mode, just replace yours with alternative one that supports it (like LauncherPro or ADW).

[2011-11-19] Glenn: Screen Rotate not working with Android 2.3 on TB I love this app. However, when my HTC Thunderbolt was updated to Android 2.3, the widget stopped Auto Rotating when the screen orientation changes. Any news on a fix for this or is there a setting I'm missing? |

[2011-11-10] Jeroen: Enable GPS and close on disconnect I use this app frequently and have to say it is working great. Would love to see two extra features added: the first (and imo the most important) is to be able to enable/disable GPS on switching car mode. The second is that is will disable car mode on disconnecting charger. Again very nice and useful app. |

[2011-11-02] Thomas: OK but a bit buggy I mainly got this to get larger icons for one touch dialing and it works fine for that. I got the pro version so it could be set to automatically turn on when it connects with the Bluetooth in the car. The indicator goes on so that apparently works but what does that get you? Doesn’t go to the home screen the widget is on, OK not a big deal but the thing that’s bugging me is the dimming feature doesn’t work. Anyone know how to fix that?
