[2013-08-10] A Google User: Completely biased I used to really like this publication, but it's become completely liberal without any opposing viewpoints, which would actually make it unbiased. The last straw is their decision to boycott the Redskins name. This is definitely PC run amok. |
[2013-08-05] A Google User: Loses articles when switching tasks |
[2013-08-03] A Google User: Great for words, terrible for pictures If you only want to read the articles but don't care about related images, charts, or videos then this app is great. |
[2013-07-31] A Google User: Not compatible with new Nexus 7 Not compatible with new devices, which is sad because I like the articles in this app |
[2013-07-14] A Google User: Great Content / Annoying Glitch Please fix this glitch that opens to a dead link before I can read each article. |
[2013-07-11] A Google User: Does not work They fixed the pop-up issue, but now you can only read two articles from any given section and the rest don't load. Useless. |
[2013-07-02] A Google User: No matching ads ruins aoo Love Slate, but this "no matching ad" issue which Slate is do doubt aware of but doesn't seem able to fix (or maybe everyone in slateworld uses iphones?) Is really tiresome. Basically every time you click on an article it launches a new browser window that says "no matching ad". I am deleting this app off my phone and I encourage users to avoid downloading it until slate can fix it. |
[2013-06-19] A Google User: How do you share? My phone has a menu button which allowed me to share stories. The tab doesnt. How does one share then? |
[2013-06-10] A Google User: Terrible This app is a major disappointment. The Slatest section never loads correctly (always only two stories), if you leave the app and come back later it inevitably can't find your article and redirects you away, and most of the media embedded in the stories online is either broken or gone in this app. It's a travesty because I love Slate so much! High quality content, but surprisingly low quality app. |
[2013-06-05] A Google User: Good app It works well, but would earn five stars if I could install on my sd card rather than my phone. I also wish content was more readily found after having been posted on fb. |
[2013-06-03] A Google User: Seriously Awful Slatest page doesn't load. Articles have no links to media from articles. Frustrating to use. |
[2013-05-09] A Google User: Love the articles, hate the "no matching ad" Please plese fix this. I want to read Slate but the constant redirect to a broken link is just awful. |
[2013-04-29] A Google User: Scrolling response is terrible I have the fastest phone and scrolling is like it's stuck in quick sand. Get a new developer Slate. |
[2013-04-26] A Google User: Meh. Pop up ad absolutely drives me nuts; especially since it doesn't actually show an ad! |
[2013-04-25] A Google User: Awesome Great for getting quick update |
[2013-04-25] A Google User: Poor Very poor offline performance - articles saved for offline reading seem to disappear after a couple of days. |
[2013-04-19] A Google User: Update fixed broken page issue Much better-- thanks. |
[2013-04-18] A Google User: Terrible ad system I cant read anything without my browser opening up a dozen times. Uninstalled. |
[2013-04-13] A Google User: Finally got it right The app is finally working again, and it's back to being useful and satisfying. |
[2013-04-12] A Google User: Font too small. Great content, but the app needs to offer more font size choices (using an ipad mini). Also, I'm not seeing a way to search for a particular story. |
[2013-04-10] A Google User: Asks too much info This app asks for all my network data including the network I'm connected to and network available to me, phone data such as who I call and who me, etc. This is a lot more than what they need. Too much. I'm uninstalling. |
[2013-03-30] A Google User: ABSOLUTE MUST!!ADD PUSH NOTIFICATIONS AND APPS2SD! ANYBODY WHO WANTS KINDA FAR LEFT SPIN/PERSPECTIVE/SOCIALIST TAKE (I DONT LIKE THAT TAKE AT ALL,BUT ITS A GOOD HABIT TO EXAMINE THE SAME STORY FROM VARIOUS POINT OF VIEWS)...THIS IS UR APP! |
[2013-03-27] A Google User: Love Slate but ... Every time I open an article, my browser tries to open a 'no matching ad' page. I am currently running Jellybean (v 4.1.2) on Droid Razr Maxx. Other than this, the app works great. |
[2013-03-25] A Google User: no problems I use a Samsung galaxy s2. I've never had any problems using this since I downloaded it a year ago |
[2013-03-20] A Google User: Awesome articles, needs better layout I've recently started reading and have gotten hooked on slate. They have great articles and are one of the most reasonable/impartial sources I have found. The app itself needs a better design and functionality so hopefully they get there soon |
[2013-03-18] A Google User: Doesn't work on Nexus 7 |
[2013-03-17] A Google User: My God they made it worse! Used to be every article launched pop up. Now that's stopped things are worse. Articles just get cut off at the bottom of the screen. |
[2013-03-15] A Google User: Pop-ups SUCK. Every, single page pushes you to an ad page. Ugh. |
[2013-03-15] A Google User: Thanks for fixing ad issue. |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: Slate Good reading! |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: Only one page? Thank goodness the empty ad popup issue is fixed, but every article only has one page worth of text. The slate mobile website has more content AND entire articles, not just teasers. |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: Fixed bug but no comments They just fixed the "no matching ad" bug, which makes using this app a lot more pleasant. However, you can't read or post comments, which is half of what I do on the real site. |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: FIXED - http://__no_matching_ad__ Thank you for fixing this issue..... Was a great app, but heading downhill. Upon launch and any article that I access, browser auto loads to an invalid advertising site. Hate to consider removing your app. |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: A great update The old version was buggy, but the new version works great. No more problems! I would not hesitate recommending this ap to any Slate lover. |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: Love the site but The news aggregation apps are leaps ahead of the site specific apps. Wish there was a way to give better ad support to content creators in the news reader apps. |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: Why start at boot I don't get it why does the app have to start at boot? Couldn't this be an optional behavior for certain needed uses? |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: Nice app Perfect for a Slate reader on the go. |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: Good enough |
[2013-03-12] A Google User: Slate At times unworkable, always slow. Android version nothing like PC version, which is great. |
[2013-03-11] A Google User: Pop Ups Each time I try to read an article on this app, either on my phone or tablet a new blank web page opens. I then have to switch over to the open apps and select the slate app again. I'm using Android 4.1 on both devices. |
[2013-03-11] A Google User: Pop ups ruining the app The website is so much better! |
[2013-03-10] A Google User: Broken Ad System A broken ad footer means that every page refresh leads to the system browser launching an empty page. That makes the experience of using the app quite frustrating. |
[2013-03-10] A Google User: Buggy and slow Now it keeps opening pop up ads... |
[2013-03-10] A Google User: Ads fail Last update tried to insert pop up ads and now blank pages load every time a story loads. |
[2013-03-09] A Google User: Unbelievable How is it possible that they haven't fixed the no matching ad pop-up yet? This app should never have been released with such a glaring UX bug |
[2013-03-09] A Google User: Fine Until the pop up ups began. I just use it for Dear Prudence. So great for that. |
[2013-03-09] A Google User: No matching ad This is a super annoying problem that makes the app almost unusable. Love Slate, but this can't be a tough fix. |
[2013-03-09] A Google User: No matching ad problem Every time I launch the app or open an article, it opens a browser and gives me a "no matching ad" error. |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: over a year with the broken pop up error? time to uninstall |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: No matching ad issue Un-usable. Each time it loads or I attempt to access an article it takes me to a blank web page. Fail! Motorola Droid Bionic |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Right now, astonishingly bad Every time - without exception - click on Slate and while it is loading your tablet will call up your browser to an ad site Chrome says doesn't exist. |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Too annoying to use Pop up window with no link stinks |
[2013-03-08] A Google User: Broken! Keep getting directed to a blank page. Totally useless. |
[2013-03-07] A Google User: Too bad Why are you trying to open my web browser every time I open an article? Uninstalled after one use. |
[2013-03-07] A Google User: Help! Fix the app. |
[2013-03-07] A Google User: Completely broken The whole no matching ad problem makes this essentially unusable. |
[2013-03-06] A Google User: Buggy, incomplete It's great that the app exists; I love Slate and enjoy it on my phone. Serious bugs: on my Galaxy S3, if an article can't load, I get repeated warning/info banners about it even when I'm not in the app at all - so it blocks the screens of other apps. That is totally nuts. Also, lately every article gets interrupted by a screen saying something about http://_no_matching_ad/ (something like that) for over a week now. Seriously? |
[2013-03-06] A Google User: Used to be good... App used to work just fine but a couple of weeks ago it stopped being usable. Now it constantly opens a broken ad link. Needs to be fixed. |
[2013-03-06] A Google User: Great content crappy technology Same issue as most others. Issue w ad server means always getting the no matching ad error. I see it has been going on for weeks with no response from Slate? PITIFUL. Samsung Galaxy Note 2. |
[2013-03-06] A Google User: Broken app! The editorial staff of Slate should turn its excellent critical eye to its broken app. A failed attempt to insert pop-ups makes every attempt to read an article a trip to an empty browser window. (Nexus 7) |
[2013-03-06] A Google User: Slate Like the content and depth of articles and the read later feature but have had three no message ad for the last few weeks. Have uninstalled and reinstalled x2. Uninstalling for now. Will check back to see if the bug has been fixed. |
[2013-03-05] A Google User: Broken by greed Every launch spawns broken Web page. Time to remove from phone. |
[2013-03-04] A Google User: No matching ad Every time I open ANYTHING, chrome opens with "no matching ad". This is so annoying. Had it for 1 minute....deleted. |
[2013-03-04] A Google User: No matching ad issue |
[2013-03-04] A Google User: update broke the app i second/third, etc... now every article pops to browser, with no side ad found. fix it please! |
[2013-03-04] A Google User: No matching ad I too am getting taken to a new browser window with the message 'no matching ad' every time I open the app or new article. Please fix! |
[2013-03-03] A Google User: No matching ad What everyone else said. VERY annoying. |
[2013-03-03] A Google User: Won't fix obvious bug. Unusable Launches browser and new empty pane every time a link is touched. |
[2013-03-03] A Google User: Amazing amount of content All types. Find anything newsworthy here. |
[2013-03-02] A Google User: No Matching Ad issue I'm a HTC Sensation XE user. Why is it every time I open the app or try to open a new article, it'd open my web browser and try to bring up a webpage? It'd be blank and say No Matching Ad...otherwise great articles and interface, pls fix this!! |
[2013-03-02] A Google User: No matching ad App spontaneously broke; every time I try to load an article, it pops open my Web browser with an error page for "no matching ad". Extremely annoying, stops me from using app. |
[2013-02-28] A Google User: Please fix this! Great app before about a week ago when it started sending you to some odd web page every time you try to read an article. Great content on this site, but the app is broken. |
[2013-02-28] A Google User: Very annoying bug When I open the app, and every time I click on a story within the app, it automatically redirects to my web browser and tries to open a non-existent URL. It's easy enough to go back and read what I wanted to read in the first place, but it's pretty annoying to get redirected repeatedly. |
[2013-02-27] A Google User: Ad popups broken...grrr Fix pop up ads bug! Ill pay for ad free. Slate has lower quality app than ny post...who'd a thunk it ? |
[2013-02-27] A Google User: Annoying pop up ruins this app I used to use this app daily. Now that it opens a broken ad pop up on every article, I sadly must trash it. Too much to read other places than deal with this huge annoyance. Will still read Slate on the Web. |
[2013-02-26] A Google User: Popup with every click! Every article you click on causes a browser popup that says _no matching ad_. Good content, but that's all available on the website. The app is just annoying now. |
[2013-02-26] A Google User: New update and no matching ad pop up How do I fix this!!! Every time I open an article or the ap itself a webpage opens up saying no matching ad!! |
[2013-02-26] A Google User: Annoying popups Galaxy Note 2; I have used this app for several months now and in the last few weeks have been having broken popups every time I open a new article, the app will redirect to my browser which then opens a broken web page; really cumbersome to have to hit back on every article just to read. Can't recommend app until this redirect is removed |
[2013-02-26] A Google User: Stale Creates pop ups that open a browser to "no matching ad" which then crash android forcing a reboot. Used to work fine. |
[2013-02-26] A Google User: Uninstalling for Now I'm suddenly getting a no matching ads error opening in my browser, so I'm going to use Slate's mobile site for now. |
[2013-02-25] A Google User: Terrible app Love the content, hate the app. It breaks frequently and won't stay updated properly. |
[2013-02-24] A Google User: Fix the app please Redirecting to blank web page since last update. Anyone on this? |
[2013-02-24] A Google User: App now brings up pop ups The app just started bringing a blank ad page every time I open it or go to a new article. There seems to be a bug in.the app. |
[2013-02-23] A Google User: Was great until last update... ...now it attempts to open up a pop-up ad every single time i open a new story, back up, or even open the app itself. Was a 4-star app before the update. |
[2013-02-23] A Google User: Click anything and the app opens Chrome Click anything and the app opens Chrome. URL: http://__no_matching_ad__ Please email me when you update the app so I can remove the review, thanks. I'm connected to WiFi or a cell tower when it happens |
[2013-02-22] A Google User: 4.2.2 android update ruined slate After the new 4.2.2 update, whenever I open slate, it also opens a pop up directing me to http://__no_matching_ad__ |
[2013-02-22] A Google User: It was 5 stars before The new update is driving me nuts. Everytime I open an article a blank pop up opens and I have to back out of it. Please fix. |
[2013-02-22] A Google User: Busted app for a great magazine This week the app suddenly started kicking me to a blank web page every time I either launch the app or click an article. I love my Slate but the app is busted and no one seems to be paying attention |
[2013-02-22] A Google User: Android 4.2.2 ruined Slate app I have the same problem as others... Every time you load Slate, or any page in Slate, it loads as browser window which says"no matching add." I'm uninstalling it for now, hoping they get it fixed soon. |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Seriously? Ancient content in a lackluster app. This app would be better if the content was not so old and displayed in an interesting way. Having the podcasts in-app is a plus however, there is just not enough of them, |
[2013-02-10] A Google User: The best free news msgazine Their srticles are crisp, insightful and easy to read. You get some of the best information snd analysis. You will not regret it. And it is free. |
[2013-02-03] A Google User: So. Slow. The painfully slow loading time and inability to read articles off line make this app almost unusable. |
[2012-12-28] A Google User: Works perfect |
[2012-12-23] A Google User: no problems here I have no problems with this at all, so I can't see what people here are going on about, to be honest. |
[2012-11-19] A Google User: Freezes Last update freezes app. Samsung Galaxy II |
[2012-11-18] A Google User: Poor content Very poor content. |
[2012-11-16] A Google User: Annoying |
[2012-11-04] A Google User: Meh This app sports a dated visual style from a previous Android era, and no search functionality. Weak. |
[2012-11-01] A Google User: Underwhelming A big disappointment for a magazine/website I visit daily. Nothing is dynamic on this most likely will end up uninstalling. |
[2012-10-25] A Google User: Bias!! Should be taken seriously... |
