Onkyo’s Remote App allows owners to integrate wireless audio stored on an Android device into their Onkyo home network system. The app operates over a wireless LAN and enables a range of remote control functions, such as volume and tone control and input selection.

Latest Version - Major Bugs The latest version has significant issues. WMAs no longer play, Zone 2 only plays what is already playing on Zone 1, if at all. Cannot get to the Pandora station list anymore. No longer plays most of my music catalog. Soo, given that the Onkyo's dual zone, Android/DLNA streaming was a significant, but not only, reason why I purchased an 809 in the first place, I cannot recommend either the Onkyo Remote app OR the 809 a/v receiver...unless you do not have a need for a second audio zone. If you don't then the 809 is a very nice high/mid range A/V receiver and drives a 4.1 Magnepan set up (on walls) quite nicely. The app in its current form is little more then an early Beta.

Updates ruin good apps Worked great for a year, then most recent update had formatting wrong and it loads with half the screen not showing, and scrolls between pages rather than on them. Pls fix.

Display Problems This app had 1 drawback before 1.3. I listen to Spotify in Zone 2 quite often. Using the app, I would have to start the playlist in the main zone, before I could control it in Zone 2. It was a minor annoyance for an otherwise helpful app. Version 1.3 changed that. Many of the screens no longer display properly. The controls are so oversized as to no longer fit on the screen. It makes the app almost completely unusable. Now I am in search of a way to roll back to ver 1.2

Awesome! This app used to be awesome, but then upgraded to a RAZR Maxx and now the screen format is off center so much that the app is now unusable. Highly disappointing. Should be a basic fix on an issue that shouldn't have been there to begin with. And i see I'm not the only one who has this issue. Please fix, until then not useable.

Galaxy Nexus Works well. Use 8050. Not all the controls are available. Can't control bass and treble, and can't set songs to shuffle over NET, but can with the physical remote. Wish I could set shuffle from app. Otherwise good.

Very nice overall Had app for about 2 weeks now , been using daily I really like, only issue I noticed it often doesn't switch songs after one is finished playing. And the volume control is very in accurate, plus/minus buttons would work better. Other then that great app.

Amazing app, issues after upgrade to 4.04 Most awesome app EVER!! But after upgrading verizon Droid4 phone to Android 4.04 (ota upgrade) this app is now broken :-( The buttons at the bottom of the screen are fine but everything else is shifted to the right and does not fit on the screen, some buttons on the right half of the screen are inaccessible. Hope devs will fix on next release!

Was my favorite app Used it on my nexus and it worked perfectly for a few months, after last update it refuses to find my receiver, it's now useless. I miss this app.

Nieuwe update v1.30 waardeloos Met de nieuwe v1.30 update is de app waardeloos geworden want hij schaalt niet meer juist op mijn Galaxy Tab. Alles verschijnt in reuzegrote letters en je kan aan heel wat instellingen niet meer komen wegens schaalfouten. Onkyo verbeter dit snel!!

Almost perfect!! Thank you onkyo! I bought my tx-nr because of this program. Unfortunately, 1) Screen size formatting is incorrect on my RAZR 2) Changing the volume needs to be more precise and offer small incremental changes in volume 3) When changing audio codecs on the receiver, it would be great to get feedback of the phone display of what audio mode the receiver is in (stereo, orchestra, etc)

What have you done? Works ok as a remote, but you have broken the streaming capability from htc sensation xe with ics. Not sure if its the amp or the app, however, I can stream from the music app.

Needs a better volume slider! I have a TX-NR818, and using the volume slider is terribly imprecise. I can't change the volume with any accuracy. It should at least be a plus and minus button, or a dial type button, like the physical button on the front of the AV.

Doesn't work properly since app "upgraded". As for other reviewers this worked perfectly before the upgrade to v1.30. Now it doesn't allow most control of zone 2, and mp3s start and stop immediately. I e-mailed Onkyo support pointing out these seemed to be common problems from the reviews here, but just got a stock "it might be your phone firmware / try reinstalling" response. Shame as very useful before the upgrade. Alan

Not Improving Used to work ok with My NR708, but with the latest firmware upgrade to the receiver I can no longer connect to it when the receiver is in standby. Two big negatives still haven't been addressed: First, you cannot select a custom URL in the iRadio control, only the built-in stations like vTuner, Pandora etc. Second, when playing music from my NAS in the "Server" area I can't change from repeat to random play mode. Great start on a very useful app I use every day, but needs more work.

Wtf This app worked great until a few days ago on my Motorola Photon. Still works fine on my wifes photon. But not on mine. Reinstalled app and still nothing...doesn't find my device at all!!! Works fine with other devices!!! Please fix!!!

It it awesome when it works My Razr got the ics update and now the app does not fit the screen correctly. Also had to factory reset my Tx-nr609 to get the network functions to work again. I am using the newest version of the app 1.30

No longer works with tx-nr515 The remote used to work really well for me on my Galaxy Nexus with TX-NR515, until the latest update. I can no longer select net devices to use, nor browse my dlna libraries. In fact, none of the controls have ANY affect on my receiver - power, device selector, volume, levels, listening mode... all of which worked fine until the latest update. I used to gloat to my wife how awesome the android onkyo remote app was compared to the totally busted iPhone app she has been trying to use. Now we're both bummed that we can no longer control our receiver remotely with our apps, which was a huge selling point in our purchase of the TX-NR515. If I had three thumbs, I'd give this three thumbs down.

Needs a few improvements Good but two issues i have with it are that it's hard to see which listening mode is selected (eg, full mono, all channel stereo, 7.1 dsx, etc), but more annoyingly the dnla steaming option only shows a list of 20 or so titles at a time (when viewed on the phone) rather than caching all the titles or at least a decent number of them for you to scroll through ... Trying to find an artist beginning with "M" is seriously painful :- Fix that and it's almost a 5* app

Doesn't work anymore! I have a Droid X and this app was awesome and worked for me perfectly prior to today. Now that the upgrade happened my mp3's will no longer play on Zone 2. Zone 2 is also giving me issues when trying to play Sirius. Again everything worked perfectly before the upgrade. PLEASE FIX! I need this app back.

No longer works. I have the same setup and issue as Mike. Droid X. Worked fine until the update. Doesn't work on either Droid X I have. Receiver sees it, but phone won't play songs in the .wma format. I can get the .mp3 to play though.

I fixed it thanks I finally fixed the problem by reinstalling app by having the network turned on in the settings menu making sure your ip address is right. HTC EVO 4g LTE.

Does what I want when it actually works This app was great at first. I could wake up and turn my music on right away w/o having to go downstairs. Now I can't turn my receiver on anymore. Works great after I go down stairs and turn it on.

Could be very nice.. Needs improvements!!! This app has potential, however not userfriendly. Using spotify plugin on onkyo av receivers has no random function, very annoying!! Many not important options (treble, bass etc) have a prominent spot in the app by sliding the homescreen to left or right as where other options are hard to access. Again going to the search screen of spotify takes ages and too many screens. Searching the web for songs while playing distorts the current playing song. Do not use for playing spotify -> spotify app far better!!!
