DAAP Media Player (v. .9.7) Разработано Miceli Bros. |
DAAP Media Player allows you to stream your music from a DAAP share such as mt-daapd (firefly), Rhythmbox, forked-daapd, tangerine, most NAS devices such as FreeNAS, QNAP servers, and older versions of iTunes.
DAAP is a proprietary protocol similar to HTTP developed by Apple for use with iTunes music sharing. Still used by modern versions of iTunes, the computer community has reverse engineered an older version of this protocol for streaming their own music. This application provides this functionality on an Android device.
DAAP Media Player is an open source application. Bugs and feature requests may be made at the official project page (http://code.google.com/p/daap-client/).
Features include:
* Stream music without downloading the whole song!
* Search and voice search songs
* Passwords
* Handle multiple servers
* Random/Shuffle and Repeat
* Playlist and Queue support
* Widget
* Home screen shortcut
1. Long press home screen
2. Click Shortcuts
3. Click DAAP - Add Server
4. Enter server information
* Last.fm scrobbler support
- If you have a scrobbler app installed on your phone you can scrobble (disabled by default). Tested scrobblers: Simple Last.fm Scrobbler, and Scrobble Droid.
* Last.fm artist information
* Handle intents of the form daap://server:port#password

[2013-06-14] A Google User: Easy to use and works well This app is simple to use and does the job. |
[2013-05-09] A Google User: Connects, but no pokey I'm using it on an htpc running Ubuntu with forked-daapd. It connects, but then just shows a bunch of directories, none of which have any music in them. Rhythmbox on an Ubuntu PC works fine though so I assume it's something to do with this player. Oh well. |
[2013-04-21] A Google User: Duplicate song entries |
[2013-03-13] A Google User: Nice looking app. But that's about all I can say at the moment as this app refuses to play about half of my music with no reason given. It plays some music files just fine, even files that need transcoded, but, it loads that now playing info for a lot of files but then just sits there staring. |
[2013-02-27] A Google User: Doesn't work with Rhythmox Files are listed, but not playable. |
[2013-02-02] A Google User: Can't get it to do WAN connection This seems to work fine on home network (LAN) but doesn't seem to do 2G/3G. I get a message stating that wifi must be activated |
[2013-01-10] A Google User: Jellybean Upgraded to jellybean and now scrolling down my music is just about impossible and the app keeps freezing |
[2013-01-06] A Google User: Works impressively well I installed Firefly (forked-daap) on my Ubuntu computer, edited the /etc/forked-daap.cfg, and opened port 3869 on my router and boom! Free unlimited streaming music on my cell network! Why bother paying for a streaming & storage service? Would give higher marks for a more robust music player component (fancier playlist options, cache the database by default and only scan for changes on demand, etc) but 4 is still 80%! |
[2012-12-19] A Google User: Schitterend Zeer prachtige app, werkt perfect in combinatie met mijn Qnap iTunes server. |
[2012-11-15] A Google User: Doesn't work with large collections As another user said, it doesn't work with large collections (for me >70,000). |
[2012-11-05] A Google User: Good basic client Does what it's supposed to do, working great with my Tangerine DAAP server. Scrobbling is nice! Feature requests: search box, cover art from file, better queue management (add album to queue, for example), better file names when saving files (its daap-number.mp3 now), preferences menu,... Keep up the great work! |
[2012-10-25] A Google User: . Ok! |
[2012-10-19] A Google User: Good app |
[2012-10-09] A Google User: OGG format support problem My DAAP Server is Rhythmbox running on ubuntu. MP3 format works very well, but when playing the song with OGG format, this player cannot play the entire song, only 90% of the song, and then it will suddenly jump to the next song. |
[2012-09-13] A Google User: ReadyNAS + DAAP = music bliss Installed Firefly on my Netgear ReadyNAS NV+, put it in the DMZ, installed DAAP on my Android, watched the video, and in 60 seconds I am listening to my home music collection over the ATT 3G network in excellent quality. This is stupid-simple. Awesome!!! |
[2012-09-09] A Google User: Great App! Works perfectly with freenas and firefly |
[2012-09-03] A Google User: Nice Good |
[2012-08-20] A Google User: Does work but is slow Technically it works but using large media collections (>40.000 items) is painfully slow. It takes forever to load them, it does not cache data so everything has to be reloaded next time, browsing lists is slow. |
[2012-07-14] A Google User: It does what it says Nice app! I've been using it with Rhythmbox and I've found a couple of oddities, but since Rhythmbox crashed a couple of times, I don't think is DAAP Media Player fault. |
[2012-07-01] A Google User: Has replaced my roku soundbridge This app combined with my DI.FM app means my android phone has now officially replaced my roku soundbridge. I might actually buy a second hand HTC desire from ebay and just use that as my media bridge. I gave my soundbridge so much time and effort but the wireless technology they have used is so poor, I just can't handle the connection issues I have experienced over the past 5 years. The android wireless on the HTC desire is flawless, and time will tell whether this client can maintain the connection to my router and firefly or not, but seems pretty good so far. I'm a java developer and I'm always amazed that you guys have time to build stuff like this and offer it for free! Well done and thanks. |
[2012-06-15] A Google User: Love it! Works perfectly with my unraid server! |
[2012-06-13] A Google User: Nas Works perfectly with my goflex home. Beats the rubbish seagate access app. |
[2012-06-04] A Google User: Developer @Colin if you read the description you can see why each permission is listed. Also this app is open source. You can review the code. I'm not stealing any data. Please retry this app. |
[2012-06-03] A Google User: Good start Nice app for music - needs support for pics - and optomised for tablets. |
[2012-05-28] A Google User: Plays flac for me UI is a little clunky, but talks to my forked-daap linux server perfectly. Plays flac too : suspect this depends on my device having flac support at the OS level. Try cyanogenmod if yours doesn't |
[2012-05-11] A Google User: Needs to look more appealing Works well and fast. Just looks boring. |
[2012-04-20] A Google User: Connects with Linux Works well with mp3. Too bad about ogg format. |
[2012-04-14] A Google User: Works well |
[2012-04-08] A Google User: Permissions Colin, phone state and identity is needed to pause playback when a call comes through. Do research on your own before posting a misinformed comment. |
[2012-04-03] A Google User: Good app, please fix permissions I second the other reviews, WTF does this app need to "read phone state and identity" ???? Uninstalled until there's suggestion it has been fixed. Otherwise good app, worked without error with Rhythmbox, would consider paying a dollars for it if permissions are sorted out. |
[2012-03-21] A Google User: ! Super responsive dev . Excellent customer service! |
[2012-03-10] A Google User: Doesn't open all music files but is pretty good otherwise |
[2012-02-13] A Google User: Always running Works great but why does it always need to be running in the background and startup? |
[2012-02-11] A Google User: Brilliant Worked perfectly over wifi & 3G (3rd party setup required for 3G). Found my Firefly server almost immediately via wifi, very easy to add servers if needed. |
[2012-02-09] A Google User: Brilliant Brilliant |
[2012-01-31] A Google User: Almost perfect Great App: found my NAS/firefly at once. But I really miss "Album artist" as a filter/tab. Can I report this as a wish? Otherwise it would be a 4/5 star |
[2012-01-17] A Google User: Excellent! I can connect to my library easily. |
[2012-01-05] A Google User: Great! Works well with my forked-daapd server on Linux Mint 12! |
[2011-12-06] A Google User: Excellent So easy to set up! Good work! |
[2011-12-03] A Google User: Great Finally, all my music fits on my phone. |
[2011-12-01] A Google User: Great! No flac support. Connects to my nas box with out issue. Player is very simple with No frills. I would give it four stars but the one extra star is for |
[2011-10-28] A Google User: Great app! Plays nicely with tangerine, though lacks FLAC support. Would be nice to see some loseless love in future releases, thanks! |
[2011-10-18] A Google User: FLAC support? The app works fantastic for connecting to my firefly server, but 97% of the songs on there are in flac and won't play, any chance you guys could include FLAC support with future releases? |
[2011-10-17] A Google User: Amazing! Streaming my library from my home FreeNAS box. Works like a charm. |
[2011-10-15] A Google User: Doesn't play Connects to Firefly server on ReadyNAS Ultra, lists songs/albums/artists, but doesn't play tracks. Server indicates "Streaming '<track name>'". Phone is LG Thrive. |
[2011-10-13] A Google User: Best DAAP client This app works very good, ad only few issues with it on my HTC. But still lots of improvements can be made. Keep on, developer! |
[2011-10-11] A Google User: Great but not perfect Love using it with my firefly server, best app available for remote share. Would like to see integration with music controls (cm7, for example).r |
[2011-10-11] A Google User: Fantastic app Wish it could pull cover art out of the files. |
[2011-10-09] A Google User: What's with the phone call permissions? |
[2011-09-30] A Google User: best best rythmbox brother I love it on my galxy tab |

[2011-08-13] M: Interface is a basic. Support for a single playlist, but no way to add a whole album to it or to see where you are in it. |
[2011-08-10] Andrew: Excellent! I can connect to my library easily. |
[2011-07-25] A Google User: Perfect This app works as advertised. No issue with it all |
[2011-07-25] bigbrovar: Perfect This app works as advertised. No issue with it all |
[2011-07-05] A Google User: No frills, but works well I like the simple interface. A couple issues. Sometimes it will lose sync with the server and doesn't auto-reconnect. Max queue needs to be longer. Wish I could create local playlists. But... it works, and I use it all the time. Atrix used with svn Firefly on ubuntu. |
