[2013-08-18] A Google User: Very nice This fits my needs perfectly. Only problem is +3 text size is still way too small on nexus 4. If you could fix this it would be a five star app for me. |
[2013-08-16] A Google User: small simple efficient.. thanks dev! |
[2013-07-26] A Google User: Works okay... ...But widget sucks. |
[2013-07-24] A Google User: Great App! This app is great. It imports/exports opml files for feed backups. I use that feature to keep my feeds synchronised with RSSOwl on my desktop. The only thing I find lacking is the ability to put feeds in sperate folders or tags to make browsing feeds of certain subjects easier. I might be overlooking something though, thus the 4 stars for a feature I can't find and need. Don't let this discourage you from using this app though. It is open source. It is tiny. It has a ton of features for it's size. |
[2013-07-20] A Google User: Simple news reader RSS reader to substitute Google Reader |
[2013-07-15] A Google User: Not bad, very lean Nice rss reader. Needs very few permissions which I really like. Swipe gestures are a bit clumsy. Font for overview not resizable. Other than that just what I need. |
[2013-07-14] A Google User: Excellent tiny rss apps. Tiny apps but work as expected. |
[2013-07-06] A Google User: Fast, efficient and no ads Can't get any better than this. Has opml import/export. The black theme is easy on Oled displays. Nice app |
[2013-07-05] A Google User: Does the job! Is simple to use and shows an RSS feed without any fuss. |
[2013-07-04] A Google User: Quite good but... I really dont like the interface, you should display feed thumbnails, have a real resizable widget, ... I now prefer FeedEx or RssDemon |
[2013-07-03] A Google User: Great So far so good, nice simple application, clean interface, accepted my Google reader XML subscription list, and app file is v small. |
[2013-07-02] A Google User: Simple text rss I wanted a simple text rss reader. This is perfect for what I wanted. Works fast, good settings/ options, and clicking an article takes me right to the website. |
[2013-06-27] A Google User: It's no Google Reader, but I like it. While panicking about what to do with my blog feeds, I stumbled upon this. I'm so glad I did because it's so simple and streamlined and easy to use. Thanks! |
[2013-06-20] A Google User: Just about excellent! This is just about exactly what I've been looking for in an RSS reader, and one that will make a fine basic replacement for Google Reader when it goes to that great big server farm in the sky. It's simple, small, lightweight and seems to work well with the 40 feeds I imported from Opera. The only down side I've found so far is the feed entry titles are a little small; font size can be adjusted but it only affects the text of the entry, not the title in the feed list. Also, it lacks an easy and direct way to open the article in a browser. You must go through the hassle of copying the link to the clipboard and manually pasting it into the browser. |
[2013-06-07] A Google User: Works well just what I needed simple& easy to use. |
[2013-06-06] A Google User: The UI lets it down a little bit. Good, though. |
[2013-06-04] A Google User: Great! Almost as Google Reader but on black background. Biger font on Home page please. |
[2013-05-27] A Google User: Good Helpfully |
[2013-05-26] A Google User: Good! Simple & effective! |
[2013-05-25] A Google User: Offline It don't have the option of downloading the whole article. Clicking on continue reading prompt for opening the article on web browser. |
[2013-05-20] A Google User: Unstable This app is slow and useless. |
[2013-05-16] A Google User: Výborná RSS čtečka Výborná čtečka, snadný import xml z google readeru, super grafika, snadné ovládání, je zdarma a bez reklam. Jediné co mi chybí je možnost vytvářet skupiny feedů. Mít je všechny v jednom výpisu není moc přehledné. Pokud se dodělají skupiny bude to 5 hvězd |
[2013-05-14] A Google User: Great Just allow widget resizing to make it perfect. |
[2013-05-09] A Google User: Broken The odd feed works fine, mostly it doesn't load new posts or new articles for most sites, and can't even load the feed for others (even when the direct URL is used). I want this to work, but sadly I can't even try to use it. |
[2013-05-09] A Google User: Not bad Would be perfect if the widget worked better. More like the Google reader widget. |
[2013-05-06] A Google User: Great! I've been on an endless search for the perfect feed reader. This one is very easy to use and completely plain, which is what I wanted. My only suggestion would be to incorporate better theming options. I'd like to adjust the spacing between entries. |
[2013-04-30] A Google User: Will not refresh feeds! Site has new content, but this app WILL NOT refresh the feed. Tried multiple times, even created a new duplicate feed... no refresh. UNINSTALLED! |
[2013-04-25] A Google User: The best possible RSS reader No complaints. It does each of the things that the other readers I have tried failed to do. Clean interface. Easy to use. Loads any rss url, even obscure ones that would not show up in search results. Allows full control over when feeds update. The developer provided helpful answers to my questions. |
[2013-04-06] A Google User: An excellent offline RSS reader on my Nexus 7. A solid, simple, lightweight reader. The only feature I miss compared with my desktop reader is the ability to group feeds in folders. Thanks are due to the author. This is an open source program and there are similar apps based on it. If you have one of these installed, as I had, uninstall it first or you get a 'duplicate' error. This is not a web-based reader like Google reader, but you can import your feeds as an OPML file. |
[2013-04-04] A Google User: Best of the best This app works beautifully. Simple. I have set it to download blogs via rss. |
[2013-04-01] A Google User: Does what it says. Very useful app and its ad-free. |
[2013-03-19] A Google User: The missing link A plain, clean UI for reading, with local caching and OPML I/O. Now I just need an RSS->RSS feed merge resyndicator. |
[2013-03-18] A Google User: It works, no ads If you gonna import your feeds from Google Reader - open Reader in web browser in desktop mode, click Settings icon on the upper-right, select Export, download and unzip the resulting file, copy file subscriptions.xml to the root of your SD card, open Sparse RSS, click Menu->Import OPML, select subscriptions.xml, and you're done! |
[2013-03-14] A Google User: I've found my Google Reader replacement This is just the rss reader I needed. Surprisingly, I like the Sparse rss interface better than the interface of Google Reader - and I appreciate the customization options. Thanks a bunch, Stefan! |
[2013-02-24] A Google User: bye checking out different RSS apps. most immediately ask permission to access your account. you say yes...bingo! you're ready to roll and take the app for a test drive. not this app. I fiddled with the settings for a minute and thought y am I doing all the work? I'm off to the next RSS app to try out |
[2013-02-14] A Google User: Great lightweight RSS reader Does just what I need without extra cruft. Maybe some individual feed retention options would be a nice addition, but it still deserves 5 stars. |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Simple and effective Lightweight and does what I need. Perfect. |
[2012-12-30] A Google User: Light & Simple W/Notification I tested several rss apps and only this app met my expectations. It does not consume to much power or memory. The ability to turn off pictures is a huge plus for my needs. The only thing I would suggest is a is a DND feature for the notifications. |
[2012-12-10] A Google User: Excellent No ads, easy to use, and most importantly you can easily import all your feeds. |
[2012-11-28] A Google User: Not so happy I was in the mind set this would revive updates from the 20+ web comics I read but it miss some updates. If I do a up date rest it some times gets the latest but by then its to late I have already read it. |
[2012-11-28] A Google User: Superfast and lightweight This app maybe doesn't have the highest rating when it comes to RSS readers but does everything I need out of a reader very faster and simpler than any other app I tried. Most feed readers are overbloated in my opinion |
[2012-11-20] A Google User: Awesome! It works even better on Android 4.1... |
[2012-11-16] A Google User: Decent Only loads 25 entries, doesn't find entries in others. No way to customize & have it load entire XML feed. Otherwise it's a nice little basic reader. |
[2012-11-11] A Google User: the holy grail of feed readers no ads, option to delete read entries, small Just wish content could be viewed inside, there is no zoom for pictures but yet 5 stars even comparing with paid aps, first and only reader I will prorbably use |
[2012-10-28] A Google User: Below average... Reading the comments I expected something much better... Sticking with coolestech rss reader for the time being as it's the best yet... |
[2012-10-22] A Google User: Simple, effective, use it every day |
[2012-10-19] A Google User: da Only P r o s >>> opml import + can store images for offline view + humble C o n s >>> no search in feeds - no auto label -no alphabetic sorting -sometimes not storing images DA BEST so far |
[2012-10-03] A Google User: Good RSS reader and no BS This is exactly what I was looking for: a simple RSS reader that does its job well and doesn't show ads or try to harvest my personal information or location. It works well and I can read the feeds inside the app or open them in a browser, and if there is multimedia content I can download it from inside the app. It's really easy to set it up so it downloads and updates how you prefer and how it shows you read or unread content and so on. Everything works how I expected. I tried quite a few RSS readers and this is easily the best. |
[2012-09-05] A Google User: Yay! One word: awesome! |
[2012-08-28] A Google User: RSSOwl for mobile If you love RSSOwl for Windows then Sparse rss is your mobile RSS reader. Make sure you pick the original by Stefan Handschuh and not a fork that's out there. |
[2012-08-24] A Google User: love this lightweight app ... but it lacks feature to fix title of rss that i got from opml generated by online opml generator. please kindly add this feature. thank you. |
[2012-08-23] A Google User: Need to be fixed Best RSS reader, I would give a 5 stars, but sometimes it start to use 100% of cpu and drains battery, even if app not started, only sheduled updates. Last 3-5 updates doesnt fix this. |
[2012-08-18] A Google User: Simple Exactly what i was looking for. Thanks! |
[2012-08-16] A Google User: Easy Gefällt mir sehr |
[2012-08-11] A Google User: Amazing! This is the best android rss feeds aplication I have seen. I tried millions, trust me and this was the only one I liked! |
[2012-08-09] A Google User: Battery consumption Takes a lot of battery in my Atrix. Sorting and putting feeds in folders is needed. But quick and fast, do its Job well. |
[2012-08-09] A Google User: Excellent widget... ...but please mark read items as read, and make the logo display optional |
[2012-07-23] A Google User: Great App! Huge range of feeds, easy to use and doesn't take up much space either - always a bonus! |
[2012-07-22] A Google User: Best rss reader for Android |
[2012-07-22] A Google User: i miss time format YYYYMMDD... ...this should be a small thing. this and offline reading would be cool (pendler mit schwankendem empfang im zug) but perhaps this makes a client difficult and fat? so far a lean and good client - after many disappointements. thx, go on stefan! |
[2012-07-17] A Google User: Doesn't update. I downloaded this so I wouldn't have to constantly check my favorite blogs...it said no updates, and I went to the site just to see how accurate it actually is. It had updated twice since I downloaded this app. What's the point??? |
[2012-07-13] A Google User: Very good, but invasive Thanks for publishing a free, no nonsense RSS reader for Android. True to its name, Sparse rss is free, small, fast enough, ad-free, largely non-invasive, and easy to use; and it offers only essential functionality. However, the app always caches an instance of itself on boot. I can't find a way to stop it doing so, even with root tools. That is not good. |
[2012-07-11] A Google User: Great reader |
[2012-07-09] A Google User: I have my PC RSS reader for the "heavy lifting". Sparse RSS is perfect for simple access on the move. Hard to believe but 1.6 is even better !!!! |
[2012-07-06] A Google User: Great |
[2012-07-01] A Google User: Good, But need to support rtl languages Good, But need to support rtl languages.. in article view |
[2012-06-26] A Google User: Exactly what you need Exactly what you need and nothing more. Great app. |
[2012-06-23] A Google User: Lacking Cannot set number of items to cache, does not seem capable of handling feed:// urls. |
[2012-06-22] A Google User: Simple and Exactly what I wanted This is a perfect lightweight RSS feed reader. I use this for notifications of new items to feeds i'm watching. Does the job very well. Thanks! |
[2012-06-21] A Google User: GOD GOD |
[2012-06-12] A Google User: more bloat => poorer function Been using it for years. Used to be the best. As he adds bloat to it, it functions worse and becomes more annoying like others. Useless, unwanted features on screen. Latest version delays before showing story. take "sparse" out of the name and I'll be happy to give you four stars before I install it and stay looking for a sparse RSS reader, which yours isn't anymore. |
[2012-05-28] A Google User: Works well, I would like it more if it could have support for google reader |
[2012-05-27] A Google User: So close to prefect Simple and useable. If they add a keep starred when deleting option and if the icon on the front page refreshed the feeds I would give it 6 stars out of 5 |
[2012-05-25] A Google User: Thank u Love this app |
[2012-05-22] A Google User: nothing happens installed. got appearance setup screen. nothing else. uninstalling. galaxy s 2 |
[2012-05-21] A Google User: A very clean & Light app FEATURES - The 4x2 widget can display 10 feeds so you just unlock the screen and have the latest news right there - It has an option to manually refresh some feeds so important feeds auto-update on mobile network while others you can always manually refresh over wi-fi or mobile network. - The background of the widget can be customized using the RGB slider - Users can swipe left-right to navigate between the feeds or use left-right arrow buttons - Font size & auto update interval is user defined IMPROVEMENTS - Fetching the entire article from the news feed, currently Taptu & full sparse rss do this job well but are ad supported |
[2012-05-18] A Google User: Perfect This does exactly what i need without a lot of bloated nonsense. What really makes it awesome tho is the widget. Only one i could find that shows multiple headlines without scrolling (i don't wanna use a custom launcher). |
[2012-05-17] A Google User: Works well Works well but hard to get feeds into it. |
[2012-05-14] A Google User: Thank you so much. Finally a decent reader that doesn't get its content from google reader. I dont understand why rss readers seem to have vanished and been replaced by readers that fetch content fetched by google reader. So redundant. |
[2012-05-12] A Google User: Excellent It might be sparse but is still more feature rich and configurable then the other bloated readers available |
[2012-05-07] A Google User: Perfect This app is the one I was looking for.. It's simple and works well, no preinstalled feeds. |
[2012-05-06] A Google User: painfully poor Colours are impossible to read! Dark gray on black, dumb. Have to manually input url. |
[2012-05-06] A Google User: Dede Hammond Mantaaaaaaap ! |
[2012-05-05] A Google User: Great app, and sparse is definitely an appropriate name. Just do the job? Not a bad moniker. Does all I want it to do. |
[2012-04-29] A Google User: Not working for Tsunami-Alert Forgets sometimes RSS messages. Not good, if you not rely on this reader and are dead, because the message did not come to your phone. |
[2012-04-21] A Google User: Awesome feed manager! Works incredibly well. Only wish is to be able to display more than 10 feeds on the Home Screen Widget, so I could make it my home screen. Maybe have it auto-adjust the number of entries displayed based on how big the user-defined area is and not just a set number of entries full-stop? |
[2012-04-15] A Google User: Works just as I needed and doesn't want to access unnecessary permissions. A little slow while fetching multiple feeds though. |
[2012-04-12] A Google User: Useful I use it everyday. Fast and clean |
[2012-04-11] A Google User: Awesome Works great. Pls add async fetch. Instead of one at a time. |
[2012-04-11] A Google User: Great app Great app...i use it everyday |
[2012-04-11] A Google User: Doesn't need crazy permissions Great app. Works well, is simple, and doesn't require crazy permissions like all of the other apps I looked at need. |
[2012-04-10] A Google User: No nonsense feed reader One of the best feed readers for Android. Needs an option to set refresh interval time per feed to deserve 5 stars. |
[2012-04-10] A Google User: A very fine little RSS reader. I like this RSS reader because it's both easy to set up and versatile. |
[2012-04-10] A Google User: Great RSS reader Plus open source . |
[2012-04-07] A Google User: Good So good |
[2012-03-05] A Google User: Just what I needed Hey thanks for making this app. I tried several other RSS apps and they were ugly, difficult to use, and preloaded with bunches of junk feeds. This one is simple and to the point; the ideal reader. |
[2012-02-28] A Google User: Good but... I need it to support Facebook Pages. |
[2012-02-27] A Google User: Simple as I wanted! Also asks for few permissions. Great app! |
[2012-02-27] A Google User: Wonderful App Love this app! Would give 5 stars, but not a fan of new swipe-to-switch-items interface. Any chance of a settings toggle to turn that off if desired? |
