The highlands of Togakushi in northern Nagano near the boarder with Niigata offer an excellent view of the Northern Alps and receive a lot of good snow in winter, attracting many winter sports enthusiasts. In recent years, a "power spot" at Togakushi Shrine is also getting a lot of attention.
