Learning from Those with Dementia from lectures by Christine Bryden vol.5
Part3 What kind of care do those with dementia need? ,section1
If we can attempt to feel what they feel, we can use this newly acquired understanding as our starting point towards better care of our family member or loved one who suffers from dementia.
Christine Bryden was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1995 when she was just 46 years old. In November of 2003, Christine and her husband were invited to Japan and she gave lectures in Okayama and Matsue. It is extremely rare that people with dementia are able to describe what they experience in their own words. We encourage you to listen to Christine’s words as if they were the words of a loved one, friend or someone close to you who suffers from the same disease.
In part 2, we learned what kind of experiences those with dementia go through. Now, in part 3, we will learn about the care required by people with dementia.
