Good app, bad update The latest issue doesn't download. The app seems to have problems loading as well.

FORCE CLOSES And not only that, I lose my place every time the phone accidently switches from portrait mode to landscape. - LG Revolution

Crashes constantly It's a good app, except it crashes 2 out of three times I open it.

Recurrent Forced Close Issues on Both G-Tabs My husband and I both have Galaxy Tablets, the original 7 inch (gingerbread) and the 7 plus (honeycomb). National Review worked fine downloading issues until recently, now both are having issues with recurrent forced closures so issues can no longer be downloaded. Pity... My husband had been a print subscriber for over 20 years, and we switched to the digital version about two years ago. Had a number of problems with the digital version online, so when the app came out, we thought perhaps our prayers had been answered when things downloaded smoothly. The trouble is with support, which doesn't bode well for NR. If they wish to retain their subscribership, they really need to provide the needed support to fix this problem. **Edited to add that I also tried this on my Motorola Xoom (ICS), and was signed into the app already, so I could download issues. However, once I signed out, and then attempted to sign back in, I received the forced close message on this tablet as well. It appears the problem is in the sign in aspect of the app.**

Can't log in to download issues even though I'm a NR/Digital subscriber already. I love the magazine, but this app is disappointing. It frequently crashes if the screen orientation changes. If you switch to a task due to a notification, email for example, it's a crapshoot whether the app will crash when you return to it. I've had to reinstall multiple times because it stops refreshing the list of recent issues and crashes frequently on startup. There are also some glaring usability issues. The app doesn't always restore your previous state - ie: issue you're reading and article. W

Great value addition for NR digital subscribers It works wonderfully on my Kindle Fire (rooted so that I can use it primarily as an Android tablet)---and best of all, for NR digital subscribers like me, the Android platform access is already bought and paid for; I don't need to pay a dime more for the convenience of not having to struggle with PDF; on Amazon Store, they wanted to charge me for NR subscription through their store, separately from my existing NR digital subscription (caveat: the app itself here is fairly basic; in the last couple minutes I looked around, I couldn't find option to change font size, background color, etc.; still better than scrolling around with a PDF though). One thing I can't figure out: why isn't NR charging more for their digital subscription---and less for print subscription?

Needs Improvement Great idea, but less than great execution. Doesn't keep position. Loses position even when just rotating phone. Force close when accessing articles from menu. Add feature to mark which articles in magazine have been read.
[2012-03-04] Barclay:
Needs some work Crashes often. Doesn't list new issues reliably.
[2012-02-03] Joseph:
Jc As a NR paper subscriber, I don't feel that I should have to pay for something twice to enjoy the convenience of access via my phone.
[2012-01-14] John:
Can't purchase single issues I wanted to pick and choose my issues not subscribe but the option is false it doesn't work at all. gave a second star just cuz I love NR but disappointed in execution
