[2012-11-13] mark: It constantly flickers I expect its due to the ads refreshing, but trying to read an.article when its flickering constanlty is hard on the eyes! Fail and uninstall |
[2012-11-13] Raff: Super Sweet! Just a great app for a great paper. Not just for teachers ans vegetarians. Sport is fantastic. |
[2012-11-13] Olivier: Not amazing but one of the best UK news app Quite nice but a bit basic, no flicking to the next article, no pinch to zoom, no app2sd, it doesn't do justice to the content ... Room to improve |
[2012-11-12] Ewan: Very good Does its job well especially after the recent update |
[2012-11-12] Simon: Glitches This still doesn't work! Aaargh! The football section has stopped updating. Boo! I've emailed as they asked but still nothing! |
[2012-11-12] Poopsyplops: Used to be great, now favourites dont work Whenever I select a favourite, whether a writer or a topic, it just goes black and throws me out. Not ideal. |
[2012-11-11] Beats: Add Widget and Remove add Shame about no widgets and the advert at the bottom. Would be great otherwise. Have an option for a paid app without add as it ruins it for me but I love the gaurdian and what it stands for |
[2012-11-11] Ceejay: Good, not great! Terrible icon though, deserves better! For some reason the unofficial versions of this have a more official looking icon than this official product! This app has limited options but decent navigation. It can do with a darker theme other than the standard battery draining white background, even a basic inverse option of white fonts on black backgrounds would help. The IMDb app on the Nexus 7 seems to be the only ones who get it! |
[2012-11-11] Miss TT: Don't bother Your typical left-wing socialist garbage. |
[2012-11-11] saisundar: Gone insane after the update I use this app mainly for its offline reading abilities.. Now when I go into a section its just loading all the time, even on wifi. I can't read all the sections online, forget offline.. Please do something quick. I love the football articles here.. |
[2012-11-11] Manfrey: Perfect I tried numerous guardian apps. This is easily the best. Manages to package all the content you get on the website into a stylish and remarkably simple design. Couldn't ask for better. |
[2012-11-11] Tom: Ruined by update! No longer loads up various sections. For example, sport can be accessed without any problems, but clicking on a particular sport section causes the app to say 'loading' for...forever! Sort it out cos its excellent otherwise! |
[2012-11-11] Jamie: Since New update... Downloading content hangs and I have to kill the task. This never used to happen... Desire HD |
[2012-11-10] amit: Do not update! Latest update totally bricks this app (on HTC sensation). Slow load times, frequent crashes, and increased data use make this pretty rubbish - now using the website instead. Also, when are they going to get comments for app? Only thing worth reading most days! |
[2012-11-10] Dan: Certain sections inaccessible from homepage I love the guardian app because it allows me to see the latest news from even obscure sections (Marine life and Oceans in my case) on a customised homepage. This latest update has meant that I now have to click into those sections rather than downloading all of the latest headlines at once. Please change it back! |
[2012-11-09] the 11/9/2012 Easy to use Simple and to the point |
[2012-11-09] Ian: Doesn't work since update. No pages will load, I listen to the football podcasts, well I did, even via 2 different connections I'm stuck waiting for the page to load for a long time. Really not impressed. |
[2012-11-08] Alex: Buggy New version buggy, keeps zooming in on text when scrolling, very annoying. |
[2012-11-08] Jaime Nicolas: Another update needed The app has lost two stars after thier update... It looks nicer, sleeker but its slower and some of the features just don't work. |
[2012-11-08] James: Recent update ruined it I've been using this since I got my s2 and it has been flawless. Since the update it's buggy and regularly crashes. As I read it it changes the font size, often moving me back to the start of the article I'm reading. Updating content has slowed to see crawl, too. Please revert til you get this version fixed. |
[2012-11-08] James: 5 stars all the way. World renowned journalism in an excellent app with a good UI, and free too! How anyone can give this less than 5 stars is beyond me even if it doesn't have a night reading mode |
[2012-11-08] Tomohiko: All good Problems encountered after new update has resolved itself. All good. |
[2012-11-08] Jason: Excellent app Best newspaper in the world. I vote for adding night reading mode. |
[2012-11-08] John: Hmmmm New version buggy. Constantly refreshing, taking me back to start of article, lags. Not as smooth as previously. A step backwards. Smallest text size is MASSIVE! |
[2012-11-07] Jamz: Desire Hd Works well, ads are fine as long as the news stays free! |
[2012-11-07] Tom: Latest version is buggy The older version if the app just worked..with this new one the content often fails to refresh. |
[2012-11-07] Neil: Bah humbug Doesn't work, can't download or update content. |
[2012-11-07] Barbara: Broken Doesn't work on Nexus 7. Get blank screen & constant loading. |
[2012-11-07] Fredrik: Poor Was great before v2 now it is full of bugs! Pls fix |
[2012-11-07] Kerry: New update will not load. New update will not load content, just have a blank screen. Pls fix, this was one of my favourite apps. |
[2012-11-07] Kevin: Better than ever Working again, great to see the Guardian responding to comments |
[2012-11-07] Pete: Won't download content. Now working again. |
[2012-11-06] Lam: Nothing short of Excellent! Works even w ultra low data connectivity. Bravo! |
[2012-11-06] DaveK: Annoying text re-sizing Text re-sizes and will not reset without restarting the app. Still no comments. |
[2012-11-06] norflondon: :( no notes and queries :( N &Q = 5* |
[2012-11-06] Bidders: Good not great Food and drink section hasn't displayed correctly for the last couple of versions. Still no comments. It's still a good app but it's not great. |
[2012-11-06] k: Won't load up any favourites. Doesn't work on my HTC one x. Doesn't load up any content bar the home page. |
[2012-11-06] carlengerer: Good job! I'm always reading the guardian on the train, I have flip it and engadget installed but are useless without reception. The guardian always works and makes me a happy man! |
[2012-11-06] Mike: Major bug Nice app but it keeps uninstalling itself. That said, it's pretty usless. |
[2012-11-06] Dave: Not bad but no comments. It works well enough, and it's good to be able to download stuff overnight, but the lack of comments or ability to log in with Guardian account is frustrating. Even a link to the same article on the website (as the Facebook app does) would help. |
[2012-11-06] Filip: Ok i guess But not being able to read comments is a major minus. |
[2012-11-06] Martin: Great interface Easy to catch up with all news stories. |
[2012-11-06] Clangnuts: It all now works! Now it's working as intended, I've no problem giving this app 5 stars. :-) |
[2012-11-06] osama: why..WHY !! why do you have add's in international widely known new's app , i mean honestly that's soo low in beyond limits !!! |
[2012-11-06] Garethbjenkins: News! It's news in an app. Nice colours. |
[2012-11-06] Felicity: Good but videos not working Good app and used to work well, but since recent updates video content has stopped working. |
[2012-11-06] Jon: Shame about the text size... The new MASSIVE text makes reading articles laborious. Shame. The articles are still brilliant though! |
[2012-11-05] Adrian: A Step Backwards This version has many bugs. Related links don't work, content download doesn't work, text is easy to accidentally resize and difficult to get back. Adverts are now more obtrusive. All that great content now feels less accessible. |
[2012-11-05] the 11/5/2012 Links no longer work. Used to love this app, now the related links at the bottom of each article fires not work. I have Samsung GALAXY S2. |
[2012-11-05] Alzar Gobthrottle: Good after last update The latest update really brings this app up to speed with other android apps. No longer feels or looks clumsy; now smooth and sleek with good integration with ICS. Also fixed the 'no images' problem a lot of people were having. Definitely a much-needed improvement. |
[2012-11-05] Ben: Action bar Great app very clean design and fun to navigate but where is this action bar? I was hoping the comments were going to make an appearance but I'm struggling to find them |
[2012-11-05] Andrew: Keep up the good work! App keeps getting better with each release. |
[2012-11-05] mark: Excellent Great |
[2012-11-05] Neil: No.1 Brilliant app say no more |
[2012-11-05] the 11/5/2012 Simple, quick & classy design Oh, and the content isn't too bad either. Related articles now fixed, now I can begin to enjoy this app, many thanks. |
[2012-11-05] BigNick: Still needs work Hasn't fixed the no images problem contrary to the previous reviewer. Using One X |
[2012-11-05] Robert: Thanks, nearly there! Thank you for the quick update, and the message to say it was available! This gets 4.5. Just need to sort out main index topics which refer to subjects not in main site index. |
[2012-11-05] Robert: Pretty good, but does 'wink out'on sub-sections Nice, clean interface, and sorting home screen to your preference works well. But sometimes it 'winks out' (not crash as it will return to home page) when you select a sub-section. Good way to get tailored Guardian content. |
[2012-11-05] Philip: The best app on my phone! Probably the best news source in the world. It has everything you need including an offline mode as well as football news/results |
[2012-11-05] David: Very good a few tweaks needed Ability to swap the white background to a black one when reading, like the kindle app, would be great and reduce eye strain. Also I'd pay for this app to make it add free, especially if you threw in quick crossword ;) |
[2012-11-05] Benedict: Great app Best news app I've used so far.only improvement would be a home screen widget |
[2012-11-05] Dan: Better with the new ui Please let us see comments in the app |
[2012-11-05] Alex: Good, but doesn't work properly on Motorola phones One of the finest newspaper apps available for android. |
[2012-11-05] James: Stupid update Since update WILL NOT OPEN!!! Great app ruined. Xperia X10 |
[2012-11-04] robw91: Ics menu bar Better |
[2012-11-04] Sean: Poor update Glitchy, freezing, some pages won't open at all. Smallest text size is too large, this is a poor update. |
[2012-11-04] Luke: Easy & Intuitive Does what it says - no fuss delivery of Guardian content with unobtrusive adds. Solid job. |
[2012-11-04] Alex: Many articles are blank since the update :< |
[2012-11-04] Bruce: Superb Latest update is a very nice refinement. The action bar works well, and fonts look very clean with sizing working well on One X. |
[2012-11-04] Richard: Good, could be better Positive changes. Suggestion: I have selected Top Stories, UK News, and Politics as my first three sections. Unfortunately most of the stories appear in at least two of these sections, and duplicates are not suppressed on the homepage, which is exceedingly annoying. Please fix |
[2012-11-04] Hendrik: Great content - annoying ads The content is great and the app is well made (except missing comments) but please make a paying ad-free version as they are really annoying! |
[2012-11-04] Louise: It was 5 stars before the recent update, but now the links at the bottom of the pages don't work. Please resolve so it can go back to 5 stars. The recent upgrade means none of the links work. Same issue with several phones-Galaxy S2 on icecream sandwich and xperia play on gingerbread. Please resolve! |
[2012-11-04] Paulo: Search Could do with a search function. |
[2012-11-04] adrian.rocks: Matches not being able to remove or edit upcoming football matches is annoying. It never even shows English matches - since update the football section can't be expanded |
[2012-11-04] Greg: Great app! I hated the reading Guardian with mobile browser since the sport section takes up one third of the screen. Finally with the app I can edit what's on the main page. Well done! Nice interface! |
[2012-11-04] Joel: ad-free version please? Recent update is a big improvement - smooth and practical. The ads are a problem though: perhaps introduce a paid version? I'd buy it. |
[2012-11-03] Richard: The best UK newspaper application Not actually a Guardian reader but this is the best newspaper application I've found. |
[2012-11-03] John: Hate The Advertising Bar The Advertising bar spoils an otherwise fantastic app. |
[2012-11-03] Robert: Great but still room for improvement A great app, providing content from the Guardian in a clear, customisable and easy to navigate way. I'd like to see an optional, subscription-based version without the advert (the Guardian is worth paying for) and for article comments and the ability to comment to be added. Also I don't see why the structure cannot mimmick the structure of the actual paper. So lots of room for improvement but this is a great app regardless. And getting access to the Guardian for the price of a small advert is a steal. |
[2012-11-03] the 11/3/2012 Text can't go that small anymore... I used to love this app, and probably still do. But this new update has changed how you resize the text and prevents it going that small....how I used to like it. Now it looks like a kids book even on the smallest setting :( please allow the text to go smaller. |
[2012-11-03] Dave Robinson: Ok but... Please make the app better and replace the irritating animated advertisements with a paid subscription option. |
[2012-11-03] Andy: Still no support for comments |
[2012-11-03] Charlie: enjoyable news app always full of interesting articles i uee this app all the time |
[2012-11-03] Tone: No tablet edition? I want to give you money for a digital edition of the newspaper, where is it?! |
[2012-11-03] colind: 'Related subjects' doesn't work On SGS2 clicking a related subjects link at the bottom of an article does nothing. And where/what is the 'action bar' ? |
[2012-11-03] Tom: Was great, now broken Please fix! |
[2012-11-03] Richard: Excellent update Ignore the people saying you can't resize text, there's no action bar or related subjects doesn't work. They all function exactly as described on the 'what's new' page that popped up on first start. Guess the lesson for the whingers is RTFM! |
[2012-11-03] Michael: Can't download content App was great, but can't download content anymore. |
[2012-11-03] Steve: Not impressed with in-your-face adverts An Advert ise positioned directly next to the Nexus 7 Tablet control bar, so you can inadvertantly click on an advert. Once you make this mistake the advert goes large and off center. The only way to clear the advert is to refresh the whole APP content. The poor user experience did not endear me to either the Guardian or E-on the advertiser. |
[2012-11-03] David: Where's the action bar? Recently updated and so far, so good. It's definate improvement, especially the shortcut buttons making navigation easier. My only issue is that the action bar is missing, which seems odd as its one of the new features. |
[2012-11-03] Carlo: Very good Updated UI finally up to scratch with newer versions of android on smartphones. Just needs different UI for tablets to be 5 stars. |
[2012-11-03] patrice58: Nice update. I really like what has been done. The fresh new look is excellent. |
[2012-11-03] Fuji: Major flaws Related subject links do not work. Cannot see comments in CIF section let alone make a comment |
[2012-11-03] Unlikely Moniker: Not quite right On SGS2 the options button only appears in landscape rotation. |
[2012-11-03] daniel: Best news app With the recent update the Guardian app is fast, easy to navigate and looks great |
[2012-11-03] James: Flickering neon! Whilst I realize there is a need to monetise free apps it seems the only improvement in the latest version is to make the ads even more annoying. It's nigh on impossible to read an article with those flashing banners at the bottom. |
