How is this better than a web browser? It is slow, seems to offer no more features than the CBC web site, and isn't even stable (often unresponsive). Build something useful like a alerting system that searches for news I'm interested in, and then I'll reinstall.

Worst app I've ever used. I'm a CBC fan, so I'm really embarrassed at how horrible this is. They clearly aren't even trying to make a usable app. After many attempts they managed to get something that doesn't immediately crash on the most common phones. Now that I can run it I can see that it is still the worst app I've seen - just a wrapper around the web content, but very poorly implemented. Seriously CBC, pull all your Android apps and start again, but this time hire a real Android dev.

Pathetic Pathetic that this is the best CBC can do. Years to fix a 100% crash-on-start? Hopes shattered as it's less responsive than before. Do you test on slow networks? I thought it had frozen. For some links like "Canada >>" you have to tap on the tiny chevron. With no feedback on any tap, you can't tell this & assume it has crashed/frozen again. At least video works now, a bit. If CBC news was not 50% recycled hash from programs like marketplace, it might be worth suffering through. I will continue using BBC.

Decent app for just browsing If you just want to get a quick look at the headlines from Canada this app will do the trick. If you want an app that is truly functional for a variety of news formats you should go with the BBC News app. If you just want the hockey news go with the Hockey Night In Canada app.

New update makes app almost unusable I open the app to read the news, I now have to select "news". I find an article to read, I click on it... then it goes back to the main page. I click on "news" again... go back to find the article... and keep playing this game till I give up. BBC and CNN have good news apps, why can't I read Canadian news on a decent app?

Just a wrapper around the mobile site As with most news sites, this mobile app is just a thin wrapper around their existing mobile web site. Would prefer to have something more like the BBC app instead of another web browser. If the CBC news app crashes for you, just use a bookmark to their web site instead.
