Henry Beam Piper was an American science fiction author. He wrote many short stories and several novels.

He wrote under the name H. Beam Piper. Another source gives his name as "Horace Beam Piper" and a different date of death. His gravestone says "Henry Beam Piper". Piper himself may have been the source of part of the confusion; he told people the H stood for Horace, encouraging the assumption that he used the initial because he disliked his name.

Piper was largely self-educated; he obtained his knowledge of science and history "without subjecting myself to the ridiculous misery of four years in the uncomfortable confines of a raccoon coat."

Piper did not live to see how influential he was to other science fiction writers because he committed suicide in his sixtieth.

Many of his works have been reprinted recently.

This book Police Operation was one of his famous stories.

An expedition from Earth to Mars discovers a deserted city, the remains of an advanced civilization that died out 50,000 years ago. The human scientists recover books and documents left behind, and are puzzled by their contents.

Earnest young archeologist Martha Dane deciphers a few words, but the real breakthrough comes when the team explores what appears to have been a university in which the last few civilized Martians made their last stand.

The story builds tension from the scepticism of the rest of the team, mostly male, as well as from Ms. Dane's competitive, spotlight-seeking team-mate, Tony Lattimer.

Henry Beam Piper was an American science fiction author. He wrote many short stories and several novels. He is best known for his extensive Terro-Human Future History series of stories and a shorter series of "Paratime" alternate history tales.

He wrote under the name H. Beam Piper. Another source gives his name as "Horace Beam Piper" and a different date of death.

The Terro-Human Future History is Piper’s detailed account of the next 6000 years of human history. 1942, the year the first fission reactor was constructed, is defined as the year 1 A.E. (Atomic Era). In 1973, a nuclear war devastates the planet, eventually laying the groundwork for the emergence of a Terran Federation, once humanity goes into space and develops antigravity technology.

The story “The Edge of the Knife” (collected in Empire) occurs slightly before the war, and involves a man who sees flashes of the future. It links many key elements of Piper’s series.

Audio Tone Generator is a tone generator that allows testing of audio equipment, speakers, studios and rooms.

FUNCTIONS OF THE APPLICATION:

* Tone Generation.
  - Ability to generate up to 6 simultaneous tones.
  - Each tone can be configured with frequency, pan, amplitude and waveform independents. The properties of each tone can be changed interactively while listening to the audio generated.
- Frequency Range 20Hz to 20kHz.
  - 4 available waveforms: Sine, square, triangle and sawtooth.

* Generation of frequency sweep.
   - Initial and final frequency sweep configurable, and the duration.

* Noise generation.
   - Generation of 3 types of noise: white, pink and brown.

This great Suprabhatham was composed by one of the greatest savants of Vaishnaism, Sri Prathivadhi Bhayangaram Annangaracharyar and is a splendid Sri Sookthi that is recited every morning in front of the Sayana Mantapam(place for sleeping) at Thirumalai. This was composed by the author because of a request from his Guru Sri.Manavala Mamunigal.
