Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr. (born April 2, 1939 in Washington, D.C.; died April 1, 1984 in Los Angeles, California), was a Grammy award winning R&B, soul and doo-wop singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist known as The Prince of Soul. Originally a member of the doo-wop group The Moonglows, he pursued a solo career after the group disbanded and released many successful solo hits including How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You), Sexual Healing, I Heard It Through the Grapevine and Let’s Get It On.

Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, born September 14, 1973 in Queensbridge, New York, and more known commonly as Nas (formerly Nasty Nas and Nas Escobar), is a prominent American MC. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, he was raised in the infamous Queensbridge housing projects in New York City. His debut album Illmatic, released in 1994, was a critically acclaimed bestseller and is widely considered one of the greatest rap albums of all time. He married R&B singer Kelis in 2005, they have one son together, and she filed for divorce on the 29th of April 2009. Nas was also a part of hip hop supergroup The Firm, which released one album.

Nina Simone (1933–2003), was a U.S. singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist.

Simone was born Eunice Kathleen Waymon on 21st February 1933 in Tryon, North Carolina, one of eight children. Like a number of other black singers in the U.S., she was inspired as a child by Marian Anderson, and began singing at her local church, also showing great talent as a pianist. Her public debut, a piano recital, was made at the age of ten. Her parents, who had taken seats in the front row, were forced to move to the back of the hall to make way for some white people.

Philip David Charles “Phil” Collins LVO (born 30 January 1951 in Chiswick, London) is an English singer-songwriter, drummer, keyboardist and actor best known as a drummer and vocalist for English progressive rock group Genesis and as a Grammy and Academy Award-winning solo artist.

Faith No More formed in 1982 out of the ashes of Faith No Man, a band formed and headed by Mike “The Man” Morris. Roddy Bottum, Mike Bordin, and Billy Gould, all ex-Faith No Man members, decided they wanted rid of him, and rather than firing him, all three quit.
