Great app. This app is amazing. Response is quick and it looks very "clean". The vlc helper downloaded, installed, and paired in under 2 minutes. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it dosnt see my devices after I pair but, all I had to do was set the it's manually and it works flawlessly.

Crashes Would be 5 stars but vlc remote crashes when trying to view favorites folder in android 4.0 and higher saying "unfortunately, vlc remote has stopped," which is the only reason I upgraded to full in the first place, please fix.

Needs Improvement Have used this forever on iOS, and recently gave up and got a Galaxy Note 2 and loving it! Having said that, please...for the love of god update the interface on android to match iOS!!! Other than this interface, the only problem I have is it will not remember my selection of whether I want to add to playlist or play now. Update the interface and there aren't enough stars I can give!

Always Have To Run Setup Would be an outstanding app if I didnt have to run VLC Setup every time. Says VLC isnt running on computer when it is. Once I open setup it works.

Great app, absolutely worth purchasing Purchased paid version after few hours of trying free version. I have my laptop hooked up to home stereo/receiver and VLC player's EQ makes world of difference in sound output quality. Now my phone is remote for playing music and browsing through files. Perfect. I just wish VLC devs would allow VLC to remember last custom-set EQ setting after closing, have to adjust it every time I start it up on pc. 5 stars for the VLC remote though.

God Send for Lazy People. Very Useful App This app is pretty much the ultimate app for lazy people as it allows you to pretty thoroughly control VLC using only your mobile device. The only downside to it is that you have to be connected to a wireless network in order to use it (both your device and the computer/ laptop need to be connected to the same network in order to use it) Once the connection is made, and you have an instance of VLC running on your computer/laptop then you can use the app to load a file, and then have full control of it. In short: This is the ultimate app for people who like to watch video/ listen to music on their laptop whilst not near it as it allows for simple, effective control.

Setup problems? Great app, nice interface! One thing: the auto setup did not work. Setting up manually worked, make sure you don't include http:// in the IP address, or you can see the computer but it says VLC isn't running!

I wish ..... I wish the documentation explained some of the icons and menu trees.. I can't seem to get this to work as well as the free Remote for VLC (Baldwin) version does. Looks like it has some good features, which is why I bought it - but it's pretty clunky. Also, VLC seems to interrupt & stream choppily when this app is running. That doesn't happen with the free version or when I remote from a browser. May be solvable - some sort of remote control/contention problem - can't figure it out & with the free version, i don't have to.

Works! OK, admittedly in my instance it did take a while to get it working. But narrowed it down to good old windows firewall ruining my fun. I have it working now, and instantly bought the full version. I can go into my files on my externals and pick what i want. So now I'm laying outside in the sun on the trampoline feeling very smug.

Better than sex. This app is awesome. My old useless notebook with no battery is now the "media player" I always wanted. Teamed up with vlc player and the remote, it plays everything perfectly. Even over my wifi. This is where my other purchased media players fall over. None of them (even wd live) can properly and flawlessly play media without some kind of issue requiring my attention. Vlc plays everything beautifully every time. And this remote accurately allows me to do all the things I want with Vlc. Trouble free.

Fantastic Remote I tried a bunch of other versions before breaking down and buying this one. It was completely worth it. It's a well functioning remote and the set up was clear and fairly easy. Plus, it allows you to search through your computer and connected hard drives to find media.

No frills UI, but it delivers… Great app. Lets me control music and video from anywhere in the house. The simplicity to connect with my Mac is unsurpassed. Used this app with my iPhone and now moved it to my Note. Had a widget glitch and after communicating with the developers, fixed the problem in little time. Just but one suggestion, a volume control integrated to widget.

Prós: possui visualização por pastas; com uma pequena configuração para o VLC iniciar com o Windows, fica tudo automático; tem controle de volume e suporte a playlists; possui boa ajuda para instalação e configuração no PC e no celular; suporte a inúmeros formatos de áudio e vídeo. A melhorar: não identifica corretamente algumas pastas padrões do Windows 7 em português. A pasta "Minhas Músicas", por exemplo, aparece sempre em branco no celular. É preciso acessar "Music" para encontrar os arquivos. Testei vários programas e este foi o mais rápido e objetivo. Recomendo. Excellent on Android 4 ICS. The best remote control for PC media that I have tested.

Finally perfect. Finally got this working on my computer, although, since the last time I tried this i've installed Ubuntu - which made a world of a difference. Never worked on windoze. Really nice UI, lots of features. Would definitely say it's worth the money. Update: installed windoze again, couldn't get it to connect after rebooting the computer. However, works flawlessly on Ubuntu. No idea why. When you can get it to work on windows the app is brilliant. As an Ubuntu user I would definitely recommend downloading!

Won't stay connected Great app, if it would be fully functional. Every time I open VLC to play something I have to run the VLC helper. Developer attempted to help but was unsuccessful and messed up my computer. On Hobbyist forums many people are having this problem and the developer is telling them all "Just reinstall, there shouldn't be a problem"

The only problem is for some reason it will lose connection to the computer, but I don't know if its the app or the computer and I don't believe the app can open vlc, you have to open it manually from your computer but once you got it set up on your computer your set. The ONLY thing I would love to have is a volume control on the widget

Great app, but... Only reason it's not 5 stars is because of some bug that keeps the app icon in the notification bar even after the app has been closed, forcing me to restart my phone to remove it, which is really annoying. Also really lacking a remote start feature

Love it! Very handy app, it's a must have, especially if you use your pc as your main entertainment centre. One problem I found, nothing major but the widget always says "tap here to select target computer" and doesn't work unless you remove the widget and re-add it whist a video is playing.

Great app Only thing missing is a setup helper for linux, and some more widget options. Of course if you run linux, chances are that you can get this set up and working. As for the widget issue, I'd love to have an entire homescreen set up as a vlc remote widget, or at least a few larger options than the single size offered. Add the Widgets and I'll uprate to 5 stars.

Tricky to set up - but a good app! After a lot of struggling with the set-up I'm now fairly impressed with this app. It took me over 30 mins configuring things before I could link my Android and PC - and then 'keep' the connection - but it was worth the effort. I ended up having to do the advanced set-up, entering the IP address manually as it kept 'forgetting' the PC using the standard set-up. Also, I was originally running the latest VLC Portable version, but quickly realised that VLC Remote wouldn't work with it so I had to install the 'proper' version - VLC Remote gives you a download link for this. Once VLC Remote is running the interface feels rather confusing, and it takes a fair amount of trial and error before it feels comfortable, but it is worth the effort getting familiar with it. I keep all my videos on an external hard drive, and accessing this is easy once you've worked out the file tree - I've added the Video folder to the 'favourites' list for easy access. As some of my videos are 'split' within 'DVD style' folders I needed to set VLC Remote to play from 'folders' rather than 'files' - again, it's easy to select this option from the menu. In summary, it's a great app but tricky to configure.

Very cool This is great for controlling my VLC player on my desktop. It comes with easy to use tools to connect your device to your desktop, and it can do everything from browsing files to play, add to play list, index control (!!!), volume control, subtitle settings, etc. It's perfect.

BEWARE This app typically works perfectly, if ur able to overlook the volume adjust delay crap. But the real problem I found lies with which version of VLC you have installed on your computer. Anything before 2.0.0 seems to run perfectly, but versions 2.0.0 and gives you the "NO SIGN OF VLC etc" error message, even after a successful pairing with the VLC Remote App. It's really weird, but I had to go back to version 1.1.9 of VLC on my computer, because that was the last version I had that worked perfectly. It might just be me, cuz my luck with anything techie related is terrible, but if you find yourself running into similar problems with the 2.0.0+ versions of VLC (on your computer), downgrade to 1.1.9
