MobileWebCam (v. 2.990) Разработано Michael Haar |
Use your Android as a simple mobile webcam, gsm camera or cloudcam via WIFI or Mobile Network!
The picture stored in the cloud can be watched from everywhere with a browser or for example my App WebLiveWallpaper. Upload picture with various methods like http, ftp or Dropbox, send it with email or store on your sdcard for example to create a timelapse video.
Use as simple but mobile timed webcam with refresh rates from seconds to hours, with motion detection or your defined daily activity times. High resolution pictures are also possible. Mark the pictures with text or image to advertise for your place or business.
Very easy to use with opensmartcam.com or SENSR.NET.
This app provides me with a simple possibility to mail someone (my wife) and start refreshing a webcam view of what I see with one buttontap. Also it can work as a more static webcam with set activity times and picture imprint if you got a spare or partially broken phone you want to place somewhere connected to power running all the time ...
I will develop this further later after I fixed more bugs on my WebLiveWallpaper App.
Easiest usage without much setup hassle is with sensr. Then you do not even need your own homepage/server!
In the app press the MENU phone button for settings!
Http setup for your own server:
To enable your personal webcam put the included (see http settings in app or support forum thread) two files on your server.
Your personal webcam is then viewable at
http://www.YOURSERVER.COM/WHEREEVERYOUPUTYOURFILES/
Server address to be entered in Settings of App is
http://www.YOURSERVER.COM/WHEREEVERYOUPUTYOURFILES/mobilewebcam.php
You also have to enable the server to write to this directory - chmod!
And you should really enable password protection for your website if you do not enhance the php page with some security measures (filesize limit, only jpg allowed, ...). Otherwise everyone can access your camera pictures and possibly even your server!
Again:
This webcam app is a bit different. It does not stream video. It is not meant to be placed next to or connected to your Computer. It will not have nice camera preview, fx or settings because old/broken androids can be used. This camera is intended to run without user (interaction) after initial setup possibly with a cheap 2G mobile data plan (in some countries/carriers for example 30 MB of data are free and that is enough to upload several pictures a day!).
For unstable devices autostart and reboot after a number of taken pictures (my cheap jpad tablet for example crashes after about 70 pictures in a row) can be enabled in the settings.
Go here to find some support:

Android 1.5 up for old cheap hardware usage.

[2013-03-24] A Google User: Brilliant Work, highly configurable I have been researching & downloaded many apps in this category & by process of elimination ended up with this very well thought out app with loads of features and a lot of configurable settings on the device but remotely as well. I am particularly interested in the motion detection. Appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into this app & it shows. Thanks a lot. M |
[2013-03-21] A Google User: Webcam App Excellent application. Works very well. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Easy to set up and configure with lots of options. |
[2013-03-18] A Google User: Excellent! Deserve Donations!!!! I used it as motion detector in my old Droid phone in my car! Best Cam app so far and free!!!! Tried so many motion detection app but all FAILED! Reason why this one win all is because it work at night, Low light! Super excellent app, all in one with motion detector!! |
[2013-03-16] A Google User: Feature rich, can fit many different needs My first impression of the app was very positive, having many options to meet different use cases. Then, after testing long time-lapse recordings, I found out it would sometimes crash, but that is potentially due to the old device I am using. After some tweaking with the settings, updating the Android version and an app bug fixing release, it now seems to be working well. The developer is dedicated to the project and making sure it works for as many devices as possible. An idea for improvement would be to have combination of setups: being able to define different picture (tab) settings and different activity (tab) settings for different upload (tab) settings, so that for example you could define http/ftp uploads at low resolution every few seconds, high-res imaging to ftp less often and motion detection/intent events to e-mail, all running at once. In any case, great work! |
[2013-01-30] A Google User: Webcam. I JUST DOWNLOADED IT NOT SURE IF IT WILL WORK YET!I didn't know you could use a Web-Cam on mobile phone thank y ou!!!! |
[2013-01-25] A Google User: It's okay but I hope it's better |
[2013-01-01] A Google User: App sucks.always force closes.lot of mistakes |
[2012-12-31] A Google User: Has potential This does sometimes stream images via html, just very poorly. Menu is poorly made with options only available when using a web browser. Application crashes are common. Wouldn't recommend for webcam app even though it's open source. |
[2012-12-21] A Google User: It starts working then says out of memory and there is 168mb on phone and 480mb on sd card freee memory it also randomly says force close |
[2012-12-20] A Google User: fast good app |
[2012-12-04] A Google User: The Best WebCam I Ever Used I have tried more than 10 different webcam-like apps. MobileWebCam is most significant one. You might stick on it as I did for the reasons below: 1. provide the photo to you in various ways: http/ftp/dropbox and so on 2. make itself survive by many means: auto-reboot the phone(rooted), autostart when reboot, auto-retry after failures, aware of the poor camera and network-bandwidth 3. custom the photo you will see: the filename(serialno / datetime), imprint textlabel(battery status, datetime, gps(both imprint and EXIF), resolution and quality), customed trigger(timely, motion detected, keep alive) 4. some other amazing functions, such as:make AVI by the photo, clean&clear web based management All in all, MobileWebCam is the one I need. |
[2012-11-24] A Google User: Good idea, not working Excellent ser features. Hangs and throws exceptions constantly. Not working in the background at all. Uninstalled. |

[2012-10-27] A Google User: D best The best in the world |
[2012-09-18] A Google User: VIKAS I like |
[2012-08-25] A Google User: Needs improvements This is a good little app, but it needs work. First off, the thumbnail pics gotta go. We need to see a full size pic! Also, there needs to be a rapid fire option so we don't have to keep choosing which app we wanna send the pic to. We can just snap snap snap snap snap to our hearts' desire. I hope to see improvements in the next version. |
[2012-08-19] A Google User: Not really working for larger image sizes I'm uploading pictures to a FTP server, which works well on the lowest image setting. However, when using larger image sizes it says "not enough memory to process image" even though I've turned off all image processing I could find. The web server is nice for viewing error messages, but sometimes nothing is displayed in the log and no pictures are taken. Needs work - especially in the settings department, where the default values are weird and it is not really clear what's enabled and not. |
[2012-08-10] A Google User: NA Yu don't even know when the picture is taken..Ans waht web can??? |
[2012-08-07] A Google User: Web cam This is awsome!!!!!! |
[2012-08-01] A Google User: perfect |
[2012-07-27] A Google User: Small preview is annoying I understand that the preview size was reduced to allow the app to work with older devices, but is there no way to add an option in the settings so that those of us with newer phones can see something other than a tiny thumbnail? Other than that, this does exactly what I wanted. |

[2012-02-18] A Google User: Good I like it |
[2012-02-05] A Google User: Maybe some phones work better than others? This would be perfect for what I want, but trying it out it on my Desire S, the pictures come out scrambled or black. The FTP upload works great. If it could also keep taking pictures when the screen was off that would be really excellent - I believe it is meant to be a feature but again, doesn't work on my Desire. Will try on the missus' Galaxy Ace as soon as I can. Lots of useful options and a really fantastic idea. |

[2012-01-06] A Google User: Very Useful Perfect for what I needed. Used it to turn my old HTC Hero (Ver 1.6) into a webcam via ftp. |

[2011-05-16] A Google User: Promising.. but not on Inspire Sends pictures to web server. But on HTC Inspire running Android 2.2.1, camera hangs after a few shots. After killing MobileWebCam, the camera is unavailable until restart. I couldn't report this using the unresponsive app dialogue since the phone is too hung up to allow this. The PHP text provided in the Overview is inaccurate: the script is missing an opening '<?' A small HowTo would be nice to avoid more bad reviews, but it works fine for some, I'm sure. 3 stars off for not working for me; sorry |
