PNWQuakes (v. 1.0.3) Разработано Wayne Dyck |
Provides a desktop widget for monitoring earthquakes occurring in the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon). Currently displays the most recent five quakes. Automatically updates every 30 minutes. Battery usage is minimal.
We are long overdue for a mega earthquake and my hope is that this app will generate awareness to the number of microquakes which happen on a daily basis in both Washington and Oregon.
The raw data is provided from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN). Calculations are then done to report the nearest city to the earthquake. Micro earthquakes less than magnitude 1.7 need to be reviewed by an analyst before they are posted. That is why you might see no activity for a day or two and then several tremors will appear that occurred in the past.
Upcoming changes:
- Coming versions will offer more configurable options like update interval, number of earthquakes to display, notification of earthquakes and on how large of an earthquake to notify you.
- There will also be a Tsunami widget included in the next version or so, however, I'm still playing with it.
If you have any problems or suggestions please feel free to contact me.
