[2012-11-11] A Google User: Ugly, ads, and no voting or commenting features Not worth downloading. There are many better apps in the store. |
[2012-11-11] A Google User: Great I've tried alot of other hn apps and always came back to this. Simple, easy to read, my eyes rest looking at this! Suggest removing 'refresh and search' bar, it does'nt add anything and removes valueable news space. Scrolling to the End should load more news. Other that, please dont change anything. |
[2012-10-13] A Google User: Good reader, one big flaw Long links texts gets abbreviated in comments.. The links also get abbreviated on the href level, this making the links unusable. |
[2012-10-13] A Google User: Meh Simply opens the article in a browser. No good. |
[2012-08-27] A Google User: Awesome Great app, I love the fact that the back button in the browser takes you back to the app. Only wish you did not have to long press to get to the comments. |
[2012-08-18] A Google User: Solid Does exactly what its supposed to. |
[2012-07-27] A Google User: Missing comments, but most usable UX As in other reviews, it seems that occasionally there are some missing comments. Other than that, this includes all the usability stuff I expect from an app for reading HN. Share links and comments, view comments in app or browser, fast scrolling everywhere. I feel like the built in "read it later" with instapaper is a little pointless without asynchronous execution (I have to wait for it to share with instapaper via intents and via the built-in, so why not just use intents?), but it is still a nice touch |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: Poor Limited features |
[2012-07-02] A Google User: No easy way to click to comments Can only get to comments by long pressing then picking from a menu. |
[2012-06-28] A Google User: usefull app |
[2012-06-04] A Google User: Great HN Reader Use it daily. Well designed and intuitive to use. Highly recommended |
[2012-04-19] A Google User: Change the icon The tshirt is among the worst icon designs on Android. A simple square would be much improved. |
[2012-02-19] A Google User: Works pretty well! Thanks for keeping it free! |
[2012-02-16] A Google User: Nice app Easy to use. Could use improvement with nesting of comments in text mode though. |
[2012-01-26] A Google User: simple and functional +1 |
[2012-01-04] A Google User: Missing a few things First, understand that this is a reader. You cannot comment or vote with this app. Second, it seems to miss some data on the page I'd like to see. In particular, number of comments and maybe age of post. Comment nesting seems a little buggy as indentation doesn't always show the right level. But it's snappy and readable and I've never had a crash. |
[2011-12-11] A Google User: Yay! Thanks for fixing the notification bar issue! |
[2011-12-10] A Google User: From the developer @Brian - usurping notification bar was inadvertent not a decision. Fixed in 2.6. "Real action bar not in API level I use. |
[2011-10-21] A Google User: Not bad Seems much more stable after latest update. |
[2011-10-15] A Google User: Options to choose browser Need option to choose preferred browser like Dolphin instead of stock. Time grouping like last day, last 5 days will be very useful. |
[2011-09-26] A Google User: Big ad I don't live in Chicago and if I did I still wouldn't hire you. |
[2011-09-22] A Google User: Not working Not working, HTC Desire, |
[2011-09-20] A Google User: If I want to see a program crash I load up cory traegers hn app. It is a crashing machine. Otherwise, I go elsewhere to read hacker news. No Idea how this is the top hn app. |
[2011-09-19] A Google User: Read It Later support? Works great for just reading Hacker News stories and comments. Along with Instapaper support, Read It Later support would be great. |
[2011-09-11] A Google User: Simplistic, ad supported It allows to read the comments nicely. Well, that's about it. No voting, no commenting, no hide read comments. Plus annoying red ad on the top. |
[2011-09-10] A Google User: OK Red ad is awful. Otherwise it works. |
[2011-09-04] A Google User: Bright red ads! There's a bright red ad at the top.of the screen that never goes away...even if you click on it. Eyes. Are. Bleeding. |
[2011-09-03] A Google User: I don't mind the hire me in Chicago banner, but it shouldn't float on top when I scroll down the page. Esp in that grating red color. |
[2011-09-03] A Google User: Works when the others don't Coming back to using this after trying others. Small footprint and always works. |
[2011-05-05] Brian: Does it have to reload when changing orientation? |
[2011-02-10] A Google User: crashes when rotating the phone |
[2011-02-10] Russell: crashes when rotating the phone |
[2011-01-11] A Google User: I'm sorry to say it but after using this a long time, I think just using the website is easier and better than using this app. |

[2010-09-04] A Google User: No votes count, no paging to the second page etc. Otherwise, nice design |
[2010-09-04] Jared: It takes you to the browser when you tap on a link, and then the back button doesn't bring you back to the app. |
[2010-09-04] Visnja: No votes count, no paging to the second page etc. Otherwise, nice design |
[2010-06-24] Brian: Does it have to reload when changing orientation? |
[2010-06-16] A Google User: Doesn't list vote numbers. |
[2010-06-16] defrex: Doesn't list vote numbers. |
[2010-06-14] A Google User: Good app for browsing the HN frontpage. Can't comment or vote comments up/down though. I would pay for that! |
[2010-06-14] Draven: Good app for browsing the HN frontpage. Can't comment or vote comments up/down though. I would pay for that! |
[2010-05-27] A Google User: Great start, but incomplete. Can't vote, comment, or post. Long links in comments get mangled. I would pay for the full package. |

[2010-02-03] A Google User: A decent first app, but not a whole lot else. |
[2010-02-03] A Google User: With the ability to log in and post comments it gets a five. Still useful, though |
