Evolution Live Wallpaper (v. 1.1) Разработано Jay Zhang |
The Evolution Live Wallpaper turns each pixel of your Android background into a living organism! It uses a genetic algorithm to simulate the "evolution" of these pixels (or cells), using their colour as their traits for selection.
The wallpaper starts out initially as a multi-coloured grid. Over time, this grid will slowly transform (i.e. evolve) into a single colour (or close to that colour). By interacting with your phone, you can change the optimal colour and watch as the cells eventually evolve to that colour all over again!
Here's the nitty-gritty of the algorithm (for those that are interested):
Each pixel square simulates an individual, replicating cell. Cells replicate asexually, but not perfectly (i.e. they mutate).
The cell's traits are defined by its colour -- specifically, its red, green and blue values. These traits are used to calculate each cell's "fitness" score, using an optimal colour value (see below) as reference. This fitness value determines the cell's reproduction rate, and thus its survivability in the environment.
An "optimal" colour is defined based on a variety of parameters (by default, red is defined by the amount you touch your background, green is based on local time, and green is based on your phone's current battery level).

[2012-12-10] A Google User: Nice try Evolution rules. |
[2012-10-18] A Google User: Interesting and cool concept... But visually, meh... |
[2012-08-02] A Google User: Brilliantly geeky! My only improvement would be a more detailed explanation and user interface. Its still brilliant as it is! |
[2012-07-19] A Google User: Mindblowing This is the most fascinating thing related to evolution that I've seen in a while. Never thought I could watch my own "population" evolve while laying on the couch. |
[2012-06-20] A Google User: Ok It works fine on 2.3.5 but it needs some work, make them evolve into something better. |

[2012-05-23] A Google User: Absolute garbage. Not worth the time. Simply boring. |
[2012-03-26] A Google User: Nifty concept "High" cpu usage for a wall... still less than some background apps |
[2012-03-13] A Google User: Idea is interesting, but it doesn't look beautiful. |
[2012-03-04] A Google User: Great, but the description lists green as optimal for both battery life and local time. Which is which? |
[2012-02-04] A Google User: Sucks big time |
[2012-01-23] A Google User: I like it! Its a very cool app! I like the idea of cells and evolution. I would like it to be slower, not the refresh rate, but the evolution speed...I mean: I set it as backround and in 10 seconds I have most of the screen covered by blu-ish cells |
