Daniel Defoe’s most famous novel, Robinson Crusoe, was rewritten by Mary Godolphin (the pseudonym of Lucy Aikin) into single-syllable words so that young readers could enjoy the plot.

Based on Daniel Defoe’s most famous work, which is considered by many to be the first English novel (1719), she rewrote this novel.

The story begins with the universal quest: the young man in Britain, torn between his safe home and his hunger for adventure, breaks away from his loving father and sails away into the unknown. After a series of harrowing escapes, he's shipwrecked on a desert island.

With only a few supplies from the ship he builds a house, a boat and a new life. His island is not wholly uninhabited, though, and there is the exciting but ominous presence of cannibals who Crusoe occasionally encounters and saves a native from. The latter becomes his servant, Man Friday.

The crew of a mutinying ship finally rescue our hero, but it is his adventure on the island that interests us. The story has remained popular ever since its publication and it spawned two sequels: later in 1719 with The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and a third part, The Serious Reflections of Robinson Crusoe, in 1720 which consisted of moral essays. The first novel, though, is particularly notable for its detailed verisimilitude allowing us to believe in the situation - something assisted by the uncomplicated language used by the author.

This classic personal time-management book originally published in 1908 has inspired generations of men and women to live deliberate lives. Not just another collection of timesaving tips, this book is more of a challenge to leave behind mundane everyday concerns, focus on pursuing one's true desires, and live the fullest possible life. Reflection, concentration, and study techniques make it easier to accomplish more truly rewarding undertakings than anyone ever dreamed possible.

Time is a very funny thing; everyone gets the same amount per day. Rich people do not get more than poor people. It's not possible to go the store and buy time. Out of that 24 hours per day, everyone must carve out a life.

In the book, Arnold Bennett addresses the growing number of white-collar. In his view, these workers put in eight hours a day, 40 hours a week, at jobs they do not enjoy, and at worst hate. They work to make a living, but their daily existence consists of waking up, getting ready for work, working as little as possible during the work day, going home, unwinding, going to sleep, and repeating the process the next day. In short, he does not believe they are really living.

Bennett addresses this problem by urging these salarymen to seize their extra time, and make the most of it to improve themselves. Extra time can be found at the beginning of the day, by waking up early, and on the ride to work, on the way home from work, in the evening hours, and especially during the weekends. During this time, he prescribes improvement measures such as reading great literature, taking an interest in the arts, reflecting on life, and learning self-discipline.

This book talks about some of the most important aspects of a full existence: the awareness of the passing time and methods of utilizing it to one's unique advantage. It lays out a structure to a possible way of filling one's time, and points to the obstacles and dangers lying in this execution.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll in 1865.

This fascinating story is about an adventurous and curious girl named Alice who follows a "White Rabbit" and mistakenly falls into a long, long hole. When she lands, she is in an amazing new land called Wonderland. Wonderland is a world of crazy ideas, unfamiliar rhymes and peculiar creatures.

Alice meets many new characters such as, The Mad Hatter, The Dormouse, The March Hare, The Queen of Hearts, a Duchess, a Gryphon, and The Cheshire Cat, as she tries new adventures to get herself back home. She not only meets these characters but also battles with them in a court case which is bizarrely unfair, she plays crochet, and even continually shrinks and grows herself. She gets herself tied up in odd situations, but her curiosity carries her onward. In the end Alice discovers something truly amazing!

The Poison Belt (Audio Book)

The Poison Belt was a novella that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about Professor Challenger.

Three years after the events that took place in The Lost World, Professor Challenger urgently summons his fellow explorers (Professor Summerlee, Lord John Roxton, and reporter E.D. Malone) to a meeting. Oddly, he requires each to bring an oxygen cylinder with him.

What he soon informs them is that from astronomical data and just-received telegraphs of strange accidents on the other side of the world, he has deduced that the Earth is starting to move through a region of space containing something poisonous to humankind.

Shutting themselves tightly up in Challenger’s house, they start to consider what may be done. But as their countrymen start to drop, will their oxygen last long enough to determine and implement a solution?

The poems and stories in this collection were selected with the reader’s grandchildren in mind. “The Raggedy Man” and “Little Orphant Annie,” both by James Whitcomb Riley, the Hoosier Poet were favorites of the reader when she was a child on a farm in Indiana.

Other favorites were picked up along the way as she read to her own daughter and to her students, while other gems were discovered while looking for poems and stories to include in this collection.

‘One More Chance’ is the work of the hit composer, Kenzie, and it is an electronic dance music that
gives a strong impression through the addictive melody built on in powerful and elegant beat.
The lyric plainly tells the story of single girls in our times, revealing new charms of The Grace
through the fresh tune and the secrets of girls in the lyric that anyone would empathize with.
