[2012-06-10] Dirk: Promising, but... can`t download Belgian newspapers in Belgium. please explain that! |
[2012-06-08] Sebastian: pre-installed bloat that I cannot remove I don't use this reader for HONEYCOMB (2.3.xx) that came pre-installed on my ICE CREAM SANDWICH (4.xx) tablet, and I cannot remove it without rooting. lame. |
[2012-06-04] Chris: Hmm... Forgot to mention in the description that this is a free trial, after a day its 8 bucks for a month then after that $30/month!!! Waste of time to even look no matter how nice it is. |
[2012-05-24] Graham: No no no. Make this optional. |
[2012-05-24] pdah: Doesn't work Take forever to load when I tap on the news title. |
[2012-05-19] Layne Connor: What happened? Latest update is horrible. This used to work great on my tab 10.1. Now it is slow, pictures don't show up or disappear. Even text doesn't show up sometimes. Please fix! |
[2012-05-05] Angelo: Awfully update This app worked great but sucks since the latest update. It doesn't even deserve a state. Worst part, download takes forever and wifi continues to cut. BAD DECISION.....and you'd think someone would test the update before messing it up...... |
[2012-04-30] the 5/5/2012 Was good. Not anymore The latest version is terrible on Acer iconia tab. The smart flow brings no added benefit and actually hogs screen space. Please bring back the previous version or I will be looking for another app to read the paper. |
[2012-04-25] MovedByWillAlone: It was better before I like the service, but the added forced flow mode on this new version is horrible and the interface is laggy. I want to click the article and see just that in it entirety, not go in to flow mode. That's what viewing the newspaper pages are for. I loved the old interface for text mode and this update made it crap. |
[2012-04-23] gazconroy: Like this Works as you'd expect. The odd bit of lag/unresponsiveness but a very good app |
[2012-04-22] Dave©: Latest version terrible What have you guys done to a great app?????? |
[2012-04-21] Jeff: Bloatware Can't uninstall. $500 wasn't enough to make a profit? Asus had to rivet this thing to my tablet. Thanks! |
[2012-04-20] Stephane: New update Installed flawlessly on Xoom 3.2 Faster rendering on page flips and basic reading. New smartflow feature needs some getting used to but will give it a try although the rendering on that part seems a tad slow. Good update |
[2012-04-11] Keith: Don't use Don't use it, can't uninstall it |
[2012-03-30] the 4/5/2012 Transformer Prime Cannot uninstall... |
[2012-03-26] Colin: Another piece of CRAP bloatware Pre-installed on eeepad prime, incompatible with the OS and UNINSTALLABLE. What moron thought that one up, Mr Asus??? |
[2012-03-25] yven anton: Sucks I hope u have plans on releasing a version for ICS running devices |
[2012-03-19] William: Asus Transformer Prime Genuinely brilliant app. Really smooth performance, very quick at rendering pages, can even have the app speak a story to you. Only suggestion would be to have the options (speech, text size etc) always present on the screen rather than hidden in the settings menu. |
[2012-03-18] Massi: Crashes all the time |
[2012-03-12] Jason: Very good Been using press reader for all my news needs. Had a small problem, sent an email to customer service and they worked with me throughout the night to resolve the issue... This product and the people behind it are top notch. If you like to read newspapers without getting your hands dirty then this is the app for you... |
[2012-03-11] Jason Lin: Need ICS support Please! |
[2012-03-05] Luis: Great news paper reader I would fix the store, interface to be more finger and tablet friendly. I really like the way it let's you browse the real print editions, and the way it displays the paper in the tablet, |
[2012-02-29] JD: Asus transformer tf101 Much better on my tf101, thanks to ics I was able to disable the other version on application settings and install this without having two of the same apps in the app drawer and without having to root. Much less force closes on this app so 5 stars! |
[2012-02-26] Burnsy: ICS? Came pre-installed on my ICS Asus TF201, free trial worked with loads of unable to connect errors and now I can't buy anything 'Error Issue Buying required' (or similar) no response from support. |
[2012-02-04] Eric: Absolutely Excellent Running on a Samsung 7 Plus Tablet and works very well. There were some initial bugs but once brought to the attention of the help desk they were promptly sorted out. Just log on and download your required paper and read offline as and when requires. Excellent and many thanks. Just what I was looking for. |
[2012-01-27] John: Excellent A much improved version to use on my Asus transformer tf101. |
[2012-01-27] David: Not bad when it actually connects to the server The older version of PressReader worked fine. The honeycomb version of this app is horrible. It worked yesterday when I installed it. Today I get cannot connect to server errors. Making this app totally useless. These guys should learn to test their products first before releasing them. Being that it's not a very complicated app. It shouldn't be too difficult to test and release a quallity app. |
[2012-01-27] Chris: Pointless to install Uninstalled because, on rhe transformer you cannot uninstall the old verios, so what is thepoint of having two versions of the same app? |
[2012-01-26] mark: Evo View 4G Excellent |
[2012-01-26] Selim: Excellent |
[2012-01-21] Michael: Conflict with ver 2.x EVO VIEW 4G w/Honeycomb OTA. Ver 2.x in ROM; cannot uninstall. Ver 3 won't run properly. Shows nothing; Force Close. |
[2012-01-19] mmathieum: To the devs: Get it together! If the app is only compatible with Honeycomb (Android 3.x), don't make it available for all devices running Android 2.2 and higher. You can filter the devices in the app Manifest or in the developer console. |
[2011-12-31] gehan: Its not working on the huawei média pad It does not show any issues. It shows only two options most recent and titles but you cannot do anything. |
[2011-12-28] John: What happened to paragraphs? When I read a single article in The Australian all paragraphs disappear & all I see is one ocean of text. Makes it very hard to read. I now know why someone invented paragraphs! Also when I zoom in on a page the entire page goes negative, the type gets shadows & the page is impossible to read. Reading on galaxy tab 10.1v. |
[2011-12-21] Robert Jan: Great app It is a great app, unfortunately not many Dutch newspapers listed (yet), but I have asked one of those newspapers (de Telegraaf) directly why, and they say the contents of the newspaper being downloaded and read offline is not allowed by some law in Holland, it will change sooner or later. I do often buy Thai newspapers and they cost 0.79 cents per edition. It is the digital version of the newspaper that you buy. |
[2011-11-28] Moe: Its not free Who is going to pay $30 a month for this? If it was something like $2 or $3 I can understand, but $30 is just a highway robbery in my own humble opinion. |
[2011-11-15] Michael: Fantastic Not much else to say other than superb. |
[2011-11-14] D: Better than non-honeycomb version Zooming feels smoother though there is still the issue of fonts scaling. The look is more polished and pretty. A nice app just got nicer. |
[2011-11-03] Nilushan: Great app, but better zoom needed This is a great app for reading newspapers. The UIs are great. The desktop version of PressReader can zoom to great level and the fonts are clear. In Honeycomb version the fonts zoom only up to the default tapped zoom level. When zoomed more, the fonts are not clear. If zoom in to more levels can make fonts clear would be excellent. |
[2011-10-23] Matthew: Awesonme app for news junkies! Quick feedback, great selection, much preferred to websites. Perfect for tablets! |
[2011-10-12] Kai: Nice to see a HC specific version! Liking the honeycomb specific version.. Would have preferred a combined version so that I don't have 2 versions installed on my device (at least until the HC version becomes the one preinstalled). I loved PressReader on my phone, and love it just as much on my tablet. Not a fan of the web version, but it does the job. |
[2011-10-06] Werner: Love it but... ... why does auto delivery of subscribed titles not work. I always have to go to store and select my subscriptions manually one by one. |
[2011-09-29] Will: Brilliant app! I think this is hands down the best quality news programme. Full quality actual newspapers.. Just as if I picked it up off the stand anywhere in the world. Fantastic selection, price and implementation. Support newspapers and get the benefits of digital consumption! |
[2011-08-26] the 9/29/2011 Overall excellent This is one of the killer apps. I have given up purchasing a weekly newspaper on paper that I have been reading for 20 years. However there are problems on Asus Transformer after upgrade to HoneyComb 3.2. Since 3.2 the "page view" is screwed. Before 3.2 the page view filled the whole screen with newspaper page in portrait mode. No more, now the page is small and surrounded by black borders. Can't read anything without zooming in, didn't need that before. Please fix or add "fit width" zoom option. |
[2011-08-04] Poor: Ok but... Functionality is minimal losse precious screen space to display it's background... for a company that sell each copy 1$ this reader should be at least equivalent to the apple version. They even sell 1$ free newspaper like Metro... Fonctionne bien sous Honeycomb 3.2 Motorola Xoom @ chris... Work for a Canadian Account as well |
[2011-08-04] Kevin: Excellent This is an awesome app which works brilliantly on my Galaxy Tab. 10.1. For a very reasonable monthly subscription I get all my favourite UK papers delivered to my Tab every morning. Sorry cannot understand the negative reviews here as I have nothing but praise. Five stars!!!! |
[2011-08-03] Dominic: Great improvement ! Works perfectly on my Asus EEE Pad Transformer. Way better than the version that was shipped with my tablet. Newspaper Direct reads - and responds - to the feedback you leave using the in-app menu. Very pleased. |
[2011-08-02] Chris: Great! Incredible app. Just like reading a real paper. A little expensive, but not terrible. Only other complaint is that I wish it focused at a slightly farther distance. Motor Xoom 3.2 |
[2011-07-06] Chris: Fails to Install Tried to install on my Xoom from the market, comes back with a message saying 'The requested item cannot be found' Is this another app only available in the US! |
[2011-07-05] GarySargent: Is this supposed to work with the original Froyo Samsung Galaxy Tab? It mentions Android 2.2 in notes. Force closes on store and settings pages. |
