DSLR Remote (v. 1.5) Разработано bitshift |
Your smartphone is always with you, so why carry unnecessary stuff? Let your smartphone in combination with DSLR Remote be a remote control, a timer or a HDR controller to your digital reflex camera.
Whether via infrared, by wire or via Bluetooth (new!), DSLR Remote enables you to take timer controlled exposure series (e.g. for time lapse), long time exposures or exposure sequences in the context of High Dynamik Range photography. All you need ist a small, inexpensive and easy to build hardware, which is then connected to the ear phone jack of your smartphone (and a commercially available Bluetooth stereo headset if you want remote control via Bluetooth). You will find detailed instructions on how to build the required hardware on the authors website (http://bitshift.funpic.de).
Possible functions (among others) are:
1. Simple Remote control
2. Delayed Shots
3. Series of shots with fixed interval (e.g for time lapse)
4. Bulb exposures
5. Combinations from 2., 3. and 4.
6. High-Dynamic-Range-Sequences (HDR)
7. Time controlled HDR-Sequences (Combination of Timer and HDR)
8. Triggering of shots or start of Timer or HDR sequences by the ambient light sensor on your smartphone (keyword: light barrier)
9. Triggering of shots or start of Timer or HDR sequences by the internal or an external microphone
Caution: a few smartphone types do not output high enough volume on their ear phone jack to make the infrared harware work properly. In addition a few camera types (e.g. Canon EOS 550D) are still not properly controlled remotely via the infrared receiver. In that case you might want to choose the cable control (transistors) instead.
In various models Canon seems to limit the precision of the bulb mode to one second. So HDR exposures below 1 second and/or with a fraction of a second (as 1.5 sec) are rounded to the full second. DSLR Remote can't do anything about that! Reported models so far: 400D, 500D, 550D, 5D II.
If it doesn't work for you, feel free to contact the author, instead of voting one star. Contact information is given on the said website (http://bitshift.funpic.de).

[2012-12-10] A Google User: Doesn't work on 650d Coulnd't get it to work on my Canon 650d with my HTC desire. |
|
[2012-12-07] A Google User: D800e When I first installed this about a week ago, it only took 2 pix then stopped. There have been 2 updates since, and now it works on my d800e. My main complaint is that the interface is obscure. I am sure the developer knows how to use it, but it should be tested by new users, which would reveal how difficult it is. It should come with a PDF file of at least 3-4 pages with diagrams. The buttons on the app screen could have float over labels to use with the s-pen. Thank you for a very useful app. |

[2012-12-02] A Google User: Sweet Works great on my nook tablet running cm7 and my Samsung Galaxy s2 skyrocket running jellybean using the passive transmitter I built from instructions on the developers website. Using a Canon T2i |

[2012-10-31] A Google User: GREAT APP!!!!!!!!!!!! Worked well on my Droid x and acer a100 using cable s with my canon 60d. However IR seems to work ob other camera brand but not working with my canon 60d, have this fixed then its 5 star for me. Did not also worked with my blue tooth but is my BT device problem it did pump enough volume to trigger the transistors will have to buy something that works. |
|
[2012-10-30] A Google User: Galaxy S3 and Nikon D80 I made the passive IR dongle and it works just as good add the Nikon remote. The HDR setting doesn't change exposure, but I didn't expect it to on the D80. I can use cam bracketing combined with the HDR or timer get HDR. In the auto modes the camera will focus and shoot. In any of the manual modes it does not focus first, it just shoots. Remember to set your camera to remote shooting! Great app! :-) |

[2012-10-19] A Google User: Not working on galaxy s3 The website says it does. But it doesn't. |

|
[2012-09-25] A Google User: Works so far! At a very basic level I tested the Cable S configuration between my Nexus S and my T2i. Both focus and shutter worked with simple test, but I still need to solder everything together. I would like to see a little more detail in the guide, but otherwise it was easy enough for me to follow. |
|
[2012-09-21] A Google User: Awesome! I used the passive method. Works well with Samsung Vibrant. However, not working with Toshiba Thrive, maybe I would need to do the active. Great features overall. Thank you and keep it up! |

[2012-09-18] A Google User: Samsung Galaxy Note + Canon 5D2 Great app but it has stopped working on my Galaxy Note after upgrading to Android 4.0.4. Was working fine with Gingerbread 3.6. I don't know if this could have anything to do with it though. The "S Cable" circuit is fine. |
|

[2012-07-22] A Google User: Outstanding! I have recently bought a sony nex 5n to go travelling with. The only real issue was that there is no option or port to allow me to do star trails or time scapes etc. Now I can! Plus its easy to make and cost me about 4 quid at maplin! I would have happily paid for this app, thqnks developer! |

[2012-06-30] A Google User: 600d & motorola triumph The IR emitter doesn't work when I use it with my motorola triumph. However it works perfectly with my ipod touch and another dslr app. I assumethe problem comes from the triumph. |

[2012-04-14] A Google User: Only for pentax Only for pentax |
|
[2012-04-05] A Google User: love the idea, will try later after making the cable |
|
[2012-04-01] A Google User: Works with nikon d5100 and galaxy s The app works with the d5100 and a samsung galaxy s. Too bad the nikon does not support more functions like the panasonic does. Still have to figure out the hdr setting, seems to take only one normal picture.... |
|

[2012-01-14] A Google User: Awesome! Works like a dream on xperia arc/canon 550d combination. Opto coupler cable alone, as well as connected to a stereo bluetooth headset |
|
[2012-01-04] A Google User: Everything works but HDR for me I have an EVO 4G and a T3i and this app works pretty well with the IR dongle I made. The only problem I'm having is when trying to shoot HDR, all my shots have the same exposure settings. For those of you with the T3i (and I assume other EOS cameras), in order for your camera to accept the IR commands you have to change the shooting mode to the one with the remote icon, it took me a while to figure that out. |
|
[2011-12-26] A Google User: Works as advertised! Remote works well. Made the IR dongle using the instructions (don't let it get too hot with the soldering iron- damage LEDs). Remote feature works well with a Nikon D90. Canon 40D doesn't have IR receiver so it won't work. Really looking forward to making good use of it with my Motorola Droid (original). The other features besides the shutter remote don't work however (thus only 4 stars). |
|
[2011-12-18] A Google User: As the guys before me posted... Doesent do anything! Or we don't know how to operate it? Developer,Can u give us some ointers how to connect to DSLR? |

[2011-12-03] A Google User: . V v v poor |
|
[2011-11-29] A Google User: Useless on Canon Doesn't do anything on Canon 600 d at all. |
|
[2011-11-23] A Google User: Doesn't work for me on EVO or thrive by cable. I have rebel t3. Obviously one of these products isn't supported. |
|
[2011-11-17] A Google User: Not working Though camera showing as connected, nothing happening. Gallexy s2 |
