The Global Alert Network delivers hands free national traffic, AccuWeather.com weather alerts and Professional and College football scoring updates.

Enable Use wireless networks under the Location & security settings to optimize the life of your battery.

The service provides over 100 different types of weather advisories, watches and warnings.

Traffic alerts are also provided along with a range of community alerts such as amber alerts and local and state communications.

You can now pick your favorite College and Professional football teams to receive scoring alerts.

The service does not require any human interaction to receive and hear the alerts. You do not have to touch, look at or interact with the phone in any way. Once you run the application, traffic and weather alerts will be automatically broadcast through your hand held device. This will enable you to safely access significant traffic information in time to make important travel decisions.

No control of location Very obscure settings processes. Does not allow entry of location for traffic or weather and does not appear to use GPS.

Cannot save configuration The concept is great, but the execution blows. Need to configure alerts *every* time the phone is rebooted. I will miss you..

Background alert service killed LED notifications After upgrading to Gingerbread (2.3.3) on my R2D2, LED notifications completely stopped working. They didn't come back until I uninstalled GAN and did a soft reboot. Not a bad app otherwise; might try it again once GB's stable.

Needs to have more settings. It gives me the alerts but wish I could choose not to get audible ones at 3am for watches, but only warnings

There was a weather alert in my area that this app did not pick up, and I doubt it would pick up any traffic alerts either.

Not granular enough There are too many and repeated alerts. At this stage in its development this app is like the boy who cried wolf - there are just way too many and needless alerts that you start ignoring them. One example is ozone warnings; another is severe weather for a storm that has already passed. If the app is going to use GPS/LBS, I don't need an alert for a storm moving east away from me. There really needs to be a lot more thought put into alert data, notification level, user configuration, and preferences.
