Basically I created Car Cast for my own use and shared it with anyone who wanted it. Some people find Car Cast makes them happy and they wanted an easy way to say thanks. So I created Pro. Please only buy pro if you already love Car Cast. There is no difference between Car Cast and Pro (just the absense of Ads.)

Car Cast Pro is a simple audio podcast downloader and player. Optimized for use in a daily commute or trip to the gym, it features big buttons, large text, remembers last played location. Car Cast Pro is based on Car Cast open source software.

Perfect for my needs - Commuting I have used the free version for a few years for listening to podcasts to earn professional development units to keep my certification active. Experienced a problem, notified the supplier, Mr Herrmann, and he fixed it almost immediately. Now I'm a paid user, due to a great product and incredible customer service!

Best I've found but... What I'd like is an app that subscribes to podcasts, downloads them when I have wi-fi access and moves them to a separate archive directory after they have been listened to or manually archived. This app does handle the subscriptions but it keeps downloading ones that I have already listened to. Other than that, it's good. The interface is also pretty weak but for free I can live with it. Update: I have since purchased the app and things have improved. The UI still leaves something to be desired.

Near perfect Trade offs. To keep small it's kept simple. Simple in the gui is great, would be nice if could do more sorting of downloads but then wouldn't be small and simple. The free version works great too but has ads.

Really cool app! I love it, I download my morning radio, NPR news, sports, carcast car talk, comedy podcasts and listen to it on my commutes and while I'm at work. Commercial free radio! You can have it auto download and it's ready in the morning! This is really cool, a definite help!

Excellent Does what it does, excellently! I have a suggestion for an enhancement... Please could you add an option to change where the podcasts are downloaded to? The default being the current /mnt/sdcard This is because on many phones, the /mnt/sdcard is actually mapped to a internal usb memory, with the real sdcard being mounted to /mnt/sdcard/sd_external I have a 64Gb sdcard in my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, but Carcast is currently unable to store its podcasts on it because of this.

Great! I was simply looking for a Google Listen replacement and everything else I looked at was just too heavy or the auto download feature didn't work well. Car Cast is simple, smooth and easy to use. I mostly listen in the car so having LARGE simple controls is key. Thanks for a great app!

Good for purpose This is one of my most used apps. It is very reliable and practical. But could do with a UX redesign eg. I often accidentally enter voice note mode. Also menu navigation is awkward. Some lipstick would be nice. Could be awesome with just a little work.

Great app, thanks Bob This app works exactly how I want on my HTC Thunderbolt. I wanted a podcast player so I could listen to things on my way into work and my way home from work, with big buttons to press while at red lights, an easy menu, and invisible downloads. Got it! This is ideal for drivers. Note: I download only when connected to wifi and with the Tasker app I’m connected to wifi every night, overnight, hence invisible. :-)
